View Full Version : Picture Mail - No Picture?

Has anyone run into this problem?

I can send and receive picture mail, no problem, but I need to save the picture to my phone in order to view the picture sent from picture mail.

It used to work where if you go into picture mail and select the one that you want, the picture would display. But now, I need to save the picture mail first before viewing the picture.

I did the obvious like power cycling the phone, and updating the NAI, but still no go.

Does anyone have any clues on what's going on???

Thanks!

I think that happens with some Toshiba 4050s but not on others...a few people mentioned that same issue...I think Michelle did

Thanks for the info! Do you know what causes it, and how to fix it? (probably going to go home and call Sprint to see what's up)

From what I can guess, the 35Kb limitation has something to do with it..though I'm really not sure bro

Have had my 4050 for a few weeks, and have had no problems yet, and I have probably viewed over 100 pics in that time, from websites (pictures.sprintpcs.com) and from pictures sent from other Sprint PCS phones. It couldnt hurt to walk into a SPCS store and have them take a look at it.

Also, if you have tons of stuff on your phone (long call histories, many text messages, lots of other photos, games, etc...) then it will decrease your memory and that sometimes causes the 35K memory issue to pop up earlier ( according to Toshiba/Audiovox)

That's common with the 4050. Sprint changed their picture mail, so that it no longer shows a scaled down version on the 4050. The resulting image embedded is too large, so you must save it to your phone. :-(

Happens to me too sometimes...not every time.

That's correct- since most of my photos come from a Samsung MMa700, which has horizontal orientation, they do show up. However, photos from phones such as the Sanyo 8200 and VM4050 won't show up all the time :-(

THIS IS HORRIFYING!

I have just begun to experience the worst of this. Until recently, almost all of my incoming Picture Mail was from Sanyo 8100, which take 352x288 pictures. About a month or two ago, I did notice that I started getting an "Insufficient memory" popup when I would receive such a Picture Mail, but at least I could see the photo.

But now, after Christmas, the rest of my family is using better camera phones, and we are now facing a public-relations disaster! When my nephew sends me Picture Mail from his Sanyo 7400, or when my brother or sister-in-law sends me Picture Mail from a Toshiba 4050, the photo does not show up at all in the Picture Mail. As the original poster says, the only way to view it is to download the photo--a tedious, multistep process.

I myself might be able to live with such stupidity. Maybe my brother could, too. But my sister-in-law will not! She will be extremely angry that she ported her cell number over to Sprint, primarily with the promise of Picture Mail, only to find that

Picture Mail is horribly broken on the Toshiba VM4050.

I may be uninvited to Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinners because of this. :(

Note that in the past, I have occasionally sent Picture Mail to myself, on the Toshiba VM4050, for testing purposes. It used to work. Sprint has broken it somehow.

maybe its a hint to get rid of your phone *ducks*

just kidding...actually that same thing happens to my other tech, and he normally reloads the page and it shows up

Reload Page doesn't work, Show Image doesn't work.

The problem is not so much myself, it's my brother and sister-in-law. They just got this model, as a present from me. What am I going to tell them? That Sprint has effectively ruined this model, and we need to exchange it for something with less features or a higher price?

Where else will I go for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinners?
