Use HTML, make things small enough for phone screens and that's about it... Everything is pretty easy. I've made one myself that I use for local doppler radar, temp, 5 day forecast and some other information.

Try a google search, I'm sure there's something there that will give you step by step instructions.

I am trying to make a site so that people can downlaod screensavers and mids, but canot figure out how to link to the file correctly. If I link directly to an mid file it just plays on the phone, it dose not downlaod it to the phone. how can I make it downlaod? And is it the same for jpg's. Thank You for your help. and could you show me some examples. I have looked at many tutorials but can't find info on this matter.

ok heres the thing I tried looking at all those wap tutorials and all it got me was comfuzzled so I think I may be able to break it down for you first get a desktop server I recommend either Key Focus or small http then if you use key focus create a directory in you C drive called sprint or something like that if you use small http then the directory is already there called www then go to dyndns.org and sign up for a free subdomain then put all your qcp files in that directory www or the one you created next make your gcd files using the gcd creator found on the downloads page on this forum! in the gcd creator it will have a box that says Content-URL: there you will put http://domainyouregisteredatdyndns.org/yourringtonename.qcp the key is to make sure that your rintone does not have a space in the name!!! After you make your gcd file make sure you put that in the same directory as your qcp file! Then to make your index page I use frontline you want to hyperlink to the gcd file which would look something like this http://domainyouregisteredatdyndns.org/yourringtonename.gcd if you need any more information feel free to e-mail or pm me! I can take a screenshot of html if you need you just have to make sure that your html is simple so that the phone can support it! I don't do wml or wap it got way to confusing for me! Shannon
By the way don't click on the blue links as they will take you noowhere!! just run the mouse over it and look at the bottom of your browser! if you are making a gcd for a midi file no problem just put .mid or .midi instead of .qcp in the filename!

I know that the phone browser supports placing calls from a web page. I've used this a few times when looking up phone numbers over the web. What is the code or method to hyperlink a phone number? I'd like to keep a smaller phone book in my phone and convert my big list of contacts into a web page.

Finally found an answer for my own question. Check out this site. I've not tried it yet, but it looks like good information!

Call Lenny <go href="wtai://wp/mc;+15555551234"/>
Add to phone book <go href="wtai://wp/ap;+15555551234;Bruce"/>

An effort to clear things up....ok heres the thing I tried looking at all those wap tutorials and all it got me was comfuzzled so I think I may be able to break it down for you.

1. get a desktop server. I recommend either Key Focus or small http.
2. then....
- if you use key focus create a directory in you C drive called sprint or something like that
- if you use small http then the directory is already there called www
3. (optional) go to dyndns.org and sign up for a free subdomain
4. put all your qcp files in that directory www or the one you created
5. make your gcd files using the gcd creator found on the downloads page on this forum! in the gcd creator it will have a box that says Content-URL: there you will put http://domainyouregisteredatdyndns.org/yourringtonename.qcp. the key is to make sure that your rintone does not have a space in the name!!!
- After you make your gcd file make sure you put that in the same directory as your qcp file!
6. to make your index page (I use frontline) you want to hyperlink to the gcd file which would look something like this http://domainyouregisteredatdyndns.org/yourringtonename.gcd

if you need any more information feel free to e-mail or pm me! I can take a screenshot of html if you need it. you just have to make sure that your html is simple so that the phone can support it! I don't do wml or wap it got way to confusing for me! Shannon

Woo. I've not been here much lately. I'm trying to stay in one cell phone for more than three months, and I can't do that if I stay here! I'll be here more when I get near 18 months. :)

Since this thread started, Microsoft has released Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition. They released it for free to people who download it before this November. I've been mucking about with it, and it provides drag-and-drop development of both web sites and wireless web sites. You can drag a phonecall component right into a page design. There is support for device-specific functions. It's a good thing.

Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Download (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/)
Though I suggest downloading from the less efficient, but more useful download help page, where you can find .iso files that don't require a connection to microsoft's servers to install.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/

In toying around with the products, I've created a tool to convert IP addresses from dotted quad to a DWord.

as others have said WAP (wml) is not the way to go any more, trust me, I tried. just do a small format HTML page. your MIME types need to be set either on the server or with an .htaccess file.

something like this for themes and games/apps

AddType text/x-pcs-gcd gcd
AddType x-pcs/theme gc
AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
AddType application/java-archive jar

http://corz.org/serv/tricks/htaccess.php has a lot of information about .htaccess files.

we are really high!:tu:

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
