Hi guys, I'm new here and I've been reading up on everything I could find for the 5300 and the 8200, but I figured I would ask and see what you all think.

My 5300 had been acting buggy since basically the 2nd week of ownership, at which time I took it back and they said everything was fine. However, after a few months, and especially the crap the phone was giving me during this week, I took it back again today and they tested it and they confirmed my phone was defective. They told me the best phone they could offer me was the Sanyo 8200.

In your opinions, was this a fair trade? I have insurance on phone our 5300's, and yet we didn't have to pay for the new phone. Also, I asked the guy if he could order me a red phone, and he told me Sprint doesn't ship out the red ones any more.

Oh, and one last question - we just started our 2 year contract in November with the first number portability wave and now ready link is available. Is it possible to tack on the RL? Our plan is over 100$ a month, so it should be free, just a matter of that service getting switched on. But is it possible?

Thanks

Yes it was more than a fair trade.

But to answer your other question, yes you can add on ReadyLink, just give them a call and have them add to your account.

Ok cool, I'm relieved. I don't know a whole lot about how Sprint operates - we're basically newbies when it comes to Sprint, and everything I read on the 8200 seemed nice. I love my 5300, and my concern was that the replacement wouldn't be as nice. Glad to see that you guys think the 8200 is a great phone :)

A good upgrade. Better Camera, Ready Link. Yes You Can Add Ready Link But I Don't Think It's Free Anymore On 100 And Up Plans.

Camera is the same, but the refresh rate on the screen, is so much nicer.

That was a great trade... Now If I get them to take my 5500, and give me a 5600....

If you have an old 2000 minute+ account that used to include free RL on the main line, but did not use an RL enabled phone at the time the account was opened, it cannot be added back on...Sorry

About the phones...The 5300 had a larger screen, and a better camera

5300 had a 2.1" display, a very large display...The 8200's is only a little bit bigger than the A680's

The 8200's screen is 132x176, but it is physically smaller

Does it really matter?

Apparently I was misunderstood.

The camera on the 8200 is better. Not the screen being bigger. Although with the craparific screen on the 5300, you may never have guessed.

The 8200 has more features than the 5300 so yes it is more than fair. You're getting a RL compatible phone with Speaker that you didn't have with the 5300 so enjoy and have fun!

yeah, you're right abou the resolution...It's 132x160 on the 8200, 132x176 on 2500/5500...

I have to disagree and say the 5300's screen was larger, AND better looking than the 8200's....Maybe it's just because of the great UI Sanyo placed in the phone (which they should have carrier into recent times), but I thought it was a beautiful screen
