I have the CLEAR wimax only device. Yep, gets HOT. Not hot enough to burn, but definately warm. The CLEAR software shows 10 dots... And here in the ATL metro I get 8 out of 10 on average.

well I would report but I have not used my card yet, as it isn't compatible with my Mac even though the woman at the store sold it to me.

Not happy with sprint right now considering every single other card they have is compatible.

I'm running a frankenstein setup with my Sprint U300. I have it on a 3G plan with Sprint and a 4G/3G plan with Clear... don't ask me why, just works lol. Cheaper this way too.

But my unit gets hot as heck, especially when using a 4G connection. When in the city, I can pull down speeds up to 6 - 8 Mbps, when on the road headed back home the speeds tend to drop down to between 2.5 - 4 Mbps, and when I arrive at home it switches over to 3G because the signal for 4G drops out about half a mile from my home. Hopefully this will change as they expand coverage to cover more and more of Georgia.

It's a nasty process trying to get Clear to add a Sprint U300 MAC address to your service, and it took some trickery but in the end it worked. I'm glad it did work because I'm using Windows 7 and apparently Sprint doesn't have support for Windows 7 with the U300 built into the current Sprint CM 2.27 software. Clear's CM has support for it, but not Sprint. There is a custom version of the Clear CM on Sprint's Buzz About Wireless forum that was created by a Sprint Tech that will force Windows 7 to use the Clear drivers for the U300 and then it will connect to Sprint instead of Clear for service. It is a temporary fix that works quite well, but your device needs to already be activated before using it.

And also the U300 is not Mac compatible... there are talks that Sprint will release a U301 device soon that is both Windows 7 and Mac compatible and will work a lot better (or faster) than the current U300.

But there is also talk that the next revision of Sprint CM will get the U300 working properly with Windows 7, no word on the Mac support for U300 that I've heard.
