having just re-joined SPCS after being with ATT for over 2 years, (got sick of ATT's dog and pony show about no service in service areas where i had service just yesterday. . .) i am back.
i left sprint due to poor customer service issues, and told them that when i signed up again. . .we'll see what happens lol
i got myself and my wife an A620.
WHAT I WANTED
clarity and reception were a real biggie for me,,,features were not
i drive for a living (big trucks, you know the ones some of you are afraid of?) hehe
so reception and ability to make a call and be understood clearly was the most important factor in my decision.
for coverage, it seemd like SPCS was the only chioce and based on a few personal recomendations from aquaintances, i went with the a620
OVERVIEW
more features than i really needed/expected on the phone, so i was concerned i was buying "too much phone" for my needs.
NOT SO!
The menus are easy to navigate, text is clear and bright on the main screen, and pretty good on the external LCD.
VOICE COMMAND
Voice command features are excellent, and easy to use. the name dial works well, and understands my voice 99% of the time.
had to "train" the number dial but only took about 5 minutes to do. the real neat thing about the voice command is weather you are using name dial or number dial, if its not sure about what you said, or there are two or more names that might match your request, it gives you voice options to choose the right one!
this for a professional driver such as myself is an AWSOME feature for safety concerns.
VISION
Vision services are not running on my phone at this time, but i did get them to push a service order through on it this morning, and should be running in 24-48 hours (i know, insert groan, chuckle, or rimshot here) my wifes is working however, and i will add more to the review about the vision when i get it working.
CAMERA
the camera on the A620 is , well its a phone camera. . . picture quality is fairly decent when viewed on the main screen, and for picture CID, its great. soon as vision is up on my phone, i'll post pic quality from uploads and sent photos.
getting the cam to work is very easy, and you should be taking pictures in about 3 minutes or less.
RINGERS
the audio quality of the installed ringers is VERY good, loud, and clear. one word of caution, do NOT place the phone to your ear untill the ringer has stopped, , , its LOUD as all heck and hurts ya ear! hehe
NUMBER MEMORY
with 300 entries. what more can i say. if you need more than that, carry a phone book! hehe
RECEPTION AND CALL CLARITY
i use my phone along the I-74,39,90/94 coridor between the twin cities of minnesota, and indianapolis indiana, and so far have only had one tiny 1/4 mile of road in west central wisconsin on I-94 where i could not get a signal. i have talked to other truck drivers about the service they get, and they are unable to recieve signal there for about 4 miles! i had the same signal problems when i was with ATT in this area. VAST IMPROVEMENT!
the clarity of voice over this phone is STAGGERING in comparison to any other phone i have ever used.
OVERVIEW
to put it all in one quick blurb, if you travel, or drive for a living, need weather reports, or other information on the WW, want clear vioce calls, good reception, and good safety while driving,,,this is the phone for you!
