Hey guys, we're considering porting one of our Sprint lines over to AT&T but we'd have to give up the ridiculously cheap and now-discontinued Sprint SERO 500 plan (500 anytime minutes, 7PM nights, free mobile-to-mobile, unlimited SMS, unlimited 3.5G data) on the line in order to do that. I'm selling off the plan to soften the sting a little bit, but if nobody's interested in paying enough to soften the blow of a switch to AT&T we'll probably just keep right on using it.

The process of transferring liability from me to you is fairly simple, and this will be the third SERO-related one I've done now. You'll need a Sprint account already -- if you're a new customer you can just call up Sprint and tell them you want to setup an account without a plan or a phone because you're getting a transfer of liability from a friend. After your account is setup I need your first name, last name, Sprint account number, and contact phone number. I'll put the transfer request in on my end, Sprint will call you and have you pass a credit check, you'll need to have a Sprint phone in-hand that you can activate, and you'll be good to go.

Even though these SERO plans are discontinued for new customers, transferring an existing one is pretty trivial. When the contract runs out in 2010 you can either keep paying the plan month to month or you can sign a new contract at the same rate and get a new discounted Sprint phone.

The plan is already eligible for $75 off a new Sprint phone purchase, but you'll find much cheaper options here in SU's trading post. Unfortunately I don't have any Sprint phones to sell right now, but someone here should be able to hook you up with a great deal if you need something.

If you're looking for a good "high-end" phone to use with this plan, Sprint has some really awesome Windows Mobile choices. Check out the HTC Touch Pro or Touch Pro2, the HTC Touch Diamond, and the Palm Treo Pro. All are 3.5G data smartphones with Wi-Fi and can tether to a laptop without Sprint charging you via any of a number of software solutions (google WMWifiRouter, PdaNet, or USBmodem for more info). The Palm Pre, Samsung Instinct, HTC Hero and BlackBerrys aren't compatible with this plan as they all require special add-ons that aren't included with SERO. Anything else in Sprint's lineup or that they've ever sold is fair game. If you need help finding a Sprint phone that will work with this, I know their lineup inside and out and can help you along.

Over Sprint's "replacement SERO" plan, Sprint EPRP for $59.99, this plan will save you $720 + taxes per two years. It's easily the best deal in wireless, it's discontinued, and I'm probably a fool for walking away from it.

Thanks for looking!

FEEDBACK AND CONTACT
I've done $15,000+ in total transactions over at Something Awful's SA-Mart, I'm on eBay as teh_kalibar if you'd like to look me up, I've sold a few phones over in HoFo's B/S/T forum, and I've sold a couple phones here in SU's Trading Post too. I'm a good guy, and am not out to scam anyone!

You can contact me with any questions via e-mail at kalibargames+support (at) gmail.com or via AIM at the kbar.

Hey guys, we're considering porting one of our Sprint lines over to AT&T but we'd have to give up the ridiculously cheap and now-discontinued Sprint SERO 500 plan ...

You cannot do both port your number AND TOL the line of service. If you port your number, as soon as it transfers to the other carrier, Sprint will cancel that line of service. If you TOL the line, you can't port the number because you don't own it anymore.

Yeah, that's accurate. Sorry for the confusing wording, we've already got the number moved elsewhere -- the number on the line now will go to whoever buys the plan.

Bump -- I'll take $95 for this plan.

Would you take $50.00? I might have a coworker interested in it
