it works... but yeah like stated earlier, volume slider to increase volume would be nice… low end frequencies produces distortion on these tiny speakers so if there is a way to turn those frequencies down would also be nice… i guess i could do that myself on an editor before conversion… anyway, keep up the good work…

awesome, thank you cyclebiff!! http://deephousepage.com/smilies/beerchug.gif
worked for me on the first try to my sanyo 7300.
i use mp3 but would imagine that accepting other formats would be a +.
my only request would be a volume control to make it louder.
would it matter if my mp3 was louder or not?
as for the trim start|stop time thing. is that for using a part that's in the middle of the song?
please explain the triming more. other that that works great.
hats off!

I've been editing songs before I convert just as PhoneBone did and the ringer sounded much better. I've only done 2 rings so far but they are way louder than all other voice ringers I've ever downloaded. Not to mention I can edit them to contain the best parts of the song myself. Pretty much for me you've taken the hardest part out of the way with your converter. Being on a Mac and trying to get the converting programs (qualcom pure voice) was a big hastle for me. My computer crashed (big time) when trying to download the program which I wouldn't even be able to convert anyways on a Mac. So that's my story. I'll keep you posted with my converting updates.

Cyclebiff, I emailed you last night...I got it to work at home, got the qcp file, uploaded it to my phone using the focus uploader here and all of them I tried, 5 or so...were all completely distorted couldn't make out any song. I only tried one mp3, so I'll try another when I get home... I have a Toshiba 4050 is it compatible?? Thanks again

anyone know the differences between real tones for various mobile companies. i am trying to configure an app. that will allow users to convert/upload tones for a few different providers.

i am having difficulty finding information on this.

do they all use qcp files?

could you upload tones via sprint utilities like focus or www.t1mmy.net/visionTool.html?

any help is greatly appreciated!

cyclebiff-
just used the converter and
i got this message when it was finished:
Warning: unlink(): No such file or directory in /home/sites/site9/web/richie/convert.php on line 35

Warning: unlink(/home/sites/site9/web/richie/62411102.mp3): No such file or directory in /home/sites/site9/web/richie/convert.php on line 51
Your file was sucessfully converted! You can download it (for the next 10 minutes) at: http://www.londonproperties.com/richie/51437465.qcp(Hint: right click, save as).

even so i used the focus uploader and i downloaded to my phone fine except there was no song.
the mp3 was 5:33 and i wanted it to trim from 3:19 to 3:51
if that helps.
the second one i did had the same error but i didn't even try to send it to my phone. that one was 6:24 and i wanted to trim 00:00 to 00.31

When I tried it, my song came out as if someone had sped up the timing...like it compressed the speed of the file and instead of playing it for 6:30, it compressed down to the 00:30 that I wanted for my ringer. Sound was good overall, but a little lower than I would have liked for my phone.

BlkChubMD
08-27-2004, 09:21 AM
Didn't work for me. Tried two different songs. One just came out as 1 second of silence, the other had 1 second of a ripping noise. When looped, it sounds like someone scratching a record on the turntables.

Tips:
Like others said, volume & status bar needed. On my computer, it just sits there for about 5 minutes, seemingly not doing anything. There was no loading, or no computer noise for a while. Made me think that it wasn't going to do anything. Then all of a sudden...the download link popped up.

Something new you may try. A preview of the song on the website or a wav version to save to computer so we can know what it sounds like before we go through the trouble of sending it to our phone with the focus uploader would be awseome.

Thanx for the effort though. At least someone out here is trying to do it. Keep up the good work. Let me know when its finished.

Shawn

a good feature would be in input your phone number and have it send the file directly to your phone (such as the focus uploader does).

MinorThreat
09-13-2004, 09:33 AM
also, this worked fine with my 8200, there is a bit of distortion, but as someone said before, editing some of the bass out of it with an audio editor prior to conversion would solve most of the problems. The difference with some songs comming out distorted and some not probably has more to do with the dynamics of the song being converted and less with the converter itself.

Guys an Gals,

Thursday the 16th of September I have disabled the converter with preparation for the new update ive been promising for a month now.

A note on the code: It is really complex and server-specific. I have been getting emails with people wanting me to share the code and that opens up a lot of problems being that you need to know a lot about linux to do this program. Answer: I will add a module soon to let people use the server HOWEVER I need to assess the costs because at any one time the server is bogged with conversion requests! The free version will remain free :)

I am also setting it up in a new location (off my companys domain ugh trouble there), will move to dev.yellowlabrador.net as soon as the DNS changes are made.

HELP!!! I am in need of somebody to help me with adding stuff to the site features, more than just a simple converter, possibly help me make a better FREE site. Only people with time to help (a designer would be great, i dont have time for graphics right now).
