Just signed up for 4G with Franklin U300. Card would not activate with both my laptops (Vista SP2) and Smartview 2.25. Finally activated with an old machine of mine that runs XP. Not very portable if it's only compatible with my desktop XP system. On the Vista laptops, still does not run even with Admin mode and XP compatibility mode.

2 hours of Advanced Tech help with sprint was no use. Called Franklin. They said it's a known issue and that SmartView version 2.27 will address this with Vista. Some work and some don't is all she could tell me when it comes to Vista.

So my question is if anyone with Vista SP2 having success. My wireless 4G/3G Cradlepoint MBR1000 gives me a 4G signal of 20%. This translate to download equal to 3G with my 597U but upload of only half the 3G speed. Taking my router to work where signal is much better is not an option either.

Appreciate any insight.

Yes... the driver issue with the U300 is a serious let down for this card and thankfully I was able to get it activated with my old Vista Business 32 bit laptop but I'm not real sure what service pack it has.... I'll find it and let you know. Releasing a high end card that will not work with a 64bit OS is pretty pathetic and it makes you wonder who is doing the testing on these things.

Although I really like my U300 with the cradlepoint (only way it'll work with Win7/64) I was expecting more download speed and more consistent 4g coverage. It sucks driving down the street in an area that has coverage, losing a 4g signal, connecting to 3g only to switch back to 4g 30seconds later and all the time it's switching back and forth you're without an internet connection.

This issue with SP2, from what I understand, is on all broadband and wimax devices, not just the u300. You can download the newest version of Smartview from sprint.com/downloads, and this SHOULD fix the problem....though I may be a liar :)

But hey, it's worth a shot.
