If you're still using an 800w, I can't imagine that any phone could be worse than that phone. I was not a believer that cell phone quality was all that different since these are commodity items these days and even cheap ones perform acceptably. Until I used the 800w piece of stuff.

Well the piece of plastic that comes with it is junk but i guess it will have to do as a temp till i can order a real one online.

The phone is great so far. One peeve I have with it is that if you set your phone to "Vibrate and ring" in the sounds and notifications setting; setting your phone to vibrate or silent through the shortcut side buttons, and then back to ring does not retain the "vibrate and ring" setting but rather just the ring setting.

So, "Vibrate and ring" > shortcut to vibrate > shortcut back to loud mode does not change back to "vibrate and ring" but rather "ring".

PS. I was in the house and heard the UPS guy drop the box on my doorstep, did not ring the doorbell or anything. I'm glad noone knew I was getting a Touch Pro 2. :)

Also, for all the personalized ringtones I have is there an easy way to transfer them to my phone. I do have all the ringtones on my computer so I assume I will be able to transfer those to my phone individually if I have too.

Thats a good point but htc has really nice headsets that come with there devices so i was expecting one ;) Im leaning towards the Hero, unless Sprint matches verizon's $199 if thats correct. I wouldnt pay $500 unless i new i was keeping it for two years but with the Phone boom, something new will come out in six to ten months.

What phone do you currently have? If you have a WM phone,you can install My Phone from Microsoft and it'll back up your contacts/text messages/files on their server, then install it on your new phone and resync it. Easiest way to my knowledge now. Or use pimbackup on both phones. Essentially the same as My Phone but as a program.

I just got my tp2 yesterday 5pm west coast time. Everything going well with phone and was very pleased. I did nothing to the phone yet no upgrades or apps installed yet. plugged it in to charge while I slept. I woke up to a black screen and will not turn on or recognize that its plugged in. I took batter out and replaced it and tried a soft reset and nothing. my tp2 is now in paperweight mode and I am very upset I am knowledgeable with these phones but am lost here any ideas?

actually the only thing I remember doing is changing the setting in the power options to no charge while phone is connected to a computer so I can test battery life fully while adding a couple mp3's that's it. I have the cord plugged into the wall tho still nothing. wondering if there is a glitch to were it thinks it is still connected to a PC even when its not.

yeah its the same except no light up htc logo. But I do have a tp1 and tried that charger and it lights up. even tried the tp1 charger with the usb exstention to the tp2. everything lights up at the charger but nothing on the phone when connected. I'm almost positive now that I got a lemon phone. Hope there not all gonna be this way.

No I don't have one of those. I think it seems like possibly something shorted out in the phone or something because even with the sync cable by itself there is no response on the phone or my pc.

Save PIM file to your memory card and transfer. That or use dashwire before you activate your new phone.

To all your touch pro 2 users out there, can you please test this to see if its an isolated problem or an issue with all Touch Pro 2 phones.

I want to change my phone to "Vibrate and Ring". I can do this through 2 ways.

1. Go to "Settings" tab then to "Sounds" then change "Ring Type" to "Vibrate and Ring".

OR

2. Go to "All Settings" then under "Personal" go to "Sounds and Notifications". Under the "Notifications" tab go to "Ring Type" and change to "Vibrate and ring"

Both settings apply successfully. BUT, when turning off the phone and turning it back on, the setting reverts back to "Ring". OR, when setting the phone to vibrate/silent and changing it back to loud mode, the phone reverts back to just "Ring".

I know it takes very little effort to change back to "Vibrate and Ring" but this is an issue where the setting should stick, especially when turning the phone off then back on.

I had the phone for 12 hours before it gave me problems and everything was still left stock, straight out of the box setting and all. Has anyone heard of this happening yet? double checked the charger also tried one for my tp1. tried soft reset, taking battery out, and hooking up cable straight to pc and got nothing no lights no sign of wanting to turn on.

3) The Q offers many functions, but none really perform well for me. Youtube is choppy, internet is slow, slingbox use is below average. Can you tell me what you like about your upgrade and what you miss about the Q?

1. Yes. The onscreen keyboard is actually pretty decent in a pinch, so you don't have to open the keyboard up. I use it when sending very short responses.
2. TP2 is a little heavy for the pocket, but when I'm lounging around home in my PJ's I carry it in the front pocket of those all the time without any problem.
3. I have no Q experience to share with you here. I can tell you that coming from my Treo 800w this device is heads above the Treo, in terms of battery life, screen quality, and overall speediness of device.

Hey Jack G... I currently have a Treo 800w right now and eligible for an upgrade. Was it an easy or tough transition for you? I've been using the 800w for the past 2 years almost plus I had a 700w for 2 years before that. I love the one handed operation and exposed physical keyboard but looking for something with a bigger screen.

Just wondering how happy you are with one handed operation in general, especially with no D-Pad.

I was just playing with my settings for end and start keys and I saw and end key setting for ring/vibrate. Just thought maybe you could set that up and would be easier to set it back to ring/vibrate each time. I use my talk key for Voice Command and End Key to lock but I just switched my talk key to start menu to see if I like it and that is where I noticed the end key setting fro ring/vibrate but you may already know this..


To all your touch pro 2 users out there, can you please test this to see if its an isolated problem or an issue with all Touch Pro 2 phones.

I want to change my phone to "Vibrate and Ring". I can do this through 2 ways.

1. Go to "Settings" tab then to "Sounds" then change "Ring Type" to "Vibrate and Ring".

OR

2. Go to "All Settings" then under "Personal" go to "Sounds and Notifications". Under the "Notifications" tab go to "Ring Type" and change to "Vibrate and ring"

Both settings apply successfully. BUT, when turning off the phone and turning it back on, the setting reverts back to "Ring". OR, when setting the phone to vibrate/silent and changing it back to loud mode, the phone reverts back to just "Ring".

I know it takes very little effort to change back to "Vibrate and Ring" but this is an issue where the setting should stick, especially when turning the phone off then back on.

Hey Jack G... I currently have a Treo 800w right now and eligible for an upgrade. Was it an easy or tough transition for you? I've been using the 800w for the past 2 years almost plus I had a 700w for 2 years before that. I love the one handed operation and exposed physical keyboard but looking for something with a bigger screen.

Just wondering how happy you are with one handed operation in general, especially with no D-Pad.
