I have a fairly large WAV (4.7mb) that I want to make into a ringer. It's only 28 seconds, but when I stick it in the Quallcomm converter, it spits out a 0kb QCP file, that crashes my phone. I'm assuming that the converter can't handle a file this large or something. What can I do to make the ringer?

It was converting to wav, but it was doing something wierd to them so that Qualcoms thingy could convert them to QCP properly. Got a new Mp3-Wav converter, and it works like a charm!! too bad I used up 20 of my 100 free text messages trying to get them though...

ok, I had an old samsung a500 and it came with a ringer called "chicken" in the melodies section. Not to be confused with the pre-downloaded crazychicken, it was one of the greatest ringtones ever and really set my phone apart from the rest. If anyone could make/show me where to find, that would be appreciated.

I've been filling a few requests, but I have a request of my own.

It's a built-in SANYO ringer, and it isn't on their site. I've heard it on the 8100, but I'm not sure if it's on any other model. It's just one of the default ring choices, but it's most distinguished by the fact that it is played at the beginning of Usher's song, Confessions, when someone calls him "at the studio". I can't really tell if it's a MIDI, but if it is, that would be PERFECT. I wouldn't mind a clearly recorded QCP though, I guess.

Thanks for laying it out. I was able to make your ringtone, but I can't say the quality is great. The song has a lot of bass to it, so the ringer got distorted during conversion. I'm only using SoundRecorder for now so I can't knock out the bass. Only way I can knock out the bass is by lowering the overall volume, which leads to very silent ringing when I tested it on my 5500, which I noticed you use too. Anyway here it is. I'll be looking for a better program for conversion in the meantime. Enjoy.

I DID IT. I recreated a default SANYO ringer from scratch! Well not totally, I had .5 seconds of the ringer to work with, but with that one very small piece I was able to put it together to form the rest of it.

It's an old ringtone built in to the Sanyo 8100 (and maybe others, I don't know). It was more popular for it's appearance in Usher's song, "Confessions". I've wanted it for a while but got fed up searching with no results, so this is what I came up with. It's not perfect, but it's close enough for me.

Here is a clip ripped from the mp3 of its appearance in the song. I would have simply used this but the music cut in during the ring.
