So, I'm finding it harder and harder to use grokster every day. I think the record industry is finally getting its way.

The way the requests work is that you give me a song title or movie quote or whatever and I type it into GROKSTER. Of all the above posts since I left last weekend, the only ones I've found are Ludacris intro, Nirvana Lake of Fire, and saliva click click boom.

Everythin else I can't get to download on my computer. Therefore if you want me to create a ringer for you and I haven't found it yet, you'll have to give me an MP3 of it somehow and I'll make it into a ringer from there. Or, you can point me to where I can get it on the web.

Also, please be more specific on your requests. Request it as SONG TITLE, ARTIST ==> just as you would type it into a search. And the movie and tv show lines, I'm trying but those are the hardest.

American Life, Transformers, the Andain file, and some 3 stooges (Although I couldn't find the Answer the phone quote). Thanks for posting the Andain file, I think I might never have found it otherwise. Does anyone out there have a wav or mp3 of the Chappelle's Rick James skit? I want it as a ringer too but I can't find it.

If the request isn't up right away, don't fret, sometimes if something is "Remotely Queued" on grokster it will eventually download like a week later.

apawapa is one of the better sights on the wireless web. there might not thousands of ring tones like other sites but it does have exactly what you want because you can request the ring tones that you want. where else can you do that? some sites have it where you have to up load files from mp3's. if you don't have a home pc like myself this is very hard to do. thank you for a wonderful site. you made a great ludacris intro.

I have the Toshiba also and the only the logo at top seems to show up nad not the list of ringers.

I dont know for sure nor how or if we can fix this, but i' think this has to do with what i've read elsewhere that the toshiba has a smaller cache or browser memory so it can' tshow pages as big or something, even though it has more memory 4mb then most phones for storing stuff.

What i am doing for now, as thankfully the site is accesible from pc, is copy the link of the file you want and then send your phone an email using #@messaging.sprintpcs.com which will send you a text msg with the link that you go to and it will dl the file.

I'm trying again after clearing out my browser, but again i know the toshiba has a limit to size of the site or something though it might not be that because i can go to the non wap version of sprintusers.com so i dunno.

Again at least yours is accesible from pc and i explained in my last post how to send teh files to your phone from pc. otherwise i can give you a good wap site with ringers and images so you can see how they did it and it works on all phones. matter of fact he has a separate folder in images for ones sized for the Toshiba, they're bigger. 240x320 to be exact..

and not to make you feel bad but i've gone to every site on teh sprintusers wap site under download from teh phone and they all work fine and so does dling images ringers. along with another guys site that is wap only.
so i dont know if its the phone or your site. i know the phone has some browser memoery limitations but it doesn't look good for your site.

just so your clear what is and isnt' showing up, on requests and sublime for isntance, the banner saying that shows up at the top,just not teh list of ringers.

noobie question...I went to your site, saved off one of the .gcd files and then sent to my phone...I thought I might have an issue with the file type...and did.
What do I need to do once I have the .gcd file before I send it to the phone?
I also have purevoice......but still need a little advice on that too.

yeah so others confirm it, your site does not work with the Toshiba. I know a guy on some forums here who has a great wap site even with images sized for the toshiba. i pm'd him to contact you to help you with your site as his works perfectly on teh toshiba.

for starters you may want to have a titel for your site as nothing shows up on teh header at top of browser and therefore leaves a blank on teh phone too as far as history or saving it.

how did you send it? most file uploaders don't support a .qcp or .gcd. what you need to do if you can't dl from teh phone which no toshiba can do right now, is send a text msg to your phone with teh full link of the file and that allows you to dl it.

also , soho311 why don't you use tell us how you convert mp3 etc. into a .qcp compatible for phone then we you wont have to grokster or it or have us send you the mp3 for you to convert, we can just do it ourself.

IN the meantime i would like "Miss You" by Blink-182 so where can i send you teh mp3? i gues your email on teh site?

I used the Rumkin tool to send the .gcd file....the phone put it in my Others folder...but the phone obviously wont read it...just tried it for the sake of trying....

no you have to send the phone the whole link to the file, not just the file itself, so it can go to it and dl it , itself.

so your phone can't see the site from the phone either. see so its not just teh toshiba, soho doesn't have his site made correctly.

Well, for those of you who have the Toshiba, I've rewritten the code for apawapa in HTML instead of WML because there have been some problems reading the WML code correctly by those phones. Please let me know if it works now. This should also fix the A620 issues too. If not the only thing I can think of is that I'm going to have to make a text only site.

The page works now for the toshiba but you get the insufficient memory error and the words on the banners dont show. Luckily i remembered that requests is the bottom most one. I was able to navigate there and get the blink song thank you. I would like to request a seperate section for images sized to 240x320 for the toshiba. Also if anyone knows a work around for the toshiba or the exact memory limit for the browser so that wap site makers can adjust accordingly. Seems wierd that the toshiba has a low browser memory limit when it has one of the largest overall memory for ring tones images etc. 4mb to be exact

Regardless he fixed it now and it shows, you just get an inssufficient memory error, but what phone is the vi660?

Hey, sorry I've had a very busy week (and it's only tuesday) but I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about hte requests, but first I want to make the site more accessible to everyone and less disorganized. So bear with me and enjoy what's already there, and by friday we'll have some new ****. And Winger, I am actually planning on putting an entire section for that I'm gonna call Pro Ringers. I still like the lyrics, especailly when I can get a tease of my favorite song when my phone rings, but I agree that there are definitely situations where Big Pimpin is just not appropriate, yet. Eventually phones are going to ring in people's heads anyways and this will all become obsolete...

Enjoy APAWAPA, sorry about the slow turn-around for ringers lately. They will be done.

thats why you use the normal ring ringers that most phones come with besides the mozart ones. they have business like normal rings. thats why you have office mode on your phone you can set or vibrate for that matter so no ring. etc etc.

plus if that is all you want, why would you be on a thread which is all about requesting run original ringers that aren't out there, which brings me to the point that you shouldn't diss any one type of music if it is not y0our thing, i happen to like many diff types of music mostly all of them, and sometimes some of the hiphop ones are fun.

Plus soho's site doesn't have the same usual ringers everywhere else does and ppl having been requesting some more original stuff.

It was typo. Supposed to be fun original ring tones, not run. Point is though i guess you have the right to request what you want you should not be putting down other peoples requests and types of music. I understand your reason for requesting what you are just dont put down others especiallyyien the thread is more about the type others are requesting. Songs and voice rings that nowhere else has.

OMG You had Prince P. Control one of my favorote dance songs hee hee. I didn't realize it was going to be the words but it is too cool. I have to be careful with it though and only have it ring for my one friend who loves that song. I had no problems getting the ringer I saved it to my desktop and uploaded it from 3gupload then accessed it from my locker on my cell.

I have a nice loud Harley engine 1.75 second .midi that I uploaded via Rumkins. I am getting an attribute mismatch when I view/open the file/message. The file is 18k. If I chop the length anymore, it might be too short. Anyone know what I can do to get it to work correct?
Phone is a new Samsung VI660.

You know, I own a ceramic tile shop. I just opened it. And I had a total of about 4 customers a week for the first 2 months. Well, with all that time, I decided to start this site. Things are picking up, and I'm busy pretty much all day now, and that's why the site is not changing very much. For this I am sorry. But, I have made some changes just recently. For example, a lot of you could no longer see the ringers page because there were too many on there and it filled up your browser memory. Now I've split the ringers into pages of 20-25 ringer. It's a little bit more time consuming to get to your ringer, but at least now you can see them.

OK so as far as requests from now on... Keep them coming. I am going to keep making them, but now I'm not promising that they will be up within a day as they used to. I might have some time to work on them during the week, but I think now I'm going to have to do it on weekends. So please keep coming to the site. There will always be updates, just no telling how often. I have exhausted my ideas for the ringers on the site. So the requests are awesome because it gives me ringers to add when I get the chance. I will get to all of them though, at least the ones I can download. Also, downloading the song is the hardest part. If you e-mail me the .mp3 or whatever I can do it really quick and get it up on the site right away.

If any of you out there have been playing around with the software and want to create some ringers for me to put on my site, let me know. If you want to field some requests that would be great. I'll find a way to give you credit for the ringer on my website.

Regardless, I've been having lots of fun with this site and I want it to continue to grow and always be free so spread the word and enjoy.

I would very much appreciate a quality ringtone of "Barber's Adagio for Strings, OP 11", Boston Symphony Orchestra?

It was used extensively in the 1986 Oscar Award winning, Oliver Stone film, "Platoon". It was also used in several other movies & TV shows including the episode of the Simpson's where Marge was on steriods. Must be for the Samsung VI660.

I dont think there is any reason to close as Soho311 may come back and others might fulfil.

I will say that Shoho311 apawapa.com site is much better even at a halt then rubies site. so far all it has is crappy obscure requests.

"How do I create voice ringers from MP3 or WAV files?"

To do so, you need 4 programs:

* Winamp v 2.9, avaliable here: http://classic.winamp.com/

* Windows Sound Recorder : installed by default on all windows-based PCs. Located in the Start Menu->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment

* Qualcom's "PureVoice Converter for Windows" and "PureVoice Player and Recorder", avaliable to download from: http://www.cdmatech.com/solutions/p...ce_download.jsp

** The PureVoice Player/Recorder is optional. Install it only if you want to listen to the *.qcp files which are created when you do the conversion. **

Once you have all 3/4 programs installed on your computer, you are ready to create your ringer.

First you need to extract the PVConverter.zip file into a folder on your hard drive. A good location would be "C:\PVConverter\".

Now here is where you have to make sure you follow these directions perfectly. First take an MP3 or WAV file and open it in Winamp. Make sure not to hit play.

Go to the Winamp Options menu and change the output format to "Nullsoft DiskWriter". Then click on the configure button, and change the output directory to "C:\PVConverter\" or which every directory you used when you extracted the PVConverter.

Check the box which says "Convert to format" and click on the "..." button. From that list, select "PCM 8.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono" and press the OK button.

Now click on the play button and Winamp will create a WAV file for you. Make sure to listen to this file, as it will be then cropped and used to create the ringer. If you dont like how it sounds, try another file. Once you are satisfied with the WAV file, you can move to the next step with is cropping the file.

Run the Sound Recorder program and goto "File->Open" and point the program to the same directory where you installed the PVConverter and where the WAV was stored when it was created by Winamp.

Listen the file, and when you find a position you would like the ringer to start, press pause, and goto the Edit menu and select "Delete before current position". Then continue playing it till you find a postition you would like to stop on. Once you find it, click on "Edit->Delete after current position".

Now if you want to make the ringer louder, use the option to increase volume by 25%. This will make the final ringer louder.

Note: The files should be less then 30 seconds in length, because after that, the phone goes automatically into voicemail.

Make sure to save the file into the same directory as the PVConverter is installed, and to give it a name with no spaces. That was actually the hardest and most time-consuming part. Once you have created this small file, you are ready to convert it.

Goto the Windows Explorer and open up the folder where you saved the WAV file. This should be the same folder where the PVConverter is saved. Just drag the WAV file onto the "PVConv.exe" file, and it will automatically create the "*.qcp" file.

Example: I create a WAV file from Winamp called "TestingForDeval.wav". When I drag this file onto the icon for "PVConv.exe", it will create a "TestingForDeval.qcp" file. This file can be played using the optional player which can be downloaded from the site on the top.

Once this file is created, goto http://www.sprintusers.com/focus , enter your phone number and the path of the file, and you will have your new custom ringer sent right to your phone. Enjoy
