ok i checked out this said converter and quite frankly i find no use for it other than to send ringers to my phone...no opportunity to save the files to your pc...will that be a up and coming feature? and is it really fair to advertise another forum in another? thats sorta like poopin in your own bed if ya ask me...

comes down to the old saying dont poop where you sleep...

bite the hand that feeds you???
piss in the wind?
Kissing your sister...sure she's a piece of tail but deep down you know its wrong...

things that will only come back to haunt you...

it seems there is a way to download the qcp ..and listen to it as a wav

it wont work for me, it keeps saying to make sure that the filename doesnt have any symbols in it. how is that possible? everything would be c:\something.mp3

so what do i do?

mike@d-d-n.com
09-16-2004, 08:32 PM
not sure why you got the error, we are debugging, as for the 5500 yes it works fine, i personally have one. and we are not "pooping" in out own bed.

djfreake

Well its a good thing that it allows you to preview the file in wav format...but thats as far as you get with it...What if I wanted to save the file for later use? I make alot of ringers myself for alot of people and I dont see your utility as being useful for the not so novice...win the fans win your freedom. I FOR ONE AM NOT A FAN. And the way I see it, you are pooping where you are sleeping. I wonder if I should walk into the Axa Advisors office hand out my American Express Financial Advisors business card and tell all their clients that I can do the same job for more money...

Show of hands...who's phone supports wav format????

mike@d-d-n.com
09-16-2004, 09:36 PM
sorry i didnt know you where hard of reading... do you see the DOWNLOAD button? that saves it to your desktop. why would you make a ringer, and NOT send it to your phone? kinda like going to the bath room with out pulling down your pants. and ill post on what ever forum i want. being a advertiser on SU i deserve that privilage.

Actually no there was no Download anywhere on the page...just preview that opens up a new browser window...i specifically looked for one and there wasnt...if there is one now its only because you reallized the error in your ways and scurried off to put it there...please dont ever question my integrity or intelligence...

mike@d-d-n.com

define intelligence...... having a cartoon character that is "special" as a avatar

and its been there from the start. for debugging purposes.

I tried it, and it wouldnt work for the Audiovox 8920. Got the "906 Invalid Descriptor Malformed JAR or content size in descriptor" error.

However, I did open the GCD on my pc, extracted the file location, sms'd it to my cell, and it went there and played it live. So the file was created and played just fine. Just not downloaded.

weeee! time to test it out!

edit: i sent an AAC to the phone but i never received the notification... is the a700 compatible w/your site? the phone doesn't show up in the compatibility list.

Oh wow it works! and the ringer sounds fantastic! you rock! :D But man, that notification took forever! I really appreciate the way your site lets us adjust the volume and make the ringer sound louder/softer. Now my only problem is compressing the file. My ringer is only about 10 seconds and it's over 346k (but it sounds great)! How can I make a smaller file? Is it because the mp3 is high quality to begin with (160kbps)?

Ah the possibilities now!...

mike@d-d-n.com
09-18-2004, 12:46 PM
seems to be a bug with the program, when ever a mp3 had corupt headers, it fails to set the bitrate. trying to figure it out but, glad to hear you got the message. sprint text messaging is screwy today / yesterady

michelle

mike, so how do you suggest to make the filesize smaller? with the size i'm going at, the ringers will eat up all the memory :p

mike, so how do you suggest to make the filesize smaller? with the size i'm going at, the ringers will eat up all the memory :p

There are converters out there that will shrink the file size of MP3's for you. Just know that it'll lower the quality of the ringer.

Right now I have a strange way of putting the ringers on my phone. I use Quicktime to trim the MP3, and Poweramp to reduce the file size. After that I run it through the d-d-n.com converter. I know there has to be a better way because my file sizes are still at 200kb. I downloaded some other ACC ringers from other charitable people, and the size is small with good quality. Check the A700 tips and tricks thread (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48626) for more info on everything I just mentioned.

not sure if anyone cares but I haven't tried the converter but when I make my own ringers they are a min of 192 mp3's to start but even after the wav then qcp conversion they still end up around 9k... how are you guys ending up with 200+k files.

that and I was about to ask why you're talking about acc Michelle but then again I forgot your a mac fan. :P

Along the same lines, I figured out that the DDN download process is much faster if I chop up the MP3 to the exact size that I want it then use DDN to convert it and send it to my phone. I use the MP3Trim software, plus it is free too!

It worked before, but I'd say for about the last week or so it doesn't work. I know it isn't something wrong on my end too becuase I havn't done anything different to my internet services or anything. Besides, when the songs were long sons (such as Kashmir by Led) it would take all day to upload the entire song.

That's only because so many feel so privileged due to socialism. EDIT: I know this is a strong statement...please bear with me...

America is about rugged individualism...that if you have a problem, you actively seek a solution and implement it.

Since about the 1940's, it's been about helplessness...that someone else needs to "answer all the questions."

You should be very afraid of people who have ALL the answers...

So is there a downloadable version of this ? I do not like "website utilities" or middle men (no offense) otherwise will stick with pvconvert for now until a local side non online utility is available. Ie drop an mp3 make a qcp let me worry about getting it to my phone.

I can not even test your utility since it seems I must create an account which I refuse to do (I hate being forced into signing over my information to yet another site)
