Wow.. That's pretty smooth. I like! But probably not enough to either pay the ridiculous amount of money that it probably cost, or screw up my phone doing it myself!
At any rate, that's awesome.. Dare I ask - how did you do it?

A bunch of folks have had him do this and he is really fast and really good. Its worth the price you pay. If our financial situation didn't just nosedive today for the worse Id be all over it.

Have the price for white light emmiting diodes dropped yet. Last time I checked, they were >$1 each.
The reason that I wouldn't do that is that after I trade in my broken v0101 and get a new v0102, want to see if there are anymore issues with the phone before I void my warranty.

i found some nice pics and instructions for replacing LEDs on the scp-5300 (http://www.cellphonehacks.com/viewtopic.php?t=5064&highlight=leds) and so i think i'll give this a shot myself when i replace my current phone. seems straightforward if you've had some experience soldering, and i don't think i would have to worry about making any "fatal" mistakes.

phone cracked open.
I'm not sure I would want to "crack" open my phone. I'll leave it to the experianced professionals. Hope you have the equipment replacement plan :)

Experience soldering things and experience soldering LEDS onto pcbs in really tight spaces is a lot different than you think. Be careful or get a professional :)

yea,
sharkdamark and eatm0nster are correct. These LEDs are freakin' SMALL!!! I'd say 1mm x 2mm at most. Just make sure you know what you're doin'. $60 is a small price to pay compared to having to buy a new phone :( So yea, if you're still gonna do it, good luck!!! Lemme know if you need any help.

How many LEDs are in there? what does it look like if you use more then one color? can you do this with the VM4050?
I still say you are all INSANE to pay $60 just for different color LED's...and I mean that in the niecest possible way. Dave

Believe me, there is no hiway robbery here! Yi does a great job and I had him do my 5300 for me about 5 months ago. He does a great job, you'd never know he was in your phone except for the different color keys and $60 also includes the priority overnight shipping back to you! So he is only making about $45 for doing it. Small price to pay since I know Michelle probably pays 2x that for a nice pair of shoes w/o even thinking about it. Right Michelle?
Besides, if you want it done, you'll pay! If you don't, then you wont! Right!
Go Yi! If you want your phone to stand out in the crowd, then do something like this and people will notice. Many did w/ my 5300, and when I sold it, I got back my $60 extra with selling the phone.
Thanks again Yi! Keep up the great work and maybe in the future I may have you change the LED's in my 7300. Just gotta have a little extra cash laying around to do it!

Now if you are offering to provide the same service for people for less $ perhapse you will be able to convince his customers to use you in the future. Though you might have a hard time as everyone who I have seen mention his service has loved it.
But, if you are just crapping on the mans business then I think you should cease. He can charge absolutely any price he wants, if enough people will pay it to keep him going then guess what? Thats the price the market will bear.

Hey whatev. If people are going to pay it im not going to say anything. I just think everyone is getting robbed by such a high price that's all. If having diff. LEDs in your phone for nearly half the price of the phone is that important to you then go ahead, He prolly does a great job. But in my opinion I know I could do it for a lot cheaper. Maybe not with the cool overnight shipping but you know people look for alternatives that dont feel like paying 60 bucks because you want to ship it overnight. Personally I'd choose 35 over 60 cause I'm in no rush to get it back, but some people may want that. So it's their choice. What I don't understand is why everyone is gettin hot at me because of a little competition? Whatta you plan on "buyin me out" :joy: I say you all just settle the hell down cause no ones crapping on anything.

actually the blue plastic is not painted...its dyed plastic. Meaning you can pine sol it all you want its not gonna come off. I'd recommend just light sanding and primer. Then paint it whatever color you want. By the way I'll be selling this vm4500 within the next week or two. If anyone is interested, just pm me.

thanks for the tip. too bad your a little too late for the pine sol. haha thats alright i just let it sit for 6 hours and it didn't seem to take off anything. but thats alright. any reason as to why you would lightly sand before priming it? i was just gonna primer it then paint but if u think i should sand then ill do that too
