Hello All,
I have just received my Sanyo 8200 and like it very much coming from the rugged but worn out Samsung N400. This is a Benz.. So far that is.
I've heard from my local Radio Shack that the "desktop charger" for the model 8100 will work with the 8200. Can anyone verify this?
Perhaps someone who has both... I sure would appreciate it. :)

I have a 3rd party desk charger bought for our two 8100s. Recently Sprint replaced my 8100 with an 8200. I tried to plug it into the charger but no-go. Since they put the universal DC connector beside the standard jack, the standard jack is slightly off-set and thus wouldn't fit in my charger.
YMMV with a Sprint desk charger or another brand.

Where did you get your 3rd party desk charger?

Hello,
Thanks so much for writing. Would anyone be able to recommend a specific Desktop charger for the Sanyo 8200 & where to purchase.
Would really appreciate any and all ideas.

For 8100:
I bought it at Best Buy, IIRC.
Another place I've used for batteries and other accessories (they also have the desk top charger) is Cell-Phone-Accessories.com. Here are the URLs for two of their desktop chargers:
http://store.yahoo.com/cell-accessories/batterycharger.html (you'll need to specify model by typing it in).

I didn't see anything specific listed for the 8200 from the web-order place that I mentioned in my prior reply here.
Try Best Buy. That's where I bought the Body Glove case for the 8200 last week.

The 8100 desktop charger at Best Buy will work for the 8200 (with some modification). A minor sanding job (or Dremmel, if you've got one) will allow the charger to accept the 8200. Nice thing was that Best Buy had the 8100 chargers on clearance for $4.97. Makes the deal even sweeter.
By the way, if you do Dremmel the charger, make sure it isn't plugged in when you do.

I bought THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35206&item=5722567632&rd=1) and both chargers work great!! I also had this setup for my a620 and 8100. All worked great!

Hi Folks,
Talked to a pilot yesterday with the 8100 and he mentioned that it would not work with his 8200. The Dremmel idea sounds good to make the 8100 charger work with the 8200. Do you have a pic you could share?
I wonder how long it will take for Sanyo to put out a charger for the 8200?
Thank you to all who added links!! I shall explore them today.

Ok.....sorry, but these are taken by my 8200. I think you'll be able to see the modification I did, though. You can also see where I got a bit overzealous with the ol' Dremmel. Oh well....cosmetically ugly, but functionally sound.

Howdy,
Thanks so much for posting the pics and I really appreciate it!! I'm sure I would be able to figure out exactly what needs to be "dremeled. :)
The only thing I am wondering about is that the 8200 is charged with the pin type charger and the previous used the rectangular recepticle to charge. In reading instructions on "PC Sync" I noticed that the phone has to be on to power itself indicating that the non-pin recepticle won't charge the 8200.
But, obviously, you are having results and that charger is on sale big time at 3G so worth a try. Does your phone sit and charge on the rectangle recepticle or is there some kind of pin in there somewhere I can't see?
As for the back compartment, does it charge batteries by itself?
Could you take a pic of the charger in action? Don't want to bother, just trying to figure this out!

You can use either type of charger. I have both and use both with my 8200.
Back compartment doesn't seem to connect with 8200 batteries, since shape and size is different from 8100 batteries.

LenS is correct. You cannot use the spare battery port (unfortunately). The rectangular plug for the 8100 is the same as the 8200 & that's why this modification works. I cannot take a picture as my digital camera is my 8200.....if I can get my hands on one, I'll certainly do that. :D

I was hoping someone has already bought from them and could give details as to the quality and make of it, as well as how well it performs? maybe even a picture if that is possible?
or for that matter, does anyone have the desktop charger for the 8200 from sprint?
thanks,

would this work with a RL-7300? I recently purchased it for my husband (he likes flipphones, ugh). I have a rl4920, and am happy with it. From research i did in accessory shopping, im hopeful that my carcharger and travel charger ("pin type") will also charge the 7300, so we wont have to be "is that your charger or mine?" all day. i have scoured various forums for an answer to these questions, with zero luck. any help would be appreciated! :)
have looked everywhere for an oem rl7300 desktop charger with ZERO luck, but can find 8100's everywhere.. sigh...
