BTW: It takes about 45 seconds to make a ringtone...Minus downloading of original song of course, so total time is 2 minutes average...Be a sport and make some of your own ringtones people...It is very simple, and you get EXACTLY what you want.

I'm new to SprintUsers. Would like to upload my own song clips as ringtones and not quite sure where to start. I have MP3s cut down to about 25 seconds, which I think is about how long a phone rings.

Does a phone not accept an MP3? Does it need a QCP instead? Please advise what my next steps are.

Hey, me again. As I said last night, I was able to create and download custom ringers for my new Samsung A790. No prob. Now I'm trying same for my wife's Samsung A740 and everything I send it says the file is too big. All the m4a files are in the 150K range. Do you know the file size limit or what might be getting in my way? Appreciate your help.

Fair enough. But the "How to" post needs to be changed to reflect that. It clearly says that AAC ringers are used on Samsung MM700-A700 phones. My A790 took AAC but apparently the A740 takes QCP. Makes sense, but that's not what the "How to" post says.

The QCP process doesn't look much different than the AAC process. A little frustrating that I have to download a completely different set of apps, but no biggie. I'll take a crack at it and ping back if I have problems.

On to the next problem. I'm following the directions for creating QCP files. It all works as directed. However, the output from Windows Sound Recorder sounds like garbage. I experimented with various PCM formats and they all sounded bad. Is there another way to compress the WAV file without sacrificing quality?

QCP is gonna sound like crap compared to AAC no matter how you convert it. The best solution for best quality would be using AAC ringers a low sample and bit rate and converting it to mono to make the file as small as possible.

Don't amplify the volume by 25% I never do and mine sound pretty good, and are quite loud...Making it louder distorts it horribly :-/

Louie has a site with most of what he has created. And am in the process of putting together a mobile site with all the ringers i have and make. Including all of the ones from here...give me two days and it will be up. Also when i get home from this dinner i will make you that ring tone.

I've only had this phone (Samsung A740) for about a week and thinking it may be time for a call to return it and get something better. For the record, I love my A790. I wish I could say the same for the A740. It's a sexy little phone that my wife really likes except for the really pissy ringers.

Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

*snip*QCPs aren't meant for music. They were initially intended for voice, but then the ringtone craze set in. QCPs really aren't THAT bad. With the right adjustments, you can make some ringers that at least aren't unbearable. Then again, you have an A740, and from what I've tested with that phone, it doesn't handle QCPs very well.

Do that everytime :) I think it might have to do with the quality of the original song...That Suring USA didn't have any great bass or antyhign about it, so it osunded better.
