Researchers at the University of Missouri-Rolla and Motorola's Advanced Technology Center are developing switches and fuel cells that improve mobile phone performance and reception quality, and extend the operating time for wireless devices. less static? Nearly all of cellular has gone the way of the square wave. Not too many people doing AMPS anymore.

Very interesting. The Department of Defense is always pushing technology to be better that what it currently is.
