I have a grandfathered Sprint plan that I absolutely do not want to give up. However, the hubby wants us to upgrade to Direct connect phones with GPS. I get different answers each time I call customer care or go to a Sprint store. Does anyone know if I can keep my plan and add those features?? Any ideas on how much $$ ? I read on another site if I called the retention Dept. I could probably get it added for free. (All 4 phones are out of contract) Anyone got their #?? :thought:
Thanks.

There should be no need to change plans to get that phone, have heard some say they were told that and even forced into it, don't fall for it. Talk to Account Services

I am thoroughly confused. A friend says they use different networks so I'd have to change. After reading on this network ,I see there is Qchat and Direct connect. From what I can see, Qchat is Sprint's and DC is Nextel's???? I am told Sprint's service is superior so should I try and find Qchat phones? The stores don't even label anything that way????

My fault, I should've clarified that you wouldn't have change plans if you got the Sanyo Pro 200, 700, Samsung zsomething, Lg LXSomething or Moto Renegade anything else is IDEN and would need a change of plan

Are you upgrading your phones to Nextel or keep it in Sprint?

Well I want to keep the "Sprint plan" but when I went into the Sprint store, I didn't see any Sprint phones with DC. The only ones I saw were "Nextel". My husband likes the I580 (rugged). For me, it doesn't much matter as long as it has DC, camera, video and web.

I'm suprised your area doesn't have DOrA, none of the phones mentioned earlier are in your area

Well, I am not very technical. So I don't know if it's me or I don't know what to ask for. What is DOra? I see the Renegade phone but alot of the other models look like they are old. (Reviewing on Cnet)
I am mostly trying to find out if I'm going to have to either change plans or have a added charge per phone for Sprint's push to talk.
Any ideas on who I should call? I see the Retentions department referenced on this site. How do I get their number?? Customer service is anything but that. So I was thinking push the option for new service and talk to them??

DOrA is the broadband coverage on the map which is needed for the 2 Sanyos, 1 Lg, 1 Samsung and 1 Moto to work with DC. There is a charge for DC per line and as far as I know it's been dropped from $10 to $5, you'll want to talk to Retention about pricing because not everybody know about the new price even some in that department

Well, FYI. . . . I got Sprint to give me Nights & Weekends for free, the (2) phones that were charged $5 ea for vision is now free. Bought a Mot Renegade and added PTT to my existing plan for $5. each phone (so no added cost)
I couldn't be happier!!!! Thanks for all the info on this site.:tu:
