Since she is the voice of sprint from a PR standpoint, maybe she is giving the official press release on the topic? Many times a service soft launches without being advertised as "available," right?
Edit: The press release was dated 7/21/09 regarding Atlanta

We have not yet launched 4G service in Atlanta.
We're excited to soon offer it to Atlanta residents in August. Stay tuned for more details on the exact launch date - coming soon!

This is true, because the Atlanta 4G was softrolled in May, so you have a point maybe now they are just officially releasing the info.
Sure your not thinking of Clearwire?
Clearwire is sprint 4G. Sprint owns 51% of "Clearwire" as a joint venture to deploy 4G service nationwide.
As with everything though, its gonna take a while and tons of cash. I think Sprint decided to keep it as 51% in Clearwire, as opposed to Clearwire merging with Sprint, to keep "Sprint" debt lower and to get better financing rates on the new debt.

Will SERO plans be able to take advantage of the 4G speeds? In other words, will SERO plans include any 4G compatible phones?

That's an article?
In my english class that was called a PARAGRAPH. And it had virtually ZERO information that has not already been discussed here.
FYI - I tried in New Orleans last week. No signal / network, so that's not a soon-to-roll city... though they would GREATLY benefit.

Charlotte, NC also has Road Runner Mobile from Time Warner Cable which uses the same 4G network.
