I have searched, and i've found some reviews from a while ago on headesets. But i'm wondering if anyone can update me on the best headsets.
I was using the Jabra Windup Earset, which actaully worked great. But unfortunately, i had it clipped to my belt, and at some point, it flew off, and now it's gone. Before i go and spend another $30, i wanted to see if anyone had better luck with anything else, or what you guys recommend.
Not looking for wireless...too expensive and bulky for my tastes right now.
Thanks.

I use a Jabra headset, not sure of the name of it, but it's shaped EXACTLY like their bluetooth headset (BT200), except this one is wired. It fits very comfortably behind my ear, and everyone I talk to when I use it says it is SUPER clear.
I got it at CompUSA yesteday and got lucky... it should have been $29.99, but some idiot stuck a $24.99 tag on it, so I saved 5 bucks...

I posted a thread similar to this one awhile ago. May want to search, but majority of the people here used the Jabra Earboom (I believe that's the name) I ordered 3 of them from eforecity at 1.99 each + shipping. I gave them all away though. Last night I ordered the earwave boom. That may be what kenjancef is talking about. It looks so comfortable. I hate headsets, but hopefully this will be a winner.

Are you able to answer calls with the EarWave Boom headset or, do you still need to use you phone?

Using the phone might come in handy. You'd look like a dork with just a headset attached to nothing.

Not sure how much they sell for on the site, but I bought mine off ebay from them. Sometimes you can get them for .99. Only thing is they don't come in any fancy packaging.

my local sprint store has a deal going now where if you buy one accessory you can get any other of equal or lesser value for 50% off. i just bought a case for my phone a few days ago so i think i am going to take in the reciept and see if i can get the earwave for $15. i was in a rush when i got the case and didn't notice if the sale was going on then.

That's the one I have, but it had no button. There IS one with a button, but it's only for Nokia phones. When I picked up that one, I saw the button one, and actually pulled it out of the box and plugged it into my 4050, and the button did not work, and there was no indication that the headset was plugged in at all (there is a small "headset" text that appears when it's plugged in).
Also... it fits the best out of any headset I have ever had, and I've gone through a TON of them...

the one at the sprint store had the button and seemed to be for universal 2.5mm jacks. i'll investigate this further on the jabra site. there are often man versions of each headset.

But I took it out of the packaging and plugged it into my phone right there... and it didn't work. The box says it's only for Nokia phones, but I tried it anyway. It is a universal 2.5mm, but it has a 3rd ring on the connector. Maybe the 4050 doesn't support the 3rd ring... I dunno...

yep. that third ring is just for certain nokias, though none of the nokias sprint carries. the nokias sprint carries have both a pop-port connector and a 2.5mm 2-ring jack. you must have gotten the headset at a store other than sprint. is that right? i was assuming that one of the models of the earwave must have a 2-ring jack with an on/off button that works with all the sprint phones that can utilize the turbo button. i am assuming this because the earwave i saw with the button was at a sprint store in sprint packaging. i was trying to check the jabra site but i am in training today and this machine i am using doesn't have adobe reader on it and i don't want to mess with it since it's not our office. i'll go by the sprint store today and look again. there is a possibility i am confusing an earwave i saw at best buy and the one i saw at the sprint store. maybe the one at the sprint store was the one you have. i can't remember now.
also, jabra makes both an earwave BOOM and an earwave BUD. the boom is the one in the pic i posted. the bud is the same but is shorter in length and the mic is actually on the wire. i don't think sprint sells the earbud in their stores.

I got mine at CompUSA. I'm just glad I could take it out of the box to see if it worked... I never knew that Sprint sold those. I would LOVE to get that Earwave with a button. I'll keep my eye out, but if you find it, please let me know where you found it.

the sprint store in both tyson's corner, va and annandale, va had the earwave with the button if i remember correctly. i assume a sprint store near you would have them in stock or will get them in stock soon. i've been seeing them for about two weeks now. unless i am mistaken, they all have the button. i'll possibly be going by the store tonight to get one if i can get the 50% off since i got a case less than a week ago. i'll double-check to see if they have the button. if not i won't be getting one. gotta be able to use voicedial without messing with the phone.

OKay gents....
I went to look around just now at lunch. The Jabra Earwave boom that was discussed earlier does not have a button ont the universal 2.5mm jack. So there is not connect/disconnect/call waiting button.
I went ahead and purchased another retractable (i like to store it neatly) earbud, and noticed something interesting. The model that is sold for nokia, has a button. The model that is sold for universal 2.5mm jacks does not. BUT, HERE'S THE CATCH. They sell one that they list as being for SAMSUNG phones, that still uses a universal 2.5mm jack. It has hte button built in. I thought it was strange, and i wonder if the earwave boom is the same thing. Maybe there's a Saumsung version, that will work for others (I have a 4500) that has the button on the boom.
That's my $0.02.

those with the button and 2.5mm 2-ring jack usually mention samsung and sony-ericcson on the package apparently because i guess at one point these manfacturers were in the minority that allowed use of a turbo button. this has of course changed and these do work with all the other sprint phones that are out now.

True, but what i can't figure out, is why then, don't they just make them all with the button..... Whay make three different models of the same headset, when you could just make two?
Either way, i'm glad i found the one i did. I love my retractable with my turbo button. Good thing i lost my old one. ;)

Well, I think there's two versions of the EarWave because, I got one for my VM4500 that has an on/off button on the boom. It was $30 at the Sprint store. It's very comfortable, sounds great and, the mic is better than any I've tried before.

Yeah, this must be that "elusive" third version. Any chance you still have packaging? I would check to see whether it lists it for Samsung phones.
The universal one i saw clearly did not have that button.
The Earbud i have has the same microphone, just not on the boom, and i agree, it is far and away the best of the one's i've used, but you never know, there's plenty of one's that i haven't used.

Actually, the package doesn't list any specific brand it just says "for use with most PCS Phones". The thing is, buying it in a Sprint store, it's Sprint packaging and Not Jabra so, that's probably why they don't list a specific mfg.

i emailed them asking the exact same thing. got no response. it doesn't make sense. because even if you have a phone that can't use the button, the headset will still work.
i think the sprint stores are the place to find the version mkoso has.

I agree, sprint stores are your best bet, probably. I will add this to the conversation.

don't know who else said it, but I love my headset. It's a sprint branded headset that has a turbo button and it's got a retractable cord with a button and a little box with a clip that can be clipped on a belt buckle or on the edge of a pocket.. The mic is built into the earphone and it works wonderful compared to the other crap I've tried. I've got a vm4050 and no issues with this ear piece :x i A+++++ RECOMMEND it ! ;x

they didn't have any more earwaves when i went in today (must have sold them all in a day or two) so i ended up getting the Plantronics MX103. It's awesome. I used to have the MX100 but returned it because at the time plantronics didn't make the universal 2.5mm jack version with a turbo button. they had one with a turbo button but it was for the nokia headsets that used the 2.5mm jack with the 3 rings. finally they came out with this one and it works great. anyone who has had one will tell you the audio quality is excellent. and it's hardly visible when it's on (except for the wire). the turbo button works by just touching it lightly - you don't have to hold it down for a few seconds (or more). not sure if this is phone-specific or headset specific. the button is built into the earpiece.
also, FYI - for you 4050 users, if you have the flip closed while you are talking to someone using the headset, you can control the earpiece volume with the side keys. shows a little volume meter graphic on the external screen.
anyway, the regular price for the MX103 is $25 but i got it for around $13 because i had purchased a leather case a few days ago and the sprint store let me take advantage of the "buy one accessory get another at 50% off" deal.
this is the MX103:

Coincidentally I went looking for a good hands free set for the last month. I've owned the Jabra Earbud for 2 years, tried the Plantronics M175, M110, Jabra Earwrap, and Plantronics MX103. Of all of them the Plantronics M175 and M110 sound the best. But that's when they're in the over the head configuration. This is all based on feedback from friends when I call them. The best test though is leaving a message on your voicemail. The M110 sounds a little tinny compared to my phone, but people get used to it. The MX103 makes you enunciate a little more. You can barely understand the caller. THe Earwrap, I can't hear out of very well. I wear glasses thus making it hard for it to hang on your ear comfortably. The Jabra Earbud makes me sound pretty bad. So there you have it. I'd like to hear what others have experienced. Oh and I tried the Body Glove Max. It was worse than the Jabra Earwrap. I'm going back to the M110 or M175 even though I'll look like a dork.

I have the earwave boom, and its complete utter junk
the first one worked good for a month, then everyone complained about background noise and general problems hearing me, call jabra and complain, they send me a new one, this one works for just over a week before the same problem....
talked to other people who i see with the same headset and the majority of them report the same problem (including getting warranty replacements as often as once a month)
it also doesn't work with the voice dialing in my 4920...
i had a jabra ear boom previously (with a button, for my old 4700) that the speaker broke on, tried it to see if the button and voice dial would work, worked just fine
jabra used to be a good company, but this thing is a garbage...tried a different jabra model (the earwrap, with 3 snap on color plates) at the sprint store and the voice dial worked fine, but no button...
any recommendations for a decent boom style headset with button?
