Call *2 again and keep calling until you get a rep who will agree to flag your account for a PRL update.

Just to make sure, you realize that the latest is 10023, right?

yup, i have 1019 on both my phones. I spend 100+ a month and been a customer for over 5 years with them and you think they would help me out. I called 5 times, waiting on hold gets old!

Don't even bother calling *2. Send an email to customer service thru the Sprint website and ask them for it. Every single time I have asked eCare to flag my account they have done so.

Agreed. As much as possible anymore, I deal with ecare via email. They are quicker and more efficient. Last email request I sent I had a real response within 20 minutes.

scottycs

tried that too, with no luck. She said she did it, then she told me to call *2. I hate going to the store and waiting a hour for the update.

Do I need to ask for it to be upgraded or will it do it automatically like last time. I just get Claire when I call, no update. Thank You!

My PRL is 1020 while my coworkers have a PRL of 1023. The sprint rep told me PRL 1021 would give me better coverage. I have seem the same exact phones with a PRL of 1023. Maybe my phone was skipped? Last time I had to get a customer service agent to flag my account to get the newest PRL. Thank You

Dear xxxxxxxx

This is in response to your request to flag both the phones for you to
receive the Preferred Roaming List update.

Please understand that currently, you do not need a Preferred Roaming
List update on any of the phones on your account. Our system
automatically flags your account when you are required to receive a
Preferred Roaming List update.

Please keep on checking about this from time to time by contacting us by dialing 1-888-788-4727 from a landline phone or by dialing *2TALK from
your PCS Phone. Our specialists will be glad to assist you.

I appreciate your understanding in this regard.

All I ever say is that I "want my account flagged for a PRL update" and eCare has done it every time.

I just called *2 they flagged my account, called *2 again , went through upgrade, rebooted the phone now PRL 10023. Altogether took about two minutes.

I emailed them back, hopefully this will work.

tried *2 one last time, no luck.

It's been said a million tmes, but if Sprint would just implement a system like Verizon uses, where all you have to do is dial *228, option 1 to get a new PRL, things would be much easier.

Just tried it, for the hell of it on my 8200. My phone displays "Searching... Activation" while it connects. Of course, I get the "Feature Code is Not Active" message, but I wonder why that code is handled differently in the 8200.

Maybe something on your account or local network is preventing it? (Yes, it does happen sometimes).

One phone is an 8100, so they can do the PRL OTA, what is the other?

DF@Work

Certain accounts are not allowed to have PIRL via OTA. (USAA comes to mind), so that is a possibility. Or check the contacts section of this forum and call Tech support directly see if they can flag it.

I was running version 10017 and decided to ask for an upgrade. The first rep I talked to gave me a hard time, said I didn't need it, and said I would have to go to a store. I said thank you and tried again. The second rep flagged my account without question, I called *2 immediately after I hung up, and the upgrade went through.

I was sure to thank the rep who helped me and told her that I appreciated it because of the experience I've had with another rep. I always do this because I want the good reps to know that their help is truely valued, especially since many of the reps give innacurate information or are completely unhelpful. I would suggest others do this as well, or even go to the step of notifing managers of reps who are well informed and helpful.

Sorry, stupid ? but what does PRL mean and why have it updated? Does it fix issues?

I have had it done in the past with no problem. I might just drop the phone at the store for a update.

I have consistenly gotten flak from the CS Reps about doing this as well. I have 2 lines and every time a new PRL comes out I have to make multiple calls because the reps insists I have the latest PRL. Instead of just saying "sure, no problem", they fight with you about it.

I've done it for me and my buddy. No problems. You just deal with idiots, that's all.

PRL updates are usually not very critical and not as important as some make them out to be. Even the older versions as far back as 10015 should still provide off network roaming in just about every market. In some cases the older PRL's will actually have better roaming coverage (depending on the market). The newer PRL's do make digital roaming preferred over analog in some markets.

Pretty sure something like this is in the works...will definately simply things for the customer and for Sprint.

We must have the opposite problem...I've noticed that my account has been flagged for a PRL update 2 or 3 times so far, even though I already had the 10023 version. (I was the first person on the forum to announce the update) It doesn't do any harm, it just gets annoying having to wait for something you already have.

I never had any problem with PRL upgrades. It's about 10 minutes of phone crap. To restate the obvious, you need to be on the Sprint Network and you must have more than 2 antenna bars during the whole download or the update will be discarded and you'll need to call again.

mindfrost82

If you call *2, say "prl update" and it will transfer you to a "technical representative", have them flag your account, then call *2 back and say "prl update" again and it should update it.

Speaking of PRL's I wonder when 10024 will be released? Someone posted a while ago that it was in testing mode and would soon be released.
