Hey, quick question for you all. Does anyone know if the Samsung A460 can be used as a modem for a laptop? (I know it would be crazy slow, but this would be as a last resort backup only)

Samsung lists a data cable as an accesory in the book that came with the phone, but I can't find the cable on their or Sprint's website. does anyone know a good place to get a cable for something like this?

Thanks,
Mark

You definately can. I do it all the time. I have a cable that I bought a while back and I use FutureDial's SnapDialer. With older Sprint phones, if you use SnapDialer and put in #2932 as the phone number and web as the user and password, you get unlimited laptop internet access! The only thing it costs is minutes, so when I'm on the road, I just wait til 9 and dial up. (this doesnt work on new phones according to Sprint, they say you'll get charged 39 cents per minute, can anyone confirm?)

When you say "older sprint phones" are you referring to 2G phones?

If you do not have the Wireless Web option you will be charged $.39/minute + airtime for "Casual Wireless Web" usage ... WW is $5/month and uses airtime ... and is allowed to be used a modem for internet access ... it dails up at 9.6kbs :)
