I still have that radioshack plan even though i haven't worked for the company in a long time. I could still get someone to get me the username and password to get to get to the RS/Verizon channel. This is definitely the phone I'm upgrading to for my VZW account! :D
Wow either the person in the pic has a really small hand or that phone is HUGE. It looks like something John Wayne would have used in one of the WWII flicks (Baker 6 Baker 6 this is Able 3 Able 3 over)
I will wait for a BT phone that fits in my pocket not a Back Pack

Motorola tends to be bad, but their new icon-based system pushes them Ahead of Samsung.
At least Motorola is consistent with button assignments... well... ok, they aren't.

I'd love to be excited about this phone because I really like the way it looks, but I'm pretty worried about the whole "it's a Motorola" thing. Every time I get a call from someone with a Motorola handset (I work for AT&T Wireless -- definitely part of the problem), I grit my teeth and wait for them to start griping about the reception. I also have two close friends on Cingular who have Moto's (120T and V60) and they always sound terrible when they call me when we both have good reception. I hope the new phones are better, because they seem to have awesome potential. Maybe the company hired back some of the original TimePort engineers... ;-)

Well I know several people who bought theirs on Ebay and they love it but say it is big...I will go with big for a 1.2 camera, true mp3 ringers, and for free since part of my job requirement is to have the latest phone ...I cant wait to get mine. I hope the v710 bluetooth will go well with my new 2004 TL that I hope will be ready on Thursday.... :eyebrow:

Motos get some of the best reception on Vzw and Sprint and in my opinion after using other phone makes including sprints exclusive Sanyo, I still like Moto the best of any phone make for any provider.

compare with what? is the Samsung MM phone for sprint? how is that? I would never get it though because it doesnt' have speakerphone while the Moto has delicious full duplex better then any sprint phone because there is no sprint phone with true full duplex speakerphone.
Sprint better wisenup on this overlooked feature and get Moto back making their newest best phones for them or it will be their downfall.
To sprints defense i think Verizon paid/bullied Moto not to release this phone for sprint until certain amount of time after verizon if ever. I guess this is Verizons way of getting back at them since Verizon never got their Toshiba phone and may never.
Of course there excuse is, that it probably never passed their testing. So are we supposed to believe that for the past few years the reason that Verizon never had one single decent phones and always got everything way way after the other providers was because it didnt' pass their rigorous testing.
I will say the Toshiba is still the only phone with 240x320 qvga screen. the moto has same 2.2" size but lower res, 176x ?.
Regardless i think overall Verizon made out in this deal getting the moto over the Toshiba based on the other features that the toshiba doesn't have and largely on the fact that the speakerphone is way way better on the toshiba.

Best way I came up with is to add it onto someone else's existing VZW account. cheapest vzw plan is 39.99 but its $20 extra a month on a family plan added onto someone elses account. as of august 23 they did away with the extra $10 you had to pay if you wanted free verizon to verizon calls on that extra line. I think that is the only change and that is good.
So i will have to give my wife $20/mo to use it and I'll just use it to call other vzw ppl/phones and also the free nights and weekends. phone is only 249 after rebate with 2yr contract which is still high, and then of course you are going to want at least the bluetooth headset for $80 let alone transflash card for transferring pics mp3s and then prob the earbuds for listening to mp3.
Its all pretty redic, especially considering I have a second phone/line on my sprint account that i let her use with arguably the better phone in the 5500 while i use the Toshiba. But its crazy that on sprint its free to add a line and on verizon its still $20 and all the web, txt msg, pic mail stuff is much cheaper on sprint especially with a 99 and up plan where most of its free.
In fact i think i just pay a total of like $6/mo on the extra line for sprint and thats because i have pic mail on it.

*SIGH*
Despite being an old thread, I feel obliged to respond. Sprint has a few full-duplex speakerphone handsets around, and any amount of actual research (read: searching) would certainly pull that up. I won't name name's because it's been done so many times before, but I assure you, Sprint does have phones that are full-duplex...

The only one I know of that has been mentioned is the Audiovox one and i dont know the model but I tryed it out and as all Audiovox phones with speakerphone full duplex and all including the ones on verizon it sucks. It may be full duplex but its so low volume that its useless.
Also it has been said that sprints phones aren't actually full duplex but something called two way speakerphone which is almost the same but not really as good and not true full duplex despite what some specs might say. Using it is the true test.
Most importantly if they do have two way speaker or supposed several models with true full duplex where are they and why would they not make their 2 best phones the Toshiba and Sanyo 5500 not have the full duplex?
Also why does Samsung not make any of their phones speakerphone. Their videophone was already useless because its screen was too small and now their MM phone with bigger screen still has no speakerphone at all.

Thats only because Verizon doesn't pay any (or hardly any) of the subsidized cost of a phone when you are still in contract. If Sprint was carrying the V710, our price would be around $400.

Before August.
your response to someone asking when sprint was getting teh v710 was this. Its now Sept. by the way. want to rephrase this? I haven't heard any news of Sprint ever getting it. We laughed when Verizon still hasn't gotten its version of the Toshiba. I guess the joke is on us now and sprint.
I personally got a v710 added onto my wifes Verizon account and am still up in the air on what to do. It seems rediculous to have a 99.99 account on sprint with 2 phones on sprint plus with taxes other charges and whatever extras i pay for like pic mail for the extra phone its like 125/mo, its great but now with the verizon phone which i use just for calling verizon ppl and on night and weekends but still i'm thinking its a little much since the phone was so much and having to pay the $20/mo just for that.
I will only save like $6/mo canceling my second line on sprint but may do that and try to get rid of one 5/mo option for now to lower my costs. At one point i was thinking of just returnign the phone and canceling the extra line on her vzw account as the it wasn't worth it and could get a bt headset for non bt phones for my tosh. But after one guy on these forums kept trying to brainwash that its too expensive of a phone and has as he called "bad" BT and that his samsung mm700 was so great.
He said i should go to the VZW and v710 forums. I did briefly check some of those out only to find out that the phone is totally worth keeping and with some tweaking, hacks , tricks whatever there is lots you can do with the phone and customizing it including use a bt pda with it to connect to internet anywhere and I'm in the market for a newe pda. So then i'm almost thinking cancel sprint and just add more minutes, web , txtmsg, pic mail etc. to her plan and i'll still be paying less then on sprint because i'm sharing it with someone. this would be the most cost effective thing for us to be on one and she will never come to sprint because her fam and too many of our freinds are on vzw. Believe me i tried even giving her the sanyo 5500 arguably the best phone on sprint to use just for txt msing, pic mail, and calls to me and her coworkers with sprint.
This is really a shame and how vzw hopes to conquer that most ppl will just give in and like how more ppl have vzw and therefore the callign to and from those ppl is free. I really like sprint and especially Vision better but I may have to just cancle sprint for now for cost reasons and just up our plan on vzw to really open up and enjoy the v710. because with sharing such small limited minutes i can't really use the web or do a limit and therefore slightly limited to what fun i can have with the fun so i might like it even better with more on teh plan.
I'm just bored of the Toshiba somewhat even though it really is still the best screen. I"m not going to switch with her to use the Sanyo as even though it has close flip speakerphone i like the screen is just too much of a downgrade from the toshiba. the Samsung video phone and the mm phone both dont have speakerphone and those are the newest phones. I don't think that the sanyo mm7400 due out maybe in Oct. is going to be nearly as good as the v710 or worth staying with sprint for and the 5600 seemingly better doesn't seem enough to wait for. Although if it turns out i like it i can always come back to sprint in Dec./Jan.
Alas I am still up in the air on what exactly to do. I know most of you here are bias to sprint and whatever phone you have but i'm just giving my opinion and honest thoughts. I just have fun with new phone technology and not looking fight with people over what phone is better etc. Just honest opinions and facts.

I dont know you tell us. What sprint phones have BT? i thought only the old sony ericson t608 thing. Maybe it was a bt headset for non bt phones. those exist. I'm glad to here that sprint store has them available especially at a time when it is a selling point of their competitors phone. I have pretty much decided that I am going to cancle verizon and stay wiht sprint, but i want to keep the v710 phone. I am just going to vehemently find a way to use it on sprint including writing Motorola over and over again until they either make it for Sprint or allow me to buy one directly from them that isn't locked into the sprint network.

Can someone give me any insight or direct me to info on how to get this phone to work on Sprint. I figure this would be a good thread to talk about the prospect of using the v710 on sprint as the title of the thread is "New Bluetooth Phone for Sprint (Motorola V710)".
Doesn't look like its ever going to be on Sprint any time soon so this is somewhat of a false title for a thread but like i said maybe we can lean this thread in the direction of getting the phone to work on Sprint. here is the info i have on getting a Sprint phone to work on Verizon so maybe its just a matter of reversing it. Either way i think it comes down to getting someone at Verizon to give you the ESN which they wont usually do and then finding a cool enough Sprint rep to activate the phone.

heh. you really think its only 1% of ppl who want that phone for sprint? what do the other 99% of sprint ppl want for a phone? the weak upcoming sanyo mm7400 and 5600 that aren't even out yet and dont have what the v710 has? hm, i'm not being sarcastic i'm just saying and i realize its not an official stat just something you through out there but the only ppl who dont want it i can imagine are ppl who dont know about it and again what phone do they want then? maybe some good gsm phones but at least the 710 is feasible as its cdma.
regardless and just to prove i'm not such the v710 lover i will say that though its been fun playing around with it and hack especially getting web, ringers, wallpapers free and not paying 1 cent more then i have to evil Verizon. I want to admit that one of the main reasons for wanting the phone was for the full duplex speakerphone which has been disappointing.
Unless i need to read the manual or something I dont see any way to turn speakerphone on or off for that matter when you are in a call. you have to turn it on or off before you make a call and then our stuck in that mode for the entire call. the only way i've found to enable speakerphone is to hit the speakerbutton which brings up the voice commands and then you hit the right top button to turn speaker on then you have to hit cancel out of voice commands and then you can dial a call on speaker phone but like i said you can't turn it off mid call if somethign is private. its pretty bad and also not nearly as loud as speakerphone i was used to on motos for nextell.
Also since i know everyone here likes me bashing the v710 i want to say teh screen is disappointing as well. i know its lower res then the toshiba but i was still expecting more. It totally wastes the 2.2" that it matches the toshiba by not using all of the screen for instance on the main screen there is bar at top and bottom which can't be gotten rid of. I love how on the toshiba you can set no guidance to have jus the bare min of icons and time date small at bottom keeping 99 % of screen clear to view wallpaper which looks super nice as most know with a downsized digi pic.
So the speakerphone and screen of the 710 is let down. This just brings me high hopes for the 5600 speakerphone which i've read is supposed to be full dup and the screen is 2.2" 240x320 qvga like the tosh right? might be good after all even though earlier in this same post i said its wasn't worht waiting for or whatever but i guess thats just because it doesn't have bt and transflash like the 710 the only thigns worth it on it. again the screen and speakerphone are somewhat of let down.

Yea, because you obvoiusly(sp) dont deal with Sprint customers on a daily basis like I do, so I stand by that number. The actual number doesnt mean as much as the idea behind it, that the number of customers who 'demand' a phone like that is a very insignificant number, and i find it laughable that you can say an upcoming phone which may or may not even be out is 'weak'.
This forum represents such a small number/customer base for Sprint who actually use their phones to 100% of their capabilities...do you know how many customers I see daily who have camera phones and dont even shoot 1 picture, or speakerphones which never were used.

I actually like my bluetooth phone, but I'm not a normal user. I use the wireless headset and I sync my outlook to it so I don't have to use my palm pilot anymore.
the average person who buys a bluetooth phone could possibly not even know what bluetooth does. I told a very savvy person (maybe not tech savvy but on top of things) yesterday, when she saw my phone, that it had bluetooth. She looked at me like I had 2 heads.
ao anyone saying that 99% of Sprint users crave <insert super-techie phone here>, I say they're talking out of their exhaust pipe.

My best friend has the V710, and it is a nice phone. However, it is a little on the large side, and the camera is terrible compared to my Sanyo 8200. The pictures are blurry and dark (none of the light settings are worth squat) and you practically need a tripod for an arm to take a decent picture. The mp3 capabilities are nice, though.

Recently a sprint store rep told me that Sprint is getting a "next gen" Motorola phone in Jan. I'm assuming it will be sprints version of the 710 or something even better. either way its good news.
i just hope its true adn the rep didnt' just mix it up with some other phone or something. I haven't heard anything about this anywhere else so it doesnt look good but we can hope
