So, I broke down and bought the full coverage Zagg invisible shield from best buy because they told me they would install it for an extra $8. I figured that would take care of a lot of hassle and is worth it. Well... best buy screwed up the installation, the invisible shield is on crooked and covers my usb port. It also overlaps my ear piece and hangs off the bottom left edge of the device. There are also 2 different areas on the screen with large bubbles. I complained about the terrible installation and the rep said that it was Zagg's fault, the shield wasn't cut right. NO IT WASNT, it was best buy's fault for a horrible install.

The rep refused to do a re-install and told me that once a Zagg shield is on, it cannot be reapplied (true?). Furthermore, she wouldnt give me a refund on the shield even though she said it was Zagg's fault for making a poorly cut shield (not true) AND she wouldnt even give me my $8 back for a worthless install.

Im going to a different best buy tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind.... in the interim, is it true that I cannot remove and try to re-align the invisible shield?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about invisibleshield on the pre but I was be able to reapplay it on my treo pro.

The kit come with enough solution to do it again in my opinion.

HOWEVER. I found that it is true that it could come imperfectly cut, mine was slightly crook in the bottom too.

Best Buy didnt even open the solution packet, they claimed to have their own stuff.

The Best Buy mobile I went to said that they would do it until it is perfect. If they had to open another pack that is fine. As far as I know if they put it on and it is not right, they can take it off in the first few minutes and reapply with more solution on it. They are feeding you a line. Before having them install, ask how many times have they install invisible shield on any unit? You have a better shot at a Best Buy Mobile only store. But as far as I know, if you have them install it, they will keep doing it until it is perfect, at least that is what the manager told me.

The only problem is there in no where in my state that has kiosks for IS or any other screen protector like IS. I live in the Northeast. I we want it installed for us we only have Best Buy. I have two left hands (which is not good) and have had problems in the past trying to put these things on.

Well, i took it off because it was useless as applied. After about 15 minutes I have it on straight, it fits like a glove, no problems going over the corners or over the usb port or earpiece. Zagg made a great product, best buy just has no idea what a proper install looks like.

Anyhow, its on there straight now.... I just have a LOT of little bubbles that I can't squeegee out. Zagg claims these little bubbles will go away over the next 24 hours... we will see.

The invisible shields can DEFINITELY be re-applied. There is a little sponge included with the pre invisible shield that says that even after the sponge dries out, you can fill it with water up to 3 times before it loses its stickyness.

Now I want my $8 back.

You paid Best Buy $8 to install a plastic screen shield.

Darwinian fail.

the 17 year old teen installing it was probably his first one ever.

I'm glad you got it right. I would go over that assoc head to the store manager. Whatever that assoc was feeding you was a total line. Based on that you should get nothing less than a full refund of the IS and install fee. Of course, that's just me and what I would do.

im always surprised what people will pay for? i mean, its a piece of plastic on a phone...do it yourself.

no disrespect to the OP, just a general situation i see so much.

i also had it installed at best buy and i find that it could have been done better. I was lucky that the person applying it had another person ring me up and she forgot to include the 8 dollars. lol.

take it back and show them that look it fits good and was cut right. i had to do it myself. now i want my money back. talk 2 the manager if you have 2. because everything she or he told you was a BS line they can be reinstall. plus they suppose to guarantee the install for 2 weeks at least my IS kiosk at our mall does. Best buy should also. after the 2 weeks it would cost 5 bucks for a reinstall on brand new one. but its life time guaranteed and you should be able to get a new one and it installed again for free at no cost if it was within 2 weeks.

thats how my mall kiosk works.

even though i got one bit to complain about which is last time i paid to get my mogul redone they forgot a piece to put on and i didnt notice until i got home and couldnt take it back being its like 45 mins away and i dont go there often but next time i go im taking it 2 show them hey replace it for free since you missed a piece.

soon as she started trying to blow smoke up my a$s I'd have asked for the store manager straight away. most best buys I've had experience with have had excellent service, there's no need for putting up with that kind of bull.

The reason I didn't put the shield on myself is that I'm an OCD perfectionist when it comes to these things, and it took me 45 minutes to put a boxwave screen protector on my HTC Touch. It was probably fine for most people after my first attempt, which only took 3 minutes. But I wanted everything exactly perfect, so it took probably 20-30 reapplications. I thought that by paying $8 to have it "professionally installed" by a rep who claims to have done hundreds, I could avoid this 45 minute headache.

I see this woman at my local best buy every time I go in there (at least once a week), so i didnt feel like always getting a dirty look everytime I enter the store. I will go to another BB this afternoon and demand a re-install/replacement. Or at the very least an exchange of the shield and refund of my money.

I guess if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

Man when I read the words "horror story" I was expecting you to come out and say that best buy twisted your Pre in half or got water inside. Well atleast you're only out $8 at this point, and hopefully you get it back.

as for those saying "why pay $8", I say its because then the store owns it until its right....so back to the OP, you shouldn't have left the store with it if it wasn't 100% right, I understand about not wanting to cause trouble but you should have said "this isnt right, keep it, im not accepting it, or paying for it till its right and I will speak to the manager about it". once you leave with it the manager rightfully has some reason to doubt whether its their problem or not. just my $.02.... and I dont even know what the invsishield is?!?

Went to another best buy today and they completely understood my frustration. The manager there felt really bad that I had to go through the trouble of coming to another best buy to get the issue resolved. He immediately refunded me the $8, and although they did not have another pre invisible shield in stock, he took my number and said he would call me when they come in. At that time he would personally put the invisible shield on my device as many times as it takes to get it perfect.

Same goes for all companies but customer service is not about a corporate image, its all about the individual who sits behind the desk. At least someone will finally get it right.

Again, glad it's right and a refund for the install atleast. However, I would have went back to the same store and made sure the assoc was repremanded. That's just me however.

Again, glad you were taken care of.

I got my InvisibleShiled installed Monday night at Best Buy. The guy said it would take 12 hours or so to get the bubbles out. He said to leave the phone off. I did, after 12 hours the bubble were still there.

I went back to Best Buy that night after work and the manager said no problem reinstalling it at no additional cost and suggested I wait til their "expert installer" comes back to work Thursday. They took the InvisibleShiled off my phone, photocopied my receipt, and pulled a new one off the shelf to make sure I would have one, then took down my number and said that they would see me Thursday night after I get off of work.

Now that is what I call good service. I can't wait til tomorrow now to make sure they come through.

You need to have him get a hold of the store manager to the employee who installed it wrong and get something done for that. She should not be allowed to work in that department, or be responsible for that service if she cannot perform it correctly. Don't let these people get away with "murder".. They need to have action done towards them to let their stupid ***es know they can't just do this to customers.
