Well It's exclusive to providers who support cdma2000 technology. Sprint's the only provider I know of who does. :D
ev-do technology, looks like a vzw phone, although the model number implies its for sprint, hmm...

Just a quick note, any Samsung phone that you see with SPH before the model # is a Sprint PCS handset.

I thought Sprint was skipping EV-DO in favor of going straight to EV-DV.

Isn't this the phone that was released a while back that is only for use in south korea? This is pretty old new if I'm not mistaken and I think it was discussed that this phone will not be coming to the US. It does look awsome though. I enjoyed watching the 7 minute movie of the guy playing with the phone when this topic was discussed earlies lol.

That phone is Java based, and it's CDMA 1900MHz, so it's for a North American Java based provider

According to Phonescoop the Samsung SGH-P735 / SGH-P730 is the T-Mobile Phone here (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=526)
and The Samsung SCH-A770 is The Verizon Version of it at here (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=537)
so that would have to make the SPH-V4400 the Sprint Version.
The main difference that I can tell is that the T-mobile and Verizon are only one Megapixel with the camera on the back, and the Sprint is two Megapixel with the camera on the side.

sprint probably wouldnt accept the esn when you tried to activate it.With all the talented techies out there is there no hack to get around such a thing? This is just BS that the consumer cannot use a phone of his/her choosing, it's a scam by the carriers.

No, its a failsafe when customers call and ask for help with a phone that no one has ever heard of...its not a scam by the carriers...why dont you just goto a GSM carrier and enjoy using any phone you want?
Also, whats all good in having a nice expensive voice phone? You wont be able to pull the data off the phone, unless there is a cable and software. Your web wont work, SMS probably wont either

Your web wont work, SMS probably wont eitherIf it weren't a scam the carriers would let you use other phones, but they would not give any product support, use at your own risk, just like cable boxes and home phones. If I use a phone no one ever heard of and have problems whose problem is that? Mine If you go an install a turbo setup on your car do you ask your dealer to support it?
It is a scam, ok not a scam, a expertly conceived process plannned by statisticians, product management, legal, etc. etc. departments to maximize revenue above all else. That's how business is done, if you work with people who plan this type of thing like I do then you would understand the whole economics of it but let's not waste time with that, it is not something we can do anything about for the most part.
Back to the phone. Pull what data off the phone? Web? I don't surf the web with my phone, SMS I don't waste time messaging. I don't know about you but I don't know many people that waste time texting when they can just talk personally with the other person. The SPH-V4400 comes with all the stuff you need to interface with your PC (Windows) I believe there is a cradle as well. I want it for the memory card slot, to play mp3's, record spontaneous video, download compressed video and play it later, photos, TV, show pictures on my TV, etc. etc. etc. oh yeah and I can make a phone call if needed. That sort of thing, that's why I would want it. Do you know anything about the phone or it's counterparts?
EhBrah

Oh yeah and I like Sprint that's why I stay with them and don't have plans to switch, I'll just use whatever phone I have to. I've had Cingular (Pacific Bell before), Cellular One, GTE, AT&T, Verizon (pretty good). Of them all Sprint has been the most trouble free and has given me the best overall coverage for where I go. That's why I won't switch.

seeing as tmobile and verizon have one close to this coming out in the near future, hopefully sprint will get its variant of the phone as well. i think that this phone would be a good addition to the new multimedia lineup.

...just because it has a card slot does NOT mean it can play mp3's, play TV shows or anything of the sort...gotta have a media player to do that...Hello? it comes with all those above mentioned features standard. You are right, because a phone comes with a card slot doesn't mean it does the things I mentioned BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SPH-V4400 which does those things.
No you don't need a media player to do that, oh wait you yes you do, you are so right! And this one happens to take video, digital pictures and it even has a built in phone too!

It looks like it's sister version, the Samsung SCH-A770 will be going to Verizon...

The Samsugn SPH-V4400 is going to be released on Anycall's network very soon...
There have been rumors circulating that Samsung is going to release a 2mp phone for Sprint, so could a sister version of this phone make it over, with it's 2mp CCD camera in tact...? Lets hope so...

SPH prefix does typically imply sprint. and it does not say its ev-do, it says cdma2000. and i really dont think sprint will skip ev-do.
