Hey all,
I have the chance to upgrade my Samsung a620 to a new Sanyo 8200. Now, I will like a phone, regardless of brand, if it's a nice phone. I love the a620. I like it because of the external display, the color screen, and the overall quality of the phone.
I think I will like the upgrade because, the sanyo is a little more sleek, quite a bit lighter, it has a speakerphone, higher resolution screen, and a lot more. Also, it won't be riddles with bugs as the a620 is/was I have been playing with the phone in the store, and I like the interface...
I really don't see any downside of upgrading to this phone (granted i get one without any terminal problems). What do you guys think?
Also, does the external display on the phone light up at the touch of the button. One more thing, in the FAQ, it shows the pixels size of the 8200 to be LARGER than the pixel size of the a620 -- this must strictly be talking about resolution, right? -- because the screen on the a620 is actually bigger....is this correct? It just seems weird, that if size is concerned, the numbers for the a620 should be bigger...
...and please, don't respond negatively simply because you hate one brand or the other no matter what - ;)
Thanks,
Matt
8200 seems like a nice phone. However, if you really liked your A620 except for what you mentioned, you may want to consider the A680. Its smaller than the A620 and doesn't have any of the 'bugs' you mentioned. Only thing it doesn't have in comparison to the 8200 is RL and speakerphone. If you really want the RL and Speakerphone than obviously, go with the 8200. If those dont matter to you, seriously consider the A680.

me personally, I HATE sanyo interfaces. And I'd say that A620 is a sleeker looking than Sanyo. As far as bugs, yea, Samsung bugs are annoying...

The samsung has a nicer interface and better earpice. The sanyo has better reception, less dropped calls (usually :)), and a speakerphone.

The 620 has a better display than the 8200 IMO

Not a lot of difference between the two phones. You would only be gaining Ready Link, Speakerphone, and Slightly better pictures. In my opinion, you should save your money for a better phone in a couple of months.

MattThe A620 offers:

*Much better voice dialing
*Better earpeice
*Better User Interface
*Better status LED (much bigger)
*Easier camera control
*Exterior is more refined
The 8200 offers:
*Half-duplex speaker phone (don't plan on carring out long conversations on this thing)...
*Ready link
*SMS-MO
*Worse user interface (barbaric)
*Worse earpeice
*Smaller display (inside and out)
*Much smaller status LED
*Slightly better reception

I played around with the 8200 when I visited the store for my last PRL update. Stayed with my a620 for the reasons Enmulout laid out. No interest in RL, and while SMS would be nice I'd miss the advantages he described more than SMS, which I've come to not miss at all actually. And I've had no reception problems with the a620.

I upgraded from my a620 and got my 8200 on the end of June. I miss my voive dialing from my a620, that was great. The earpiece on my a620 is lots better than my 8200.... My speaker is blown on my 8200...Vision is faster on the 8200 vs the a620. I probably could go on, but this could turn into a long post... Unless you want a speakerphone and rl, the 680 maybe the way to go..... I am ready for a mm phone and patiently waiting 4 the new lineup.
