Has anyone had any luck gettting the SnapSync software to work with the A700? When I try to export my Outlook address book to the phone, SnapSync gets to one blue bar, transfers about 8 contacts (out of 66), and then gives up. I then get the following error message:
The application was unable to write to the Phone. Please restart the phone and try again.
I've restarted the phone and PC numerous times. I've even downloaded the latest drivers.
I have software version 1.37, the Outlook 2003 update, and the latest USB drivers.
Did I just waste $30 on this software?

It works, I have done it successfully. Have you removed the batter on your phone yet to do a hard reset?

Thanks for the reply. I've removed and replaced the battery numerous times. SnapSync can read the contacts from my phone, but hangs while trying to upload 'em to the phone. It does manage to upload about 5 (out of 66) contacts before crashing.
Any other suggestions?

Yes, call Futuredial's tech support. I am sure they have heard of this problem before. I havnt. If it can read but not write it leads me to beleve you may have a bug in your phones firmware.

I did call FutureDial tech support, but they weren't really able to help me. Just called Sprint, but their system is down right now. Will try calling Sprint again later...

Sprint will for sure not help you on that matter. My suggestion is to try installing the software on another comptuer and trying it from there. If you have the same problem it is almost 100% a phone issue. Not the cable. The cable on has one I/O line so if it reads, it can also write.

Thanks again for the advice. I did try getting the software to work on both my home and work PCs. No luck. Will have to call tech support (FutureDial) again on Monday...

It is likely a problem with your phone. If you have tried it on several computers you know it is not the software. And you know it is not the cable because it can read fine, so it is your phone.

I haven't tried this software yet but I wouldn't want to buy it unless it is known to work on my phone.
My version info from Menu->Settings(7)->Phone Info(9)->Version(3) is:
S:ES.A700 XG23
H:A700.08
Not sure if this is enough information to tell firmware revisions or not.

That's the same version I have. I even had Sprint transmit a PRL update to me.
My phone info:
PRL: 10024
S:ES.A700 XG23
H:A700.08
I've had no luck uploading my contacts list to my phone using SnapSync. Hopefully I can return the software and get back the $30 I wasted on it.

You guys havnt wasted anything. It does work. That is the only FW update on that phone. You will get it to work, it just takes some patience and knowledge. When I get the time, I will do a "play by play" dummies guide so that it can be followed exactly step by step.
From memory I can tell you that you need to let the phone reset and also turn it on and off at a certian point in the program. I had to fiddle with it a bit but it does work.

3G: Are you saying that you actually DID get SnapSync to work with the A700? I did managed to get it to import only 5 contacts, but it crashes if I try to import any more than that.

After yet another complete un-install and re-install of the SnapSync software, update, and updated USB drivers, the software now refuses to recognize my phone at all. It doesn't matter which USB port I try, how many times I reboot the computer, restart the phone (removing the battery), etc. SnapSync does not work with the A700!

To add, I even went into Device Manager and removed the PCI Bus and just about everything else, rebooted, and reloaded almost ALL hardware drivers plus the latest SnapSync drivers. Still no luck. Now I can't even use the modem feature of SnapSync. The FutureDial modem appears in Device Manager, but clicking on "Query Modem" returns an error stating that Windows is unable to communicate with the modem...
$30 for this? I will give FutureDial SOME credit for having fairly prompt and courteous tech support reps - even though my problem hasn't been resolved yet.

No 3rd party features seem to work on this phone: no MSN, no AIM, no SnapSync. Is anyone else having any luck?
BTW: I do software development and some tech support for a living. I am no idiot when it comes to technology. I'd hate to be the "average Joe" trying to use these so-called features.

Be warned: according to the local Sprint rep, using a data cable will VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I have had no luck getting SnapSync and/or the cable to work and now I'm told that I've voided the warranty by using such a cable.

I had this same problem at first but discovered that I had some contacts that did not have phone numbers, I put 0's in the phone number and everything worked fine
