Hey guys, just so you know, ##786, "ok" displays the MB usage of your phone. It even tracks laptop modem usage. I don't know about other phones, but this is a great way to keep track of your usage when using your phone as a modem.
This works on my VM4050 but I don't know about other phones.

indeed this code works for other phones as well. though on the a700, it's ##786# (instead of OK).

Yes it is very useful. Keep in mind it doesn’t care if you are connecting with a data cable or browsing WAP or on Vision by any other means. It is the same MB usage that Sprint looks at.

Does anyone know of a freeware utility (for XP) that would do the same? I'd rather be able to track it on the computer itself.. any ideas would be great. Thanks!

had a customer freeze me with a question yesterday...if a customer gets a data card with the limited MB plans, $40 for 20 MB, etc...can they track it online? How can it be tracked?

You'd think it would be available in the same places where you can track your minutes. For unlimited accounts it just shows unlimited, but it would make sense if you could actually track limited account usage there.

I would assume you can just log into your Vision homepage and check it there?

Any employee of Sprint can get the PC card and connect with unlimited usage. And then you can see where the usage is tracked. At least when I was an employee I had a data card and had unlimited Vision access. I was a tech however so maybe I has special privileges but I don’t think so.

Then do it. It is seriously cool to have a separate card to browse the web wireless while you can still make calls on your cell. I still have the card which I can sell you for a good deal if you are interested.

Same for my 6225... The only question is, is this a lifetime meter or does it reset itself every billing cycle? I guess I'll have to figure that out.

this is probably a stupid question, but that's in kiloBYTES, not bits, right? i only ask since my 6225, which i've had for about 2.5 weeks says i've used 4088 kB (with the capitalization as such) and it seems odd to me that i've used almost four megs of data just browsing the web on my phone in that amount of time, since i don't browse the web that much. i've taken maybe thirty pics, so i guess that's about a meg of data transfer there ...
also, is that figure downstream only, or upload and download amounts combined?

I believe the counter is usually up+down.

My wife just started playing with Vision on her new phone... without a Vision plan. I figured that by doing the ##786 I could see just how much data/Vision she used and roughly what charges she rang up. The phone (VI-660) said 148kb used, so I thought that it should add up to about $1.50. But calling Sprint, the CS told me that she rang up more than $5 worth. Where is the discrepancy ?
