Hi Guys,
I have a Toshiba e800 PDA and a Sanyo 8100. For cables I have the future dial cable which has been working great to dialup my laptop, now I want to dial up on my PDA. The Toshiba has a sync port -> USB cable and so I plugged my 8100 into it. PPC pops up and says it sees a new USB device but it needs a driver.
Does anyone know of a PPC driver or has anyone even tried this?
Thanks

Hi, the pocket pc should already be setup to go.
Where did you get your cable. How much was it? I'm looking for one for the vga1000.
Read this:
Pocket PC
· Pocket PC's are equipped with a section under settings called "connections" where you simply type in your current Internet Service Providers (ISP) Name, User Name, Password and phone number. This is the same ISP information that you use for your other computers. Same account, nothing changes. When you tap on "connect", the Pocket PC dials your ISP though the cellular phone and connects you to your ISP and the internet. You do not require software drivers. Everything is built into the operating system. You get connected in less than 10 seconds.
· Once online you simply tap on Internet Explorer or AvantGo to browse the web. To send/receive email simply go to your Inbox and set up your email info. You will in all cases continue to use your current email address, user name and password. Nothing changes. No software is required other than what comes standard with your Pocket PC.
· The reason you don't need a modem is because your phone acts as a modem. Your phone is a digital device and so is your Pocket PC. You only require a modem when connecting to a landline with a computer because a landline is an analog signal and computers are digital. So a modem is used to convert the digital signal coming out of the computer to an analog signal that your normal landline requires.
· Because your phone is now digital, no conversion is necessary. Your Pocket PC easily communicates with any digital cellular phone that is "web enabled". Web enabled means it has the ability to transmit data as well as voice calls. Most cellular phones produced today are web enabled. However there are some that are not. Therefore it is important when purchasing a new phone to make sure it is a data capable, web enabled phone and a data cable is available for it.
· Some cellular carriers may charge a monthly fee to use your phone as a modem. It is very important to check with your cellular provider to make sure you have this feature enabled if it is required.
· There is no extra charge when using your cellular phone as a modem. You are only charged for the time you are online, just as you are when making a voice call.
It's all at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=56165&item=5712929407&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V
Please let me know how it goes!

Hey,
I'm using the FutureDial USB cable which you can get at RatShack for $25. Unfortunatly you do need drivers. The article you refered to simply said you do not need a modem because your phone is a modem. This is true, but just like every other modem you have to have a driver so the OS knows how to talk to it.

Note that the eBay listing may actually be correct for the kind of cable it is selling. If you look at its photo, the eBay listing is not selling a USB cable at all, but rather a converter cable that runs from a PocketPC's sync port to a cell phone's data port. The cable has a box in its middle which is apparently a kind of RS232->USB->RS232 converter. Thus, with this kind of cable, the PocketPC can treat the phone as a simple RS232-connected modem, and needs no extra driver.
Indeed, I almost wonder whether the eBay store that provided this listing is simply thesupplynet.com, which is exactly in the business of selling PocketPC-to-cellphone cables.

Drivers for that phone are not written for the PocketPC platform. The way to connect it is to purchase a cable from TheSupplynet that takes the serial output from the E800
(which is both USB and serial) and converts it to communicate directly to the USB Sanyo 8100 phone.

Unfortunately, Future Dial no longer makes the driver installer available on their site. However, I have it, and will email it to anyone who needs it. Just email me at dansouza01@hotmail.com
