Hi Everyone...first of all I'd like to say that this is an awesome forum! I learned so much browsing through here even though I've been on a retention plan for a while....it helps to know what kinds of things you can do with your phone. I'm having a bit of a problem...

I recently bought the sanyo 8200 and had the lg5350. After I bought the 8200 I took both phones to a sprint store and asked if they could transfer my old phone book to my new phone. They said they didn't have the cables for the lg5350, so I went on ebay and bought the cables for the 8200 and lg5350 and figured I would try to do it myself. After buying the cables and then trying bitpim, and getting frustrated with that not working (couldn't connect to the lg5350)...I decided to buy SnapSync. That didn't work either and I think it's because of this:
----------------------------------------------------
For LG 5350/ LX5350 ONLY and SnapSync Software:
IMPORTANT - If your cell phone software version is 1D, you need to update it to the version 21 at your nearest Sprint store for SnapSync. You can check this by pressing "Menu", "9 - Phone Info", and then scroll down to the S/W ver. "LX5350" If that line ends in "21" then you have the right firmware.
-----------------------------------------------------

So, a sprint rep on the phone told me that if I took my phone to a sprint store, they could update the software on my phone to the "21" version. I took my phone there today and after the tech person tried to upgrade the software, they came back saying that they could not connect to the phone, so they couldn't upload the software. Do you think that tech person was just incompetent and I should just take the phone to another sprint store? Or has anyone had similar problems? And figured out a way to solve it?

Thanks...
Mike

Incompetent tech. I had the same problem.

I actually got offered a job (but didn't need it) at the local Sprint store after I taught the tech how to flash my phone. You have to go into Settings -> Setup -> Data-In -> Connection and enable the connection before it will accept data from the data cable.

[I recently got this phone as a replacement and was wondering what would be the best way to up/download ringers to it with a USB/Serial cable and any available software. Apparently, QPST 2.7 rev 91 and Bitpim do not see the phone, even after changing the phone settings (Menu,Settings,Setup,Data-IN) to Connection=Off,Mode=Rs232-C,Baud=115200 (as mentioned in another posting).

I have loaded the Prolific driver from Futuredial because of the USB/Serial cable type has a prolific chip.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

I have this same problem except the sales person told me the tech no longer had the ver 21 software for my 5350...said it was too old and tried to sell me a new phone. Is there another source for this software, and can I flash my phone from my PC and data cable. Thanks in advance!
