i dowloaded the webviewer app from reqwireless but it won't let me load anything and states that i have to purchase it already. i thought there was a 10 day demo? anyone using this browser w/the a700? please post your experience. i'd like to know if it's worth buying. thank you.
btw, i previously purchased webviewer for the treo before but that reg code doesn't work on the samsung. i guess i need to buy a new app/code altogether?

if you had previously purchased reqwireless then all u need to do is request a key exchange at http://reqwireless.com/keyex.html .. and the phone does work with reqwireless quite well actually no cache limit like in the 4050.. = ) hope that helps michelle

i did exactly that. i did a key exchange and entered it and it still wouldn't take it :( could it be it's generating a key for the treo (is it handset dependant)?

no cache limit like in the 4050.
This seems to be a popular misconception lately. The 4050 has no cache limit, the problem stems from Sprint truncating any data over 35kb, no one is really sure why Sprint is doing this. Reqwireless can fix this, but they are not motivated to do so since there are very few 4050 members contacting them.
M2audio, for example, streams much more than 35kb thru a socket connection insstead of a http connection.

Yes, there is a difference between the treo-specific version and the normal java version. I had bought the java version for my Sanyo 5300 a long time ago, but reqwireless won't let me activate a treo-specific version. Wanna trade?

wait, if sprint is controlling the cache limit and the A700 now works without a limit... does that mean the error on the toshiba doesnt occur anymore? or did sprint somehow make it phone model specific and make the A700 limitless and leave the 4050 out in the dark?

The latter is true, sprint for some reason made it phone model specific. I dont think the A700, or any phone is limitless, it is still restrained by its cache memory. But the 4050 is restreined by Sprints gateway before its cache memory runs out.
The 4050 still gets the error because webviewer still accesses the Sprint http gateway, instead of fixing their browser to access socket connections. Once again I cannot really blame them too much since no one has put up a stink about it. Typical, users complain on this forum, but then are too lazy to complain to the right people, then they wonder why something does not work!

This is frustrating. it takes several attempts to get a page to load in webviewer.i hate how the 3g arrows grey out and you have to keep reloading the page and cross your fingers and hope it'll load that time. webviewer is great when it works. but it's frustrating as hell when it won't load pages the first try. it's my only source of internet right now though since my dsl is down so i guess i'll live...

Yep. it's especially frustrating when you try to load a page that's not in your bookmarks, i.e typing a url. if it doesn't load the first time, you have to retype it again. i can only type awfulplasticsurgery.com for so long! :p another strange thing about the browser is that t9 mode is screwy so you are forced to use damn abc mode. agh.

If the vision servers are acting up then Webviewer, of course will be affected as well.

Webviewer uses the phone's own firmware T9 script is why.

I am having the same situation but with an 8100. I downloaded it from reqwireless.com and it is giving me the same message. Do they have the most recent version of the browser? If not, where do we get it? The demo message says that this version no longer works and that the browser has to be purchased. That is what is making me think that it is perhaps an out of date download. Is there a newer version of the browser?

...what i do is when the demo expires i delete it from my phone and download it again sometimes it'll work again. if you download it the next day it will work.

Ahh, 'fixing' the browser? I think you should complain to the makers of the phone for putting an artificial limit in it rather than berate Reqwireless for not spending time/$ trying to work around other company's problems. The Reqwireless browser runs on 200+ phones now (same JAR/JAD BTW), so I think a phone-specific problem is really a phone-specific problem and should be solved by the makers of the phone, not worked-around by the application developers.

How about purchasing the app instead of continuously using the trial version?

It's not Toshiba's fault, it is actually Sprint who is artificially limiting the gateway for some unknown reason.
Reqwireless advertises that they work on any phone and have no specific notes regarding the 4050. Of course I dont blame them, they are making a profit as any business should. Would it be profitable for them to "fix" their browser for just a couple of phones? Probably not, but other companies have done more for less, so I guess it depends on the individual company.
I know eclipxe is working on a browser that will work on the 4050, so have patiently been waiting for that. Competition is a great thing!!

if you have vision from sprint, do they charge you for using webviewer???? or is it included in your vision plan, because I dont want webviewer to trick sprint into thinking im using a modem, or im a way wrong on this, because I dont understand how it works?

Unlimited is unlimited vision usage on your phone. This can be the WAP browser, Multimedia or any third party java app. You also have unlimited use as a modem but Sprint warns that they might disable your Vision if you do use your phone as a modem.

I am SO waiting for that. I sent a PM asking about the browser, but still no ETA. I don't want to waste my money on WebViewer when it doesn't work half the time...it's great for sites with text, but horrible for ones with pictures.
