Thanks Flip, do you know if there is a way to repeat an image like a wall paper with some kind of filter maybe all over the canvas? I did that manually and didn't do it very evenly if you see at the top right. Nugo maybe you'd know some way to do this, but i'm not sure..

No, you can't have it (only donators get special attention to detail ;) ). But you can have something like it. It's still pretty slick if you ask me, if not better than my avatar.

one more variation... this time i tried a little multicoloring, and i threw in a different image. startin to get the hang of things. this is my very first attempt at all of this (brushes, blending, coloring, etc)... not bad if i say so myself. gotta love tutorials

Haha no way. I don't have the time and patience to draw. Though the results come out pretty good when I do, it's just not worth it when you can find some pretty bad ass renders/drawings on the net.

It still takes work though, I'm sure you know, to chop an image out from its original background and seamlessly blend it into your created background... but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. Like for me, the last few pictures I posted were the first attempts ever at most of the things I did... feathering, brushing, color-shifting, blending, brush layering, etc... but I learned how to do that all in a matter of hours yesterday, so I think pretty much anyone can do it.

yeah with phortoshop u can do pretty much anything, I enjoy making wallpapers and also doing sigs wich is easy like flip said u just have to learn some tricks wich is creating ur own background by brushing, blending the image u want usually we shoose the game renders, blending the text and making ur own border whatever u think is good for ur sig, the best part in this if u go in the sigs forums there is a competition every week that u can enter if u win it they give a price for that.

this is one that I just made from this two images and I enter in the sig of the week battle , had to make my own logo behind the text.

My wife and I just purchased two Sanyo 8200's and would love two custom wallpapers!

The first a blueish ocean type with Chris written on it?
The second some white design over pink with Miranda written on it?

We just upgraded from Nokia 3390's, so as you can imagine this is whole new world for us and would appreciate the hook up. Thank you in advance to anyone who helps me out

Right On flipn0tic!, she loves it!! I am having a problem getting it to her phone. Everytime I try and save the pic it forces me to save it as a bmp file. Am I being a computer idiot right now, I tried to convert it to a jpg file but it comes out black on the phone. What am I doing wrong? :(

To save it correctly, right click on the picture and select "Save Picture As...". And before you save it, go down to where it says "Save as type:" (should be right below "Filename:"), click it and select .JPG instead of .BMP.

Here is a generic "Incoming Call" wallpaper I made:

It should resize for every phone without too much distorting. If it does distort, let me know so I can make one specifically for your phone. I also included a few with different colors. I have one for every shade of every color, just ask.

What is the deal? Do I have a setting set up somewhere that I cannot locate. Could it be a browser thing? I feel like I know a little something about computers, and I can not figure it out. Why would my computer only let me save it as a bmp file? Thanks for any input.

Well if you have windows what you can do is save it as a bmp file on to the desktop, then right click it , select open with and choose paint(you know the regular paint program). Then when it opens click file , save as and from the dropdown menu on the bottom select jpeg and then you will have a jpeg insted of a bmp :) !!!!!

That's not so good a method because paint lowers the quality by a lot.

You guys are fast!! The paint tricked worked but I do see that the quality deminished. Why am I having this issue? I have a standard P4 Dell system, Windows XP...pretty standard stuff. Why would it not allow me to save as a JPG file?

i dont know that is ierd because i have windows xp too, everything standard exept im using firefox. What browser are you using?? have you tried to right click and save as on the attatchment links???

Flip you are the man!! I was able to figure out how to convert the .bmp files to .jpg's, still don't know why I have to but oh well. I also got the message from you on my phone and that is much appreciated. My wife was out doing errands and got the Miranda wallpaper and she loves it. She loves her phone now, which is a relief because she did not want to purchase new phones in the first place.

I was wondering if I might be able to get one more? Perhaps a black background with some atmosphere (ie. clouds, mist, lightning) a storm sorta thing. And then Chris kind of emerging from the clouds. I just had this idea and man it would be bada**

I am going to square away my paypal account so I can start hooking you up. I believe that good work deserves compensation. You got some skills.

Oh, as for that water effect... you may have to get in touch with some of the other artists in this thread. I have yet to learn that technique.
It's just some filters...ummmmm, go get "flaming pear" filters and use the "flood" effect... in fact, the one he posted is mine with my name...and my school's logo thingy....and a friend in Maryland had to put onto a faceplate for me, which is on my phone now....very cool

Depending on what the requester is looking for, it could take me anywhere from 30 minutes to 2-3 hours each. Art is actually a lifelong hobby of mine. I was gonna go into the profession of graphic design (was thinking along the line of Pixar and the like) but I couldn't stand the workload--too much math and programming. But it's still fun as hell to do in my spare time. I actually just picked up on the whole Photoshop craze, so it's pretty wild to think of the progress I've made since I just started a couple months ago.

Yeah it's easy. Most programs can resize, but only certain programs let you resize while retaining proportions. Also make sure you use programs that don't destroy the quality of the image when resizing. MSPaint for example is a terrible resizing program. The image viewing/editing program that I find to be the easiest and "lite-est" is Irfanview. Last I checked, it's still free.

If you select your phone model under the resize settings, yes it will automatically size it to fit. If it gets distorted too much, here's one specifically sized for your phone. Thanks. :)

Can I get this one sized for the 8200 it's called nonameBrandon on the page before this one at http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=22715 Sprint Focus is down so I can't save it and choose my phone I have to send it from another site and I don't know if it will be too big or not. I haven't much space left on my phone.

here ya go. use the first one ("rose_reflect.jpg") if you want a high quality one at ~20kb. use the second one ("rose_reflectresize.jpg") and the uploader _should_ size it down to ~6kb.

Thanks, actually Sprint Focus was down so I put the Brandon one on my phone just to try it and it covered my screen but was 26kb and I am about out of space. Actually I work with a guy named Brandon and were good friends and he calls my cell alot so I wanted it for when he calls me and I wanted to send it to him for his 7400 but Focus wasn't letting us retrieve the stuff. But I will gladly use the Rose one it's nice thanks. I deleted some Black Jack game to free up a bit of space. I have some ringers I could get rid of. I hope the 8300 has more space. I'll just keep the 26kb one cause it's so cool and I'll try getting the Rose one though Focus tomorrow.

You're gonna do some art too? If there isn't any request out there, you can always go back and do some freebies; I'd recommend doing them for contributers to SU first, just to be, I dunno, fair? :D Like you can go back 10 pages or so and just read somebody's request and even if it's been done already, you can offer a different version. Good luck man--the more artists the merrier. There are plenty of people here who can answer questions for you if you need any help.

Rumkin works great Sprint Focus is still down. I uploaded the RoseReflect one that resized it to 6kb but yeah it lost some quality and on the right side it didn't covedr my whole screen like on the left side so I used the other one that was 24kb and it looks better and covers my whole screen. I put my old screensaver on my sanyo 5600 and for some reason it doesnt look crisp....anyway can some one make this look better blown up to the Sanyo 5600 specs because it was awesome on my 8200...but is blurry on the 5600....if it cant be done please make me another one similar....thanks guys you all are the greatest....
