Print Camera Phone Images in Stores

Sprint PCS camera phone users will soon be able to professionally print their pictures at retail stores. Fuji Photo Film USA's 'Get the Picture' Online service will soon be connected to Sprint's Picture Mail web site. All Picture Mail subscribers will have the ability to key-in their zip code and choose a retail location for printing. (Source: Wireless Week)

I will only like this if its free and the printouts have great quality. But if we have to pay the quality better be great and the rates very low, I mean very very low!

First, I doubt it would be free, and second, the prints would only be as good as the camera. Most of the camera phones really produce sub-par images for printing out and, no matter what the quality of the lab is, the images will still be iffy.

I imagine that this service won't be very popular until Sprint starts providing some better quality cameras in their handsets.

It's a cool sounding gimmick anyway. I'm sure it will get a lot of people to sign on and buy a pricey camera phone with the idea of getting high quality prints of their snaps. By the time they find out how bad the quality is it's a bit late to get out.

Certainly an interesting idea. I'm like everyone else though, my photos from my phone are worthy of deleting rather than printing. I have no interest in seeing them on anything larger than the phone screen. But then, I bought the phone because I needed a good phone, not to take professional quality pictures with.

I also get pretty good results printing pictures from my proper digicam at home on my cheapo HP printer, as long as I use good quality photo paper.

Like I say, interesting idea, but nothing I would use, even if it was free.
