My experience so far.

Windows 64 Bit SP3, Mobile works, Wimax doesn't, I can never connect

Windows 7 64 Bit, can't get anything to work, always get a "troubleshooting" warning with the Beceem Communications Device wasn't working properly, enable/disable and it stops complaining but then I can't connect to mobile or wimax networks

Cheers,
Grant

Has anyone got the u300 working under windows 7 yet ? I could live with the 3g connection for a few weeks until sprint "figures the rest out", but having no connection with the u300 is killing me as I have to carry two drives around for my laptop, the Vista drive and a windows 7 drive :)

under the known issues for that card I saw last time that it is not compatible with Vista SP 2, it states that you have to removed the SP or choose another mobile broadband device. I dont know if that helps in your case but if anyone else has this issue this might explain it.

So far under vista with compatibility mode set to xp sp3 I can't get wi-max but I can get 3g.

With ANY compatibility mode in windows 7 I can't get any connections to work, shame as my sierra card worked great under windows 7 for 3g connections.

I have WiMax 64-bit drivers if your interested.

I run Windows 7 with the U300. I get no 3G at all on my Dell E6400 but get 3G on my Dell Inspiron 6400 with Vista 64-bit OS.

WiMax is whole different issue, I really don't think the card works properly in some Dell units.

I would love to have those drivers if you don't mind, that would be awesome.

I tried the 64bit drivers and unfortunately no luck, Sprint Smartview goes through this proccess

1) "Disabling mobile radio"
2) "Initializing WiMax Device"
3) "WiMax turning off radio"

then its given up. If I could get 3g working that would at least be something while they fix smart view for wimax.

The SmartView software was updated today and I've seen posts claiming it's working better in Vista a working in SP2 out of the box now. I don't have a U300 and WiMax in my area to test though on my Win 7 box.

Just out of curiosity, for anyone who has gotten WIMAX working via Smartview, what processor are you using (Intel or AMD)? Last I heard there was also a compatibility issue with Intel processors.

It works on Vista Business 32 bit
Version: 6.0.6000 Build 6000

Intel T7400 Processor

This is my old computer that I wiped clean reinstalling the OS so it doesn't look like I installed any service packs.

Smartview 2.27 was released yesterday

http://www.nextel.com/en/software_downloads/mobile_broadband/sprint_u300.shtml

It didn't help me, I actually now get bluescreen the 2nd time I run it, and it always disables the 3g and never connects or finds 4g service.

I returned my U300 and cradlepoint router today because of this ongoing compatibility issue, as I was still within my 30 day window. I am very disappointed about the experience, from the complete lack of knowledge about this issue in the main customer support channel, to the almost off-handed "Well, Windows 7 isn't out yet so we don't support it" comments by the technical escalation team, which only betrays their ignorance. (Note to Sprint: Windows 7 is out and available to business users, you know, the primary people who spend money on cards like this. Public general availability is 3 weeks away, which means your drivers should have been out months ago to test and make sure they work BEFORE this OS hits the public, not the day it ships.) Useless!

BTW, the Verizon wireless card I was hoping the u300 would replace still works like a champ, and had Windows 7 drivers available for it 6 months ago when I first installed the beta on my laptop. Sad Sprint, really sad.

One more thing, when I was voicing my woes in a sprint store yesterday, one of the repair techs told me that there have been lots of trouble with the u300, and that Sprint was actually about to release the u301 card which would replace it. Maybe that is why they don't have drivers yet, they have been too busy working on the next version.

You guys really should get a Novatel MiFi 2200 WiFi Personal Hotspot from either Sprint or Verizon. This little thing will solve all of your problems.

So by your thinking, they should go from a 4G system to a 3G system and some of the people here are in areas that don't even have 3G yet, but do have 4G. That makes lots of sense. The MiFi is great for what it is intended for, 3G areas. But it's speed isn't what 4G is supposed to be. 4G also has true unlimited data, the MiFi does not.

Exactly... the 4G has UNLIMITED data so to solve any 64bit issues you just need a cradlepoint... problem solved (except initial activation)....

Central Florida, so no 4g yet. I am not, however, getting expected 3g speeds out of my U300/CTR-350 combination. Activated fine with an XP box, but can't get to 1mbs on the download sitting right next to a tower or any place else.

I haven't gotten it going on my Wondows 7 - 64 bit, yet. even with the new SmartView. This is why the CTR-350, but it still has slower 3g download speeds through the CTR-350 than it does through the XP laptop for some reason.

that's the same as I'm running (MAPS) and haven't had any success with the new SmartView 2.27.0064.0. Not only that, but have to re-provision every time I try before I put it back on the CTR.
