Just got an e-mail from Mot saying that the V-710 is now available. What ???? is this true? Is this phone going to be available for sprint? I mean 1.2 megapixels in a phone wow!!!! We need this for sprint.

If you look at the specs, it shows the phone has Brew which should mean that Verizon is getting it. I decided to double check phone scoop and they show it is for Verizon.

Freakin Sprint, even Verizon has a nice bluetooth phone now and we are stuck with the T608 that Sprint does not even support.

Add the 300-500kbps network coming this year and Sprint better do something.

Ive been following up on hofo and it looks like this phone is comming to verizon on the 21st of this month. Verizon might however limit the bluetooth capabilities to compatibility with a headset only. If thats the case, ill stick with sprint. If not, im gonna have to say bye bye sprint for a little while. This phone is everything I ever wanted in a phone. Add readylink and vision, and ide take out a loan to finance and stick with sprint :p

Keep in mind folks, Moto's flagship GSM phone, the V600, was delayed over 6 months from original launch date. I wouldn't be surprised if this one took even longer.

That phone is amazing. When is sprint going to get on the ball? That audiovox coming out looks like crap.

Verizon is finally getting a decent phone (v710). Right now, they've got a decent network but ****ty phones. This changes that -- assuming the v710 performs as good as it reads on paper.

When are we Sprint users going to get a supported phone with Bluetooth so we can use the built-in Handsfree support that BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, and Honda are now offering on new models? It sucks when you can't use a feature on your own car. Sprint won't be competitive if its customers can't use products like this (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pc1_1_1&zone=pc&lm=pc1&prid=1475). This is must have.

MAYBE Mid-Summer.. is what my sources say.

So what is the final word? Anyone talk to a Sprint rep? We NEED this phone!

Is there any cost estimate yet on how much this baby is going to run? And what's this talk about Verizon limitting the bluetooth... if that's the case then screw it, but if not then I think I'll be switching over to Verizon too, at least until Sprint comes up with a decent bluetooth phone.

Latest word is the release date could be anywhere from the end of this month to the end of next month. However, looks like VZW is struggling with the same decisions SPCS made with regards to bluetooth. Porting to Verizon is looking more and more like a viable option provided they don't cripple the phone.

EDIT: Speculation is the phone will run around $250 with 2 year contract. I highly doubt it is coming to Sprint. The Nokia 6255 is more likely.

I'm thinking the same thing. As long as Verizon doesn't cripple the 710 I'm going to switch service. Thank god for number mobility.

How can you guys switch so easily? Aren't you in contract?

I wish Verizon was offered in my area..

Guys, Not sure if this information is 100% correct, but my site (www.bornmobile.com) was offered a review unit of the V710. They told us mid-summer, not saying thats concrete, but we have decent contacts.

I don't know about Motorola phones. I recently tried a v400 on Cingular (basically same as the v600 except for no Bluetooth) and was disappointed with it. The earpice volume was way too low, the screen washed out in the sun, the menu structure was awkward, and the speakerphone was useless. You couldn't even engage the speakerphone until AFTER the call was answered and the softmenus were updated (which seemed like forever). My 8200 lets me start or answer the call on speakerphone, which is much nicer, and closing the flip on an active call switches automatically to speakerphone. And I so wanted to like that phone...

Could you elaborate?

Could you elaborate?Crippling the functionality of BT 1.1 specifications including DUN and OBEX.

You never responded to my inquiry in another thread regarding statements of yours pertaining to the release of the v710 with Sprint. Do you have information on this or were you just speculating? You seemed awful sure of your statement. Can you elaborate?

I just tried this and it hung up the call. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on in order for this to work?

DaMan,

I have it from CTIA that Sprint is looking at it, but I don't know if/when they will offer it. Sorry about my optimism.

Oh well. I'm not about to torment myself with another T608 type fiasco so if it comes to Sprint then great. If not, I'll have to see the rate structure for Verizon once they roll out the next gen data service.

MOT is finally coming out with some serious model to compete with the rest.

I had a meeting with a supplier who used to work for MOT. He said MOT was unfairly squeezed out of Japanese market by the carriers there. When he was at the MOT, the Japanese carriers often came with change requests within the week of final release, making it impossible for MOT to response in time. The rest of the Japanese phone makers however were gaven the change request long before MOT did.

Now MOT has exactly zero percent market share in Japan. It is China who is embracing MOT with open arms.

You need to go into Settings->Others->Open/Close Flip->Close and change it to Mute. To talk, you will have to press the speaker key (top key on right side) to unmute the call. You can hang up the call by pressing the same key until the display changes to Sprint and the call timer.

This phone is not coming may 21..in fact verizon doesn't even have a set date for it, they have a tentative date for mid/late june and even that is unlikely. This is what our verizon rep told me.

You guys don't forget, with Verizon mobile web, it uses your minutes unlike Sprint and the rest of the carriers.

This was due to a lack of camera parts. This is unlikely on a MP phone as there are very few of them out or coming out in the imediate future. (compared to .3mp camera phones when the v600 was scheduled to come out)

well if you dont have money for a phone, then you aren't going to be getting teh v710 for Verizon if you switch to there because its still $249 even with 2yr contract with them.

I love this phone. So much better than my vm4500. But yes its expensive and its even more expensive when you get hit with the early termination fee from sprint but its worth it. (Sprint wouldn't let me cancel because I was moving out of their coverage area, oh well)

EDIT: (I do miss vision though...so sad) :(

i've heard that moving out of their coverage is a valid excuse to get out of etc.

anyway , you could always get a v710 and cheap verizon plan especially adding on someone elses for $20/mo like i did and keep sprint.

i might get the t608 or the new lg bt slider comign very soon so i can use my bt headsets and then when the 5600 coes ou sprint will be back in the competition. Also there might be a new Moto for sprint in jan.

right now there is nothing to compete with the 710 on sprint but come dec./jan they might be bakc on top.

LTD?

i wouldn't get the LG 325 even though its BT it doesnt have much else and it isn't a flip and it looks stupid. just not worth it overall and for coming 3 mo after the v710 it is a sad offering to compete against the superior 710, just a shame for sprint. nothing worse then coming 3 mo later with an phone that doesnt' stack up to its competing phone on the other carrier.

As far as the t608 though a good phone for its time back when sprint was the first to offer a phone with a certain feature etc. its no dated and doesnt' even have sms. so right now its a no go for sprint and bt. with nothing on the horizon either as the only promising phones for sprint the 5600 and the i550 also dont have bt.
