There is so much buzz for this phone. I know 5 people personally that just got it and love it. I honestly want the phone too...
... When was the last time Sprint had a phone like that, if ever? Will Sprint release a dominant phone again? To sum up Sprint's latest phones, "Meh." :(

true, the Moto V710 is a really nice phone, but the BT don't do it for anyone...Can't even use it in conjunction with a pc. Otherwise, it is up to the A700 here at SPCS...

What like the A700? Not even close. Sprint will continue to release their crappy cheap silver plastic kiddie camera phones for the foreseeable future. That is their strong point.

The v710 is a good phone...I would have it today but I am spoiled with unlimited WEB access aka Vision. I could not get used to using my minutes on the web....and the Get It Now Packages are steep...$14.99 a month to send 40 pictures/750 sms/mobile web and it still uses your minutes- Not to mention if you hate Sprint content pricing well take a look at Verizon GET ME MORE (LOL)...Decisions Decisions...I have holding out for the Sanyo 5600

Have you checked out the new a700? If not maybe you should! Kiddie camera phone it's not very sturdy built phone that takes great pics and video. I don't seem to know if a verizon phone that takes the quality of pics and video of the a700.

yeah, we all know you hate the Samsung becasue you have that forever loving relationship with your Toshiba...
Anyways, what is separating the A700 from the MOTO V710. The Samsung offers the same kind of camera, video recording. With the exception of the 710's horrible implimentation of BT, there is not much difference between the two phones. Someone would like to fill me in on the major differences...?

The V710 has a slightly better camera and a FULL-DUPLEX SPEAKERPHONE. Yup, not even a half-duplex like Samsung should have given the A700, but a full-duplex one that works really well.
I'm not a big fan of Verizon, but the V710 would sell a ton if Sprint offered it.

Okay, I don't get what's so great about this phone. I held it in my hands and the screen is awesome, eye-candy looks, but...
1. It's tied to Verizon, so if you want to surf the web on that beautiful screen you use up your plan minutes. How many people are gonna use the wireless web from 901-559. Honestly, the whole point of wireless web is access when you aren't home, like when you're driving or waiting in line. With Verizon you can't do that.
2. Bluetooth doesn't allow you to surf the web on your PDA or sync your message book from what I was told, so verizon has crippled the only feature that made it stand out.
3. The MP3 player uses transflash memory, supposedly a new type of sd card that is smaller and not really available anywhere. Then you need to get a transflash reader for your computer. By the time you aquire these items from a third-party developer in Tawain, you may as well have bought an iPod and kept Sprint.
4. Like others have said...text messages and picture messages cost a lot of money to keep and send.
But, you're IN, so everything is forgiven. You can call all of your friends who are IN and talk all day about what's on sale at the Piggly Wiggly and everyone in the store will say how cool your Verizon phone looks with the big screen.

In that case I would probably fall in love with the phone, cradle it's gentle body in my hands, caress it's blue curves, and do whatever it takes to get the transflash memory so I could listen to Dr. Dre instead of those awful hymns while I'm sitting in church.

I have one myself.. I can say that the phone is overrated. Bluetooth is crippled :furious:
While my v600 with at&t the bluetooh i can transfer pics, rings, etc.. the v710 only can be use as a modem or headset.. freaking verizon and their get it now thing
Now.. I am thinking of a mm-700 :hee:

Why are so many people saying the V710's modem functions were disabled. I thought it was only crippled in its obex profiles, ie: you can only sync with propietary software and you can only get ringers/images from Verizons service.
Regardless of the naysayers this phone is pretty tight, certainly way above anything Sprint has currently. What Sprint may release in the future may be better, it may not, but I will believe it when I see it, preferring to compare phones that are here now in the present. We all thought the A700 was going to the the end all, and it just turned out to be another cheap camera cheap plastic phone without bluetooth.

Moto v710 sucks, Had it for a week, went back to my SCP-5500
I bought a moto v710 last monday and tested the phone out for a week, my contract was up with sprint so I figured I would give verizon a try. I'm a local government employee so I got a nice plan from verizon. Here are my observations.
1. Verizon's network quality SUCKS! (no I cant hear you now)
2. Moto v710 still has a few bugs in the software, looks like it was rushed out.
experienced multiple random reboots and shutdowns as well as glitches with bluetooth headset functionality.
3. v710's keyboard actually scratches up that gorgeous 260k screen, and camera lens was off center in 4 of 5 phones stocked by the local radio shack.
4. Lack of necessary BT profiles for pc/pda/phone sync. (granted moto could solve this problem by updating their phones)
5. Speakerphone is excellent, the phone's ergonomics are great, Voice Recognition and Headset commands are second to none, but if you're not using a headset the actual earpiece volume of the phone is very very low.
6. Reception seemed fairly weak in fact many calls went straight to voicemail because the phone would go from 4 bars to none when placed in the pocket of my pants.
To summarize, if this phone was available from sprint I would not buy it. I love the screen quality and the speakerphone but I would rather have dependability over a new featureset.
Hope this has helped. :)

Its a valid point though. I thought about this phone for a long time before I went ahead and got the A700. I have a great retention plan on Sprint, and unlimited wireless web is a big draw for me. I would have had a work related discount too if I signed up for Verizon, but the truth is, the loss of the benefits from my Sprint plan would have been too tremendous.
If the 710 was in Sprint for sure i would have gone with this phone instead of Samsung because the Samsung designs are getting old and tiresome, while the new Motorola phones are appearing sleaker. The 710 has lots of nice features as well. However, there have been complaints logged in HoFo about the cheap feel of the buttons with no tactile response and a tilted camera on many of the 710s out there. The A700 is a solidly built phone on a solid service.

Maybe you got a bad phone, because nobody I know has had that many problems. As far as saying Verizon's network quality sucks; They have the best network in the US, that's a fact. You may not like them as a company, or their prices or whatever, but their network is the best over all.

You Verizon users are wack. How the hell is some motorola with bad BT, and a good speaker phone way above anything SPCS offers...PLEASE!!!
The Samsung A700 is by no means a "cheap plastic camera phone". What is your Motorla, metal...I don't think so. The A700 rivles your moto for features, and only lacks a speaker phone, and crippled BT...

:joy: LOL! I am a Sprint user, check my sig, been with Sprint for 6 years and have no plans to go anywhere else, even with the lack of good phones.
The A700 is made of the same silver finish that you can literally dent with the pressure of your fingernail, in all fairness most other cell companies have this finish as well. Motorola seems to be one of the few that doesnt on many of their phones. What does the A700 have that the moto doesn't? What a megapixel camera? That means squat, especially when you start to look at the true picture quality versus the marketing.
The BT is crippled only in terms of getting pics and ringers to the phone itself, but hey that is Verizons issue, not Motorola's. I am not trying to defend Verizon at all, thats why I am a Sprint user. I just wish Sprint would rebuild their Motorola relationship so we could get a phone like the V710 on Sprint.
It's just frustrating to see people get so hyped up about the A700, get hyped up myself, then really look at the specs and see that it realistically offers zilch over any previous models, including my current VM4050, especially for the freaken $400 they want for it. Oh and lets not forget that $25 vision multimedia pack to get the Sprint TV, plus $5 for each "premium" channel. LOL, for that I better get a full cable channel lineup including Spice and Playboy channel on my freakin phone 24/7!
And yes I am venting steam on all the cool kick ass phones coming out on Verizon and seeing squat coming out for Sprint. Just give me that darn Daxian and I will gladly keep my mouth shut, for a couple of months anyway!

Ok, heh. Verizon may have the nations largest network but I would have to say sprint 1up's them on voice quality. (At least in my area "Chicagoland")
I have several friends with verizon phones some with moto's some with samsungs and they all seem to develop an annoying whine in about 3 out of 10 calls. Do a google search on common v710 problems and you will see what I was talking about in my earlier post.
Also, Verizon's web/data access network sucks!! the whole BREW portal scheme just pisses me off thinking about it. plus the fact that minutes used on wireless web count against your minutes package?
In the chicagoland area, verizon doesnt seem to have that much to offer.
just my 2cents.

Actually, the V710 has a 1.2MP camera compared to the A700 at only 1.03MP. It's also got a memory expansion slot, MP3 player, 10MBs of memory standard, full-duplex speakerphone, etc.
That the v60v sells at all should be an indication of just how well the V710 would sell if Sprint offered it.
I wonder if it has the same camera bug as the A700 or if you can use the V710's camera with the flip closed?

Well, let me muddy the waters some more. This is what sucks about the internet, cause you can never get a straight answer. First of all, side by side, in a weak cell reception area (ground floor of a business high rise in Bethesda, MD) I had the V710, the Samsung A670 (wifes) and my old trusty LG510. The V710 won hands down for the ability to bring in a signal. The others faded in and out of service and dropped calls. The 710 always held 2 bars and made and received calls clearly. In my area, it's VZ with the better coverage. I understand that in some areas Sprint is stronger.
I have seen several complaints about the earpiece volume on this phone and I totally don't understand it. My earpiece is LOUD and clear. I can't put it past 4 or it's too loud. Some seem to get loud ones, others complain about too soft. Maybe different firmware versions???
Lastly, the transflash card comes with an adapter that fits into a standard SD slot. So no worries there.
I have cons with the V710 as well, but I'm late for an appt. I'll edit later, cause there are definately cons with this phone as well.

Edit:
Here are the cons of this phone:
speaker can't be used with flip closed
battery life seems less than average (prob due to the big screen)
front display turns all the way off (I prefer the Samsung A670 approach of leaving it very dimly lit for time and date purposes).
too big for some (almost identical in size to the LG7000 ; hard to make a tiny phone with a big screen)
buttons on side are small and almost flush with the phone. plus there are two on each side and it's easy to get them confused
four way controller is nicely laid out, but a little difficult to operate
address book sucks ass. every entry is assigned a speed dial number, even emails. this is pure stupidity. when you use the slick voice recognition, and you have an entry with one phone # and one email, it prompts you for "which number?" this just doesn't make sense. my wife's A670 can record 5 #'s plus email per entry, and the emails do not get assigned speed dial locations, nor are they considered phone #'s
camera doesn't seem all that
that being said, this phone pulls in signal better than ANY phone I've ever tried. It has great quality sound, both in earpiece and speakerphone (although I recognize some people are getting shipped phones that seem to have low earpiece volume. not mine). ringtones can be set VERY loud, thanks to the speaker. the BT is nice, even if VZ has strapped it. Until you put your phone down on the coffee table and then realize you're in a different room still carrying on a conversation without your phone, you won't appreciate the wireless headset thing.
as usual, if I could build my own cell phone, it would take pieces from various models and put them together. But overall, I think the 710, as well as the Samsung 670 are both very nice phones, for different reasons.

$350 is too much for this phone. The pictures dont look that much better, if at all, than a sub megapixel cameraphone. The streaming TV function is expensive as hell, so they should at least subsidize the phone more in hopes of recouping their loss on the subscriptions. And the screen was not QVGA as rumored. There is really very little that is compelling, certainly no reason to pay even $350 IMHO.
I would say $250, maybe $300 for a Samsung lover.

I would say $250, maybe $300 for a Samsung lover.
This phone was NEVER rumored to be QVGA. SPCS info even said in january that the phone was going have a 176x220 screen....

No. Both the 4500 and 4050 are far superior to the A700. Once you save up enough for the A700, you'll understand.

Just wait until sprint launches there new line of Multimedia phones. It will blow all competition out of the water.
-Mark
i have to agree with the person who said that the latest sprint phone releases are very sub par. I will also say that there already is a MM phone out or at least on sprint website and that is the Samsung MM A700 and it looks like crap with a small screen and taking a step backward to 65k color screen and just like samsung vid phone has no speakerphone.
I hate to say it but looks like Verizon believe it or not who never has any good phones and is way late to compete with the technology wins with teh v710 and I would take that and might be switching to Verizon for it anyday over the Samsung MM phone.
Sprint stop trying to categorize phones into VM and MM and get Motorola making phones for sprint. Tmobile has Sharp now and ATT has had NEC and Pana. Get these quality manufac to make phones instead of crappy over rated exclusive with mediocre Sanyo.

VERY true, though Sprint has some nice phones scheduled to be released in the next couple of months.
yes but usually sprint is way ahead of Verizon with phones. The fact that we have to wait for what might be good is not a good sign. The fact is right now the v710 is much better then anyting sprint has i hate to say it. Even the Toshiba which though i love the screen, the speakerphone is just not cutting it. the v710 like most motorola has a great clear perfect full duplex speakerphone that sprint does not have on a single phone in their lineup i guarantee you.
Right now sprint has lost the battle. We'll see what tey come back with but again they have gotten ahead in the past by being the first not being late to the game. I personally have the Sanyo vm500 and The Toshiba 4050 and nothing better has come out for sprint and am thinking switching to Verizon for the v710 asap. I also personally dont have much confidence for some reason that the coming sprint models will bring me back to sprint. I could tell them what to do to do to be succesful but they will have to pay me. Right now whoever is in charge of phone releases and ideas and deals with manufac is not doing good. Sanyo is overrated. and as i've said before Tmobile has Sharp now. ATT has NEC and Panasonic and Motorola continues to make better phones with still always the best speakerphones for almost every provider except sprint. Did i mention Sanyo is way way over rated and sprint shouldn't be brainwashing and promoting it so much as this great exclusive.

The v710 is a good phone...I would have it today but I am spoiled with unlimited WEB access aka Vision. I could not get used to using my minutes on the web....and the Get It Now Packages are steep...$14.99 a month to send 40 pictures/750 sms/mobile web and it still uses your minutes- Not to mention if you hate Sprint content pricing well take a look at Verizon GET ME MORE (LOL)...Decisions Decisions...I have holding out for the Sanyo 5600
hm you make soem good points. Basically Sprint has lost for now with phones. But I do worry i have a good plan with Sprint and that Verizon doens't have as good of plans especially with as you mentioned webv(vision) and txt msgs. So we can only hope that sprint comes out with some good phones and continues to do what it has done in the past having the best phones and before any other provider especially their main competition Verizon.
I just can't put all my hope into the 5600 as its still a Sanyo and i feel it will just be a 5500 with more features and that important issues like the speakerphone wont be any improved. I have heard/read specs that it is supposed to be full duplex but i just dont have faith in it and highly highly doubt it will be as good as the Motorolas including v710 speakerphone which they have had for long now.
Sprint needs to please get some other phone manufac including Moto and stop relying on subpar Sanyo.

yeah, we all know you hate the Samsung becasue you have that forever loving relationship with your Toshiba...
Anyways, what is separating the A700 from the MOTO V710. The Samsung offers the same kind of camera, video recording. With the exception of the 710's horrible implimentation of BT, there is not much difference between the two phones. Someone would like to fill me in on the major differences...?
why do i get sucked into writing so many replies and answering stupid questions like this not be rude but i only briefly looked at the specs and i turn away from teh samsung a700 righ toff the bat before looking any further then fact that it has only 65k color display which also looks smaller then 2.2" which not only my current toshiba has but the v710 has now too. Plus the samsung MM sprint crap doesnt' even have speakerphone. its useless.
Advice to sprint: forget Samsung and employ Moto quickly before you lose.

I have one myself.. I can say that the phone is overrated. Bluetooth is crippled :furious:
While my v600 with at&t the bluetooh i can transfer pics, rings, etc.. the v710 only can be use as a modem or headset.. freaking verizon and their get it now thing
Now.. I am thinking of a mm-700 :hee:
ok all this BT crippled and Verizones crap plans and having to pay for txt msg and pic send and web are valid points. So basically Verizon is crap which I have always thought and thats why I stayed away from them and went to sprint.
But i'm sorry the mm 700 is crap too. I guess I will try and be patient and wait for new sprint phones but I am getting antsy and not that i'm impatient or always needing a new phone but sprint is just getting lame with teh categorizing VM and MM while tmobile has Sharp phone now and Verizon has this great Motorola phone with 2.2" screen like my toshiba and a 50 times better speakerphone and yes i have the stupid sanyo vm4500 which i let my wife use because i think its not that great and though it has som featurez the toshiba doesn't the screen is crap compared to the the toshiba.
I can understand Sprint can't get the Sharp phone like tmobile as its gsm or even teh NEC or Panasonic fphones like ATT but they better get their act together and get some good Motorola phones quick with the good full duplex speaker phone that Moto has been doing for years now and yet no manufac for sprint have been able to do do yet. I repeat all speakerphone for sprint are not acceptable. And yes i want cam and vid as well but speakerphone is very important. Now that moto is doing vidoe as well its really simple.

no it hasn't really helped because i think it is way better then the vm4500 which i also have. Speakerphone is one of the most important features to me.
And by saying that if Sprint had the phone you wouldn't but it. Well a lot of ppl would say dont say that. they should bring it to sprint and then we could decide for ourselves. We know the phone like any phone is not perfect but the thing we hate most about it is that it is on Verizon. Here at sprint we are used to having the best phones and long before other carriers. If they would just hurry up and add this to sprint we could stop agonizing over it and eveyrthing would be fine. Then we could move on to anticipating and demanding the next set of features and new phones.
As consumers we must deamnd the new features and better phones. as it is we get the technology a year and more behind japan.

I am a sprint defender in most cases and can't not stand Verizone. But please you are fighting a losing battle. Do not stand by the A700 MM crap. it has a 65k screen which is a step way backward and its small screen as well and yes no speakerphone just like on samsung vid phone is a very very big negative so you are fighting the wrong battel.
I stand by Sprint for the Sanyo 5500 and the Toshiba 9950 which i have both. The new phones including both samsung vm and mm modles do not cut it and even the first mp phone the sanyo is just an 8200 with a mp camera and had just that feature but lacked all the features the 5500 have and toshiba have so it isn't an option.
Point is the sanyo 5500 and the Toshiba are starting to get old and aren't going to hold up to all these new phones from other carriers namely the Moto v710 form verizon and the Sharp T150? for Tmobile and others i may not be aware of yet.
Sprint needs to come out with some good phones and quick and not these speakerphoneless Samsung jokes or these add 1 new feature mp cam phone but missing everything else that previous modles have. noone is going to upgrade from the toshibas qvga 2.2" screen to a smaller screen on the new sanyo phone just for the mp cam.
With a new phone you need to build on the features curent models have and then add. a new feaure or 2. no ad a features but takeothers away. Seems like a simple concept bu theykeep messing it up. Part of it is they want to spread outthe features toas many diff phones as possible so that no phone has allthe features forcing ppl like myself to buy 2 phones as in the cae of the toshiba and the 5500

Yes we all agree that Verizon sucks and we can't stand them and dont know why so many ppl are on verizon when they could be talking free mobile to mobile to all us smart sprint users.
I think the main point here is that we want competing and better phones for Sprint which is one of their main selling points and why man of us are with sprint in the first place. And lately their newest additions have been very disappointing and subpar and we are starting to get annoyed. I mean i am glad not to have to buy a new phone but the fact tha ti'm considering switching to verizon because they actually for the first time ever have a better phone then sprint believe it or not that we can't even match let alone beat is sickeing.
The main and more detailed point here is quite simply as he says is BRING MOTOROLA BACK TO SPRINT AND FAST. They make the sturdiest phones with best speakerphone. It will be nice to have another choice instead of these horrible samsung phones and again imo Sanyo is no exclusive to write home about it despite the widespread brainwashing by sprint even on well educated users on these forums who i'm assuming just dont know there is way better phones out there and maybe haven't used a moto.
Anyway speaking of the main order of business here.
Should we sign a petition of millions of sprint subscribers telling Sprint we are going to leave sprint if they dont bring Motorola back. Maybe that will send a msg.

I know!!!!!....I will just not mention them and just keep repeating that their is no speaker phone, and that you cannot take pictures with the flip closed...!!! That will make everyone beleive!!!!"
Seriously man, this how you make your self off to sound like
hm, i think you are the one over reacting
and I will repeat a million times "THE SAMSUNG HAS NO SPEAKERPHONE" that says it all and is unacceptable. I have the damn toshiba and i'm not saying this to defend it. In fact the speakerphone sucks but its better then not having one at all and yes you cannot use the speakerphone on the toshiba with the flip closed which sucks . I also have the stupid sanyo 5500 and the speaker is only slightly better and can be used with flip closed but still not acceptable to me. I am spoiled by motorolas speakerphone on phones for nextel and their speakerphones on modles for other providers including Verizon are just as good.
I find it strange that you cannot use speakerphone on teh v710 with flip closed as with most motos you can. But i would still take it any day over the sanyo speakerphone wtih flip closed action.
I want camera and all too but i have to admit i and most will use speakerphone open and/or closed more then cam. Trust me if you have any Moto phone with its good full duplex speakerphone for a week or more you will use it and find it usefull and can't live without it, in fact on nextel moto i used the speakerphone more then the normal handset sound because it is that good and undistinguisable that it is speakerphone to both you and person on other end.
YOu would and will never ever be able to buy either the vm or mm Samsung with no speakerphone ever. This isn't about one phone vs another. this is about missing important feature and Sprint stupidly not having a deal with a phone manufacturer which makes the strudiest phone with best speakerphone and now 2.2" just like our beloved toshibas.

So now, I guess I am a troll for denouncing your hatred for the A700.. lol
oh i forgot the other mp phone is Audiovox nto sanyo and its 1.3 while the Moto is 1.2 and the samsung is 1.02 or whatever and yes the samsung is horrible and not because i dont have it or can't afford it. i dont care how expensive or how cheap. it is a crap tease to hold us over to the new phones. Samsung makes some nice looks/designs they jsut better get their act together with speakerphone. and larger size screen.

ok thanks for the point although i would argue they both matter. a screen using 252k colors as opposed to 65k is a big noticeable difference. Resolution can be made smaller or bigger but say a picture you put on the phone as screensaver is going to start to lose quality if you raise the res. Maybe i'm not expert on res but yes the Toshiba has 240x320 which i think the mto 710 has as well on same size 2.2" screen so i wouldn't consider a phone that has any less then a 2.2" 240x 320 screen. though even if the moto 710 isn't qvga i can overlook that for the 10 times better speakerphone. Bottom line is i would trade in both my anyo 5500 and Toshiba 9950 for the Moto 710.
I used to think about getting a sprint phone on verizon network to be able to get the free mobile to mobile with all our freinds and fam that have verizon. But now i think a great solution would be a way to get the Moto 710 to work on sprint network.
Lets get a thread going on how to do that until we can get the petition signed and sent to sprint to bring the 710 and Moto in general to sprint as that may take longer then just buyinga 710 and fixing it to work on sprint.

No, you are no expert by the way you are talking...
240x320 resolution means that the display is a QVGA one...The moto V710 uses the SAME screen resolution of the Samsung A700, which is 176x220, and uses the SAME color amount for the screen...So the two displays are extremely similar...Please don't post about screens if you don't even know what a QVGA screen is...

Samsung look nice i think ok does that make you happy? but guess what they are crap so far. I'm not saying they dont have a chance to make them better and I would love to become a samsung lover like you but right now the sad truth is they are crap and that is why we are unhappy. understand?
you seemed to be all bent out of shape . accusing some guy of being a Toshiba 4050 lover/defender and this and that. Seems like you are just an A700 defender and whatever else i guess you are prob just not worth responding to because you think Sprint doesnt' need Moto. oh but we do you crappy a700 lover and overpriced at that.

sorry, all I read was "I am dumb, so the only word in my vocabulary is "crap"... :eyeroll:
You have no basis for saying any of these phones are crap..., All Samsung's, A700, MOTO V710, Sanyo 4500, Toshiba 4050..Just stop it with the word crap, you sound like a ****ing idiot...
Don't talk abou screens or anything else until you actually know what the hell you are talking about. You have already proved that you don't... :eyeroll:

You don't even know what you are talking about when you open your mouth of the A700, and accuse it of crap... so my suggestion is to just shut the **** up...
oh and I have heard what is coming and i've explained my opinion on that. First off all i hear of mostly is the Sanyo 5600 adn as i've explained i can't put all my hopes into that phone because I feel it will disappoint. I hope I am wrong and pleseantly surprised and it has a 2.2" qvga 240x320 or better screen with cam, vid and a quality full duplex speaker phone like the moto 710. That is all I ask and is not a lot and is already being done (by the 710, heh)
But the bottom line is , it is not here or out now and 3 months is long. all tha tmatters is present time and that is how sprint has done good. not by hoping and wiatin gwhat is on the horizon only to be disappointed.

Samsung, and the SPCS phone release say that the A700 has a 262 color screen.
Main Display: 176 x 220 pixel, 262K color TFT display.
THE SCEEN IS 2.0 INCHES!!! THAT IS STILL A LARGE SCREEN; STOP TRYING TO PASS IT OFF AS SMALL...
http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=MM-A700&selTab=Specifications
Look for yourself....
Sprint says 65k colors for the A700 you samsung lover.
"Large Full-Color Screen Vivid 2.0" main (176 x 220 pixels) and external color sub-LCD. Both are TFT and support 65K colors for easy reading and a rich, full-color experience." http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/PhonesAccessories/PhoneDetails.jsp?navLocator=%7Cshop%7CphonesAccess ories%7CvideoPhones%7C&selectSkuId=spha700bss&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1521449&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_SCID=ECOMM&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_PCode=None&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group&bmUID=1093326278502
and yes you are right about the res is the same though, but 2.0 is not 2.2 and i'd gladly give up the 240x320 res of the Tosh for the better speakerphone and other added features of the moto 710. Basically i'm upgrading everything going to the moto from the tosh adn all i'm losing is res.
with the samsung you are losing a lot man. Just give it up and dont worry about it. I'm sure the Sanyo MM phone will be great but i just think the VM and MM categories are lame and that Sprint needs to bring Moto on.

We don't know if the Samsung A700 is 262k or not. The Sprint press release said 262L, Samsung says 262K, but SPCS says 65K on their product page...Anyways, it wouldn't make much of a difference either way. Its resolution where you can see the main difference....
With the Samsung you are not loosing voice signal technology, you are not missing the Sprint TV functionality...You are loosing a speaker phone, and removable proprietary memory card slot, and bad BT. The MOTO V710 does have more features than the Samsung A700, no denying that, but to say that the Toshiba has more is just wrong...

Ok, thanks for clearing everything up. Believe I would not say the Toshiba has more. The Toshiba has nothing except a great screen. But somehow its enough for me to use it as my phone and I let my wife use the 4500 even though its superior in every other way except screen.
that is part of the problem. I am spoiled by the Toshiba screen adn compare everything else to it and dont want to downgrade. It is just my opinion based on past use with moto phones i like them and good full dup speakerphone is importnat to me. enough that I would go down in res from the Tosh to the moto for it, becasue at least i'm keeping the 2.2 size.
This is all opinion and i'm glad you like the A700 and dont need speakerphone. I think we are all just frustrated.
I do however think you are wrong in thinking Sprint doesn't need Motorola. They make good phones and they have to match Verizon who already matches sprint with Samsung and has more LG phones. All sprint has is Sanyo which i think are over rated. Maybe that is why sprint wont off the good new Motos because they are afraid that will take away sales from their precious exlsusive with Sanyo. But that is just hurting us the sprint users who would like the option of the good new Moto phones with delicous speakerphone.

I recently got a chance to check out the 710 though only briefly and i will say that for one i was surprised and impressed with the external display. It was larger them i thought and must be the biggest external display of any flip/clamshell phone. I forget its specs but i think its just 65k but i've heard it looks great for picture caller id. Its definately better and bigger then this toshiba external display. The main display looks bigger them the toshiba which is just an illusion but well done. As far as how it looks compared to the toshiba i would have to put the same screen saver picture on and compare but i know the moto is lower res then the toshiba. One thing i did notice that is bad is that pictures didn't fill the screen but maybe there is a way to do it. The phone did have moving pictures probably for screen saver which the toshiba and sanyo can't really do. Pictures i took in the store did look just as good or better them on toshiba and sanyo so i don't know why people were acting so disappointed.

One thing great about the toshiba is that you can make the time and date really small and at bottom of screen with only small battery and signal at top so as to enjoy the whole two point two inch 240 320 qvga screen. If the moto can't do that them it takes away from having that size screen. Overall though at first but brief glance it seems great and i don't know why sprint didn't get it but they better and not a year later like verizon usually does. They better have moto making them more phones period and stop depending on and promoting their sanyo exclusive which isn't as great as they act. The 5600 doesn't really seen any better then the moto and its not due out until christmas or later. Not acceptable sprint.

Well what if the 5600 was EV-DO capable? Not saying if it is or not, because i really don't know. But it seems to be falling in that time range... Then would that be acceptable?
I currently have an A700 and a Motorola V600 on ATTWS. I love the fact that it is metal and the bluetooth is nice ( it works with PDA's and PC's alike) the camera is actually on par with the A700 (no video though). If it is true, then the V710 is the only Moto BT phone that won't allow connectivity as metioned above. Overall, the A700 is a nicer phone with more features. I wish it was metal, but it is considerably lighter.
All of the above mentioned issues are not unique to the V710. Other than the BT connectivity, those are all known issues with the V600 as well. That is why everyone at ATTWS has been flashing their V600's with non-branded firm and software. I also have the Moto V600 w/ ATT and was active on the ATTWS forums and HOFO. Now I have an A700 on Sprint as well. I like the BT and metal case, but those are the only advantages over the A700. That and ATTWS coverage in my state (3 times that of Sprint) and the roaming agreements w/ T-mobile & Cingular in my area (free roaming at no charge). I do miss that. M mode sux though.

oh so you left ATT? how are they? sounds great to roam on T-Mobile and Cingular at no charge where sprint charges you $5/mo extra to roam on Verizon. which does happen sometimes especially indoor places without windows like department stores etc. (i guess Verizons signal is stronger then sprint at getting through buildings?)
Also ATT at least used to have phones by Panasonic and NEC which to me is a plus and better then Sanyo but i guess it depends on the model and i haven' t seen any new phones from those makes for ATT. just cool that they seemed to be the only ones to get phones from those 2 companies.
As far as the moto v710 vs. the Samsung A700, i think the Moto is much better.

yeah that would be hot. but bt would be better as I dont see what the benefits are of ev-do as i only know it to be faster data/web speed, which vision is already adequate adn its not like you need broadband speed as you aren't dling anyting that big on the phones limited memory even with mem card. I do however take back that the 5600 doesnt' have anything the moto v710 doesnt have as the 5600 has qvga screen supposedly and that is huge and enough for me to give up bt for which is the one feature the 710 has over the 5600. In other words to me the qvga screen is a feature that outweighs bt. the 5600 seems to be the most and best combinations of features.
It seems to match up against the v710 exactly exept 5600 has qvga and 710 has bt, only diff and again i choose qvga over bt.
but if the 5600 ends up having the EV whatever higher speed plus bt added lst minute, it would be the to be all to end all sickest phone. not going to happen though in fact i'm skeptical as it is about 2 of the supposed featues and that is the qvga as noone but toshiba and sharp have it and the full duplex speaker as mostly only moto has that.

Isn't this thread about the Motorola v710 being greater then anything else currently available. hm sure looks like thats what the topic says.
that being said, how is someone a "troll" when they mention that a sprint rep told them that sprint is getting a new moto phone in jan. even if the info isn't accurate he's just saying what the rep told him and wouldn't that be considered good news if sprint got the phone.
I didn't realize if you mentioned some good news that makes you a "troll". is that the definition of the word, someone who mentiones possible good news and completely on subject with teh topic?
