LOL, now all of us who immediately purchased a bodyglove case for our 5500s or leather cases for our toshibas and a680s can buy a new baby and not have to worry about dropping it.

Sanyo usually releases their phones about 1 month after FCC approval i.e. Sanyo 5500 was approved end of OCT and Released end of NOV. So there is still chance

This sounds like a really secret phone. All the other phones that sprint has come out with have had pics of it on the web way before it is launched. Sprint is doing a good job not telling anything about this phone eventhough it is going to launch next month. Guess we will see....

Well at least a megapixel camera. And other things could include BT, OLED outer display, etc. You know, stuff that other phones have.

Yeah cause all the other Sprint phones have that stuff...I don't know of any CDMA BT phones except the T608 and the V710, MP cameras are scarce, 2 on Sprint to be exact...and OLED displays...wow you ask for a lot.

I think hes just dissapointed that all this phone is is a 4500 with rubber grips...

There already is an MM (multimedia?) phone out and its the MMA700 by Samsung and i think its crap because 1. it has no speakerphone and 2. its only 65k colors.

So that is a step backwards not forwards to me. I hate to say it but where as befor Sprint seemed ahead of the game with phones, they seem to be falling behind and getting lame with their categorizing of phones like the VM phones and MM.

Already Tmobile brought a Sharp mp cam phone with QVGA display etc. to their lineup. Sharp phones have long been known as great and largely imported by ppl in US for use on GSM networks even at a high price because they were such great and nice looking phones.

Now, Even Verizon known to always have the worst phones and be very late matching the technology of the other providers comes out of nowhere with a Motorola phone with a perfect speakerphone that Motorola is known ot have the best of where as sprint doesnt' have really a single phone with as good of if any at all of a full duplex speakerphone. And the v710 has video to match sprint and other features sprint doesnt' have yet like bluetooth.

I have to say, things aren't looking good for sprint and times change very quickly and it looks like for now they are starting to lose and I will be leaving Sprint. I just dont have the confidence in their new upcoming phones in fall. I never have thought Sanyo is that great and dont think i will be htat impressed with the the 5600 even with all it promises and these MM phones so far are lame with 65k colors as even this sanyo MM phone you speak of looks to have in specs listed here.

Sprint really better recruit Motorola , Sharp, NEC, and Panasonic to make phones for them instead of heavily relying and falsely promoting Sanyo as the best only because they are exclusive to them as Sanyos really are nothing to write home about in my opinion from using them despite everyones brainwashing from sprint that they are the best. Maybe the best for sprint but their phones dont compare to the brands i mentioned above. Of course to be fair only ATT has NEC and Pana phones and few to speak of but most all have Moto and i never see any good if any at all Moto phones from Sprint . And with Tmobile getting Sharp now. Sprint is going to go down as the only thing that brings ppl to Sprint is the better phones and first with new technology. Looks like this is a minor setback and beginning of a downward slide for sprint unless they get their act together phonewise.

My suggestions, stop trying to categorize phones into VM and MM etc. and get as many manufacturers as possible. A Moto , Sharp, NEC , or Panasonic phone even if they make for other carriers is better then an over rated exclusive with Sanyo. And be the first to have new phone technology and have teh best and most selections of phones and you will stay in the game. If not say goodbye, because they wont stay afloat.

yeah I've heard/read that the resolution is more important to how the screen looks then the colors but I wouldn't want to go back to 65k colors for a main screen , maybe for a sub but thats it. 176x 220 still isn't 240x320 and I wouldn't want to go down from that. I guess the Sanyo 4500 i have is only 128x160 though.

But if the new Sanyo 5600 is going to be 240x320 qvga like the Toshiba and have everything the 5500 has and samsung a700 has plus plus full duplex speakerphone then it will be great. But who wants to wait until november? Also I am wary about the speakerphone whether it will really even be full dup and if so what the quality will be. I have trouble believing it will be as good as Motorolas full dup speakerphones including the v710.

I dont want to jump ship because of my plan etc. with vision and unlimited txt msgs and pic mail etc to my wife (i let her use the sanyo 4500). But I was thinking even though its only $6 extra a month because she was complaining i didnt come to verizon so we dont have free mobile to mobile but now with sprint we have that and txt msg and pic mail ( i dropped vid maild because didn't want to pay that on top of the rest) but for Verizon , web, txt msgs, and pic mail is way more expesive and uses minutes and stuff. Otherwise i would get the v710 on verizon as my second phone for talking to her and other verizon ppl. Because if i'm going to pay for a second phone at all the way I do now. Why should she get to have both carriers and 2 phones and i mostly just use the Tosh. Problem is to get the 710 on verizon even with cheapest plan just to use to her and other verizon friends fam will prob be more expensive then the add a phone feature on sprint especially with my plan because it is basically free to add a phone so i dunno. I originally did it because i couldn't decide between the Tosh and the 4500 and what the best of both. But you can really only use 1 phone at a time and the whole point was to let her use it for free mobile to mobile and txt msgs and pic mail etc. but again it seems like i got the short end of the deal to pay anything extra even if it is just $6 just so she gets 2 phones and 2 providers and I"m stuck with just the Tosh, because i couldn't give up the screen even though the 4500 has better vid and other features or is just better at some stuff like speakerphone which although also subpar is better then the Tosh speaker which i'm constantly getting frustrated with because i use it a lot.

I think i should drop my add a phone and just get the 710 with cheapest plan on verizon. then she can't complain about not having mobile to mobile and that way i get 2 phones and 2 provider plus the only way to get the new sanyo for sprint when it comes is going to use the add a phone feature right? so i will re add a second line then.

What is the cheapest way to get a new phone with sprint if you are already under contract? add a phone i assume if your plan has it and i've seen ppl say something about $100 rebate or something.

I just wish Motorola made phons like that for sprint. I even contacted them about it and they said they dont make it for sprint and they themselves can't/wont fix one to work on sprint.

That is the actual phone. I have seen it a few times. The only thing fake on the phone is the simulated picture (as with any stock phone photo displayed that way).

The N400 was added to the sprint lineup as one of the first "vision" handsets. Along with the Sanyo 4900 & the Samsung A500 the n400 helped pave the way for picture mail and vision in 2002.

i never had any probs with my n400 i dont see how it was such a piece of crap i dont even see a noticeable difference in signal between the n400 and a680. my mom had one too for 9 months and it was fine too. i loved how you could use it with the flip closed . the only thing i didnt like was it rebooting sometimes for no reason

Exactly. Though some claim that Sprint does not reject foreign ESN and some claim they do. You could always try it out with a friendly rep.

yeah i've heard of ways of doing it on your own and ways of doing it with a helpful rep. It would be smart of sprint to allow this. Its just funny because usually ppl were trying to use all the great sprint phones on verizons good network because verizon never had any decent phones.

I did ask Motorola if there was any way and they just said no.
I do know that it is easier with gsm phones and that Sprint uses a diff frequency then Verizon. Either way I somewhat overlooked this option and that would definatley solve a lot of my problem and dilemna. I would think Sprint would say no even if it meant losing a $100+/mo customer in me but maybe I'll try. If not I probably will just quit sprint at lest until they get a good phone that i like then maybe I'll come back.

In the meantime if anyone knows of anyone to talk to or any way to use the Moto v710 on Sprint that would be great as I only have a little over a week before I am stuck with Verizon and then will have to cancle sprint instead.

If we do find out a way to do this it will make a lot of sprint customers happy and keep a lot of ppl who want this phone with sprint as you could just get the phone for the 2yr contract price then cancel the Verizon contract in the first 14 days and keep the phone. They can't make you return the phone or make you pay the full price after the fact can they?

Today on my lunch break ( I work at a Sprint store in Kansas City ), and I saw this guy using a 7400!!! I had to look again to make sure that it was, and it was!!! if i send my A700 back to sprint(15 day window) go to bestbuy(90day window) and buy the A700 in the mean time to see if the sanyo will in fact be better than the A700(somehting i am eager to find out)
1. the A700 will not/can not take pics with lid shut
2. the camera swivel is not that great it actually pisses me off more often than not

those are two HUGE things IMO
and if the sanyo can do them, and have better storage(MM card of some sort) then i am jumping **** for it.
