Hi:

I have a new Toshiba laptop running XP Media Center Edition. I recently added Snapdialer program to use my cell as a modem. This adds software and USB drivers.

My system is now really slow to boot up (with phone/cable disconnected) and crashes often in Media Center. It seems like it's accessing HDD all the time too? Could there be a network or communications conflict?

Thanks for the help.

Do a system restore and see if that helps. Personally I dont think Snapdialer has anything to do with it. But you dont even need Snapdialer. You can uninstall it and throw it away. You can simply make a manual dialup connection using #777 as the number to dial.

and if you want to transfer anything from your phone just use BitPim instead of SnapSync if you have it. Much more reliable (getting your contacts correct) and doesn't hog memory or take up as much space as the futuredial software does.

The system restore worked and all is right with the world again. I'll try the bitpim for transfers and the suggested set up for dialup. Snapdialer seemed to work fine with my old 98SE-operated notebook so I think it must be some conflict with XP. Thanks

That would be great Noodle but mostly only Sanyo phones are supported. Not most Samsung, Toshiba, LG, etc.
