I have seen some really cool faceplates for the 8200...has anyone seen a site that sells both, front and back covers for the phone? I would also assume that if I wanted to change the back cover, that I would have to fool around with the inside portions of the phone, too? Any info would be great! Any links to sites that sell the front and/or back covers would be appreciated, too! Thanks!

The best site I know of for faceplates for the 8200 is daydeal.com. Here is a link.

I have never seen any back covers for the 8200 or for any other sanyo phones. Be sure to check out what kind of screwdriver you need. If it's the tri-wing, you can find it on ebay for $1.99 plus shipping. Good luck. If you stumble across faceplates like this for the 8100, please let me know. I don't understand why they would make them for the 5300 and the 8200 but not for the 8100 in different colors. Good luck.

thanks for the info! the daydeal.com faceplates are pretty cool and i see that they sell the tool to pry the front cover off at least. I bought the blue 8200 for a change from the silver phones that sprint is famous for. Problem is that it is hard to find one that matches that blue or at least look cool with the blue/silver combination that comes standard on the phone. That means that I would be stuck with a blue battery, silver keypad, and then a totally off-matched color for the front of the phone...which is why i want to find a back cover...you know? I am going to do some looking around on the internet to see if I can hit the jackpot. If I do find anything, I will be sure to let you know about it and send the link!

There is no back "cover" for the phone. Unless you find people selling the housing you are out of luck...The front flip plastic is not part of the housing, but the rear part is...

Ok...that settles that...I figured that that there would be an issue with the rear portion of the phone...I havent had the opportunity to take one apart yet which is why I asked about it. Thanks for the help!

You can still do the front though...I am sure that if you are really skilled, you could take apart the housing and paint it...I have heard of some skilled people doing that sort of thing...Also replacing LED's in the keypad...that stuff looks extremely challenging... :p

It does sound like fun...I was actually looking to get a phone that was broken off of ebay or something to play with before i actually took my own apart...I know for sure that I cant be without a phone and i dont want to damage mine...so I figure that i can try altering a couple first. I Have also seen the painted phones as well. Do you know what kind of paint is used?...man this could turn into an expensive hobby :-)

Man, I wish i would have known how to do that before! Thanks for the info! Very helpful! I tried taking the faceplate off of my phone about a week ago and scratched the faceplate and the actual phone...you know, where the faceplate meets the actual phone. Now my phone looks terrible. After I read the info and looked at the back of the new faceplate that I was going to put on the phone I saw the spots for the 4 screws. No wonder I couldn't get the original off :-) Oh well, I know a lot about phones, but not taking them apart! Learning experience for me, I guess. Now since my phone looks like crap, I get to be excited about the new ones coming out soon!
Anyway, thanks for the helpful info!
