Regarding the Sanyo 8100, I'm going to basically echo the statements of others: this phone is simply amazing.

I originally decided to dump my LG 5350 because I noticed that, while at home, my daughter got great reception on her Sanyo 4900 while I didn't. This irked me. After reading the posts here and other sites, I decided the 8100 had the best feature set for my needs.

So far the most dramatic improvement I've seen with this phone over all the others I've had (2 Samsungs and 1 LG over the last 4 years) is that the reception in my home is outstanding. I have experienced no dropped calls at all. I used to drop calls routinely. This is my number one reason for buying this phone and the number one reason why I love it so much.

The camera, while cute, is so so in terms of performance. I consider this a 'fluff' feature - useful sometimes, neat always, but not essential.

The voice quality is very good, but also very loud. I'd really love to see this phone be more adustable. At the lowest setting it is sometimes too loud.

The larger LCD (compared to my old LG phone) is welcome, as is the slightly faster browser - PCS Vision is almost useable now!

Two features that are lacking are speakerphone and a usable alarm clock. The later is inexcusable and the former is mystifying. Add those two features and this phone would just about be the perfect phone for me - for now at least.

I look forward to seeing reviews of the Trio 600 when it is released and compare it to this phone. True PDA functionality (and perhaps an MP3 player) would make my mobile the only device I would need or want to carry.

Meanwhile, I'm a fan of Sanyo phones and recommend them to anyone considering Sprint PCS.
