It is of all times for people to wear jewelry. Earrings, make-up and more recently tattoos and piercings are accepted forms of body cosmetics. Surprisingly, no jewelry is available for the organ that is most important in social interactions, the eye.

man...what people will do to stand out. what's wrong with just having a personality? :)

i'm glad i'm old enough to have surpassed the age i might have gone tat/pierce crazy when it started getting so popular in the - oh, when was it, the mid 1990's?

i don't like anything pierced on the head except ears, and maybe tongue (sure it looks good on you, Amber). other places can have additional benefits, of course!

My wife read that earlier and it got her curiousity up. Me, no way! She's got 6 tats and 3 piercings. But I don't think She'd spend that kind of money on one.

There's a thread in the watercooler called tats. In there manti and I think someone else posted links to some tats. You might get some ideas from there. I know SL4 has a friend that does tats also.

Just as you think it is the dumbest, you know there is someone out there that thinks it's the coolest.

I myself find it pointless and creepy.

Getting my tongue pierced was one quick poke. With a tattoo they poke you over and over and over and over...
OOH, I'm getting chills just thinking about it!

Seriously, is nothing like a shot. It lasts longer but it never actually sticks through your skin. A few beers and its nothing, trust me. Its a tickle. Get something that you'll like in the long run and you'll be glad you did it...

edit - im kinda drink so take this with a grain of salt :bang:

People have told me this before. Even if I could get the nerve to do it, however, I just can't think of anything that I would want to be permanently drawn on my body. I can't stick with a man for more than a month, so what makes me think I can like a picture for that long? ;)

the way i see it is to get something you whole heartedly believe in. the tat i showed on my back in an earlier post translates into 'Jesus Christ is my Lord' and the one on my calf i had a dream about. i asked the tattoo artist if they had ever seen a picture like that and she opened a book and showed me the exact same cross(!!) its called a cross fitchy: its a cross that comes to a point at the bottom (like a sword) and it resembles your strength in faith.

man screw that. I have my nipples, eyebrow, tongue, and ears pierced but that's as far as I go. Nobody is implanting somthing in my eye. The only way someone is going near my eye with a sharp object is if I were getting lasik surgery done.

Took me 6 years to decide on my tattoo. I was in the place for 2.5 hrs and its only 4" wide. I'll take a pic one day.

I've also had three piercings. I did my brow first and got hooked. Then everyone had their brow done (and mine kept opening up because of my hat) so I got my tongue pierced. It was still REALLY controversial when I did it and I loved it. Even when my tongue swelled up. Then EVERYONE had their tongue pierced, so I got my labret done. I hated it. It wasn't really straight and it was annoying most of the time, and hard to hide for work. My brow came out shortly after my tongue and my labret came out after. I had my brow done in the summer of 96. My tongue done in the fall of 97 and my labret done sometime in 98. I got my tattoo done sometime in 99 and then decided I was done with eveything. I'd love to have my tongue piercing back (i used to carry a 6g barbell), but it was murdering my gums.

I didn't take my labret out until around 01 and didn't finally give up on my tongue until about 02/03. I still have a tiny tiny hole, which I could probably work a 14/16g barbell through, but it'd have to be real short since it bothers my gums.

Call me stupid.....but what is a labret???
Its the area between your chin and your lip. Its typically centered above the chin and is a half-barbell with a flat-end on the inside of the piercing.

Here are some photos: http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/05-lips/lab001.html

Its the most painful piercing I've done. The fact that you're going through one type of skin through the other makes it hurt more. The swelling was unbearable and I almost gave up on it. Since I had my tongue done previously, I stuck with it until it healed. I like it and it was fun, but it got irritating after a while and too difficult to hide for a professional job.

I have a tattoo...it is a tribal band anklet...got it on my brithday and wanted to go out after wards....well my foot was so swollen I could get my heels on ...so I ended up partying at home...later the guy who did designed my original tat added an ankh to it about 2 years later.....

Went with my niece to get her tongue pierced and almost fainted...the guy said are you okay and my niece said fine, he said no your aunt she looks like she about to faint...lol

I have two ear peircings (left ear), but I dont have any anywhere else (looks bleh to me to have them on the eye/nose and ever since this guy at radioshack kept clicking when talking I totally hate tongue rings). Id love a tatoo but NY has some dumb law where people under 18 cant have them even with parental permission, but I guess thats ok cause id prolly end up with something stupid like most people anyways :D

I got two tats, I have the word FAITH on my right arm and my first tattoo is a cross on my chest. I'm sick, I wanna get some sort of branding. It's a little about attention but its more of a devotional thing and testing my pain limits. (dont preach to me please) I wanna do either a branding or carving, did a few carvings on my own but they didnt scar well. A guy I know has a big cross branded on both arms, he did it himself, theyre about 5 inches each.
