I hope so, I was spoiled by the Fusic and the extended battery for the Muziq. I don't want to worry about my battery anymore.

Does anyone know if there is a significant difference between and 1100mAh battery and a 1200mAh battery? I took my lotus in a few weeks ago for poor battery life and the store replaced the original LG battery with a sprint branded one that is 1100mAh....
Lord Bricks

got pictures of it?
davidstjohn1: Your LOTUS battery is 850 mAh?
aleesara: Your LOTUS battery is 1100 mAh?
The battery that came with my LOTUS is 900 mAh. I originally purchased it in November 2008.
Is Sprint supplying various capacities of batteries with this handset? (Is this common?)

Yes, they do. I didn't realize that they had installed it on the phone until a CS rep at the store asked me if I wanted to keep it when I swapped the handset. The details are as follows:
Sprint Standard Battery

1100mAh Lilon Rechargeable Battery: 3.7V 4.1Wh
"For use with Power Vision Phone LOTUS/LX600 by LG"

I can't really compare since the original battery I had was defective, but on average I usually get 3-4 days with average use and 2 days with heavy usage.
I really wish that I would have posted about this battery earlier, I honestly did not realize that people were not aware of this battery!

They didn't charge me...frankly they didn't even tell me that they had replaced it. When I asked them about it later, they said that it was standard practice to replace a defective manufacturer's battery with a sprint branded one.

Update on the sprint battery:
So I called yesterday and I gave them a model number. The person on the other end said yes we have them in stock and gave me the price of 49.99. So I go up there and tell them I am looking for this specific battery. After going to the store, which was not out of my way but took time, all they have is the standard battery.
I really wish people knew what they were doing sometimes.

I think the regular battery works well and I have two of those (really three because I have both the purple and the red lotus and I bought the battery before I got the red lotus).
I was just thinking if you wanted more power you could just get a extra OEM off ebay much cheaper.
Just my 2 cents...

That is a good point and i've thought about that too. You can pick up a new OEM or even a generic 850-900mAh battery of ebay for pretty cheap, and have an alternate on hand.

Since this thread is about batteries, I thought the information here might be useful: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/index.htm
Lithium Ion batteries: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-5A.htm
1. Li-Ion cells do not benefit from a longer initial charge:
" Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days."
"Unlike nickel and lead-based batteries, a new lithium-ion pack does not need cycling through charging and discharging. Priming will make little difference because the maximum capacity of lithium-ion is available right from the beginning. Neither does a full discharge improve the capacity of a faded pack."
2. Leaving the cells in the charger for any longer than necessary for a complete charge (usually around 3 hours) will not improve the battery's performance or capacity:
"Most cells are charged to 4.20 volts with a tolerance of +/?0.05V/cell. The charge time of most chargers is about 3 hours. Smaller batteries used for cell phones can be charged at 1C; the larger 18650 cell used for laptops should be charged at 0.8C or less. The charge efficiency is 99.9% and the battery remains cool during charge. Full charge is attained after the voltage threshold has been reached and the current has dropped to 3% of the rated current or has leveled off."
Once fully charged:
"No trickle charge is applied because lithium-ion is unable to absorb overcharge. A continuous trickle charge above 4.05V/cell would causes plating of metallic lithium that could lead to instabilities and compromise safety. Instead, a brief topping charge is provided to compensate for the small self-discharge the battery and its protective circuit consume. Depending on the battery, a topping charge may be repeated once every 20 days. Typically, the charge kicks in when the open terminal voltage drops to 4.05V/cell and turns off at a high 4.20V/cell. "
3. Leaving the cells in the charger for any longer than necessary for a complete charge (usually around 3 hours) will probably reduce their life-span:
"Hints to long battery life-
*
* Limit the time at which the battery stays at 4.20/cell. Prolonged high voltage promotes corrosion, especially at elevated temperatures. (Spinel is less sensitive to high voltage than cobalt-based systems).
*
* 3.92V/cell is the best upper voltage threshold for cobalt-based lithium-ion. Charging batteries to this voltage level has been shown to double cycle life. Lithium-ion systems for defense applications make use of the lower voltage threshold. The negative is reduced capacity"
"Much attention is focused to avoid over-charging and over-discharging. Commercial lithium ion packs contain a protection circuits that limit the charge voltage to 4.30V/cell, 0.10 volts higher than the voltage threshold of the charger."

I have a charger for RC lipos that can do that. It can pull the battery completely down and then charge back fully. When it charges it back it tells you how many mah it put back in it. Ill try to see if I can get it on there tonight. I am confident the battery is better, all weekend at the end of the day I was at 100%. The battery measuring precision sucks on this phone, so I know its not really 100%, but, I was never able to do that before. I use gmail imap so my internet connection is mostly on all day.

OK battery tech.
First this 3 days 3 bars is a bad measure. The battery meter is measuring VOLTAGE since they have no way to measure "capacity" they guess based on voltage. If the battery is under LOW LOAD the voltage will "stay" higher tricking the battery meter.
Battery capacity is a strange thing. Its not consistent at all. It largely depends on the "load" you apply. The higher the load the lower the effective capacity.
For example lets say I have a 10 amp hour battery. This means this battery can provide a 10 amp load for 1 hour.
Well not exactly. That depends on how they came up with that figure. ITs possible you might only get a full 10 amp hour at a 1 amp draw ie 10 hours at 1 amp.
at 10 amps you might only get 40 minutes ie less than 10amp hours.
Lithium is a little less subject to this problem but it is still a problem.
so a phone will go a lot longer at "standby" than it will at full tilt.
also it may show 3 bars after 3 days and then drop dead after a 10 minute call :-) (that pesky voltage reading thing)
once you apply the LOAD the voltage drops and the true battery level is revealed.
The best way to test a battery conclusively is to TALK on it. this uses the maximum power. Most electronics the screen is the vampire but on cell phones the transceiver is.
You might say but wait the internet uses the transceiver.
Not really. not the way we need it too at least.
INTERNET on CDMA phones is the "ideal" form of ultimately efficient network usage. This is one of the reasons sprint is "ok" with tethering if you don't abuse it. Its also why they are NO LONGER always ok with it. with EVDO speeds people are more inclined do more CONSTANT traffic type surfing IE downloading streaming than they are the usually on demand check e-mail grab a web page.
When you go on the internet with a CDMA phone you are only on the internet for short "bursts"
know those 2 arrows that indicate DATA internet traffic? the only time you are EVER on the internet is WHEN those bars are actually flashing. Otherwise your on a phone looking at static content.
On top of that internet traffic is not unidirectional. UP and DOWN are independent of each other. If your doing a lot of just down it does not need to do UP except to confirm error correction send requests etc..
Very very efficient. If you said you were on the internet for say an hour I would say you were likely on the internet for 3 or 4 minutes MAX probably a lot less and the other 57 minutes you were LOOKING at the content you GOT in those 3 or 4 minutes of cumulative time.
Suddenly not as much power as you might think ehh? Pretty cool too!
Now when you are talking you are using the transceivers at a 100% duty cycle FULL duplex. IE even when your NOT talking your still receiving and your still transmitting Plus your powering the screen partially and your powering the speaker and its amplifier and your powering the processor and speech processing on both ends etc.. etc.. etc..
SO get on the phone and start talking. Takes too much energy? place a radio near each phone and let it play. You don't even have to be nearby if you have good signal. just plug one phone in and leave the lotus on battery.
later on when you notice the lotus is off ie dead check the other phone for the LENGTH of the call. Thats your battery life.
Now do that with both batteries. Oh and then repeat that in 3 months time of usage.
part of the problem with chinese batteries is not just false claims of capacity but also QUALITY so they tend to DIE really really fast especially in high load applications.
You can get rip kits pretty cheap on ebay. thats a brand new in the box everything EXCEPT the phone. I got 2 of these paid $13 for one and $17 for the other.
so now I have 2 more each of OEM batteries USB cables chargers purple backs boxes and manuals. :-) nice :-)
Good luck and keep us informed on how the battery works out!

I like the idea of getting the Sprint labeled one as it's only 100mAh lower than the other one, plus i feel safer that i won't be getting a mislabeled chinese POS. I don't however think i'm going to like the price as i'm guessing with shipping it will run easily $50?

Kinda ironic, checked my OEM battery and guess where it`s manufactured? Yup, China...however; from cell made in Japan.
I`d like to hear back from a few that have had the battery for a few more days now and provide some more followup feedback.

Well after a couple days i have had this battery i have to say im not overly excited. Its not over and beyond the oem battery i have! It does last a while longer but nothing to write home about. I am wondering about quality issues with it since i noticed that when i use it the power level fluctuates sometimes. Like i will be talking on it or using the internet and it will go to 2 bars then afterwards go back up to 3 bars. Im not sure thats right or a sign of a weak battery. The really only thing i noticed that makes this battery seem better is standby time. I will hope for a true extended battery someday like an 1800 mah battery that will last a long time.

Thank you for the info aleesara.
I called the store and the girl I spoke with pretty much had no idea what I was talking about. She said as a general rule they do NOT sell the batteries and that IF the battery exists they would only issue them as a replacement. She had no knowledge of the 1100mAh battery.
Incidentally, I also had a chat session with a Sprint rep and they also could not find the battery anywhere and were directing me to unhelpful third-party websites.
This whole thing is strange. How is there a battery and no one sells it?
Is it possible that new Lotus phones are just now coming out with 1100mAh?

Makes sense, if you read the dialogue that NERYS posted, it sounds like you'll get varying battery meter readings depending on your usage and by this i mean what your doing with your phone. His battery info, while lengthy, was interesting.

this the short version of my experience with the 1200 mah purchased and installed on Mon of this week, today is Thursday ,so I'm on my 4th day , and still have 2 bars left- I'm not a big phone user per say - but I hate charging my phone, This extended battery is absolutely perfect for me and the way I me my phone. Exactly what I was looking for- and i was indeed skeptical at first -but for 27 buck s - I rolled the dice- and I'm glad I did. So a big thank for the original post - well done my friend -- hope this helps some one - Be well all.

Good investment!

Nope, my phone didn't come with the 1100 battery, it had the standard 900 battery. The battery, however was installed as a replacement for the LG battery because it failed the battery test. The person that actually replaced the battery was a store assistant manager who happened to be doing tech support on the day that I went in.

I've had the Lotus for a week and indeed notice how quickly the battery drains; that is compared to other phones I have owned before. Will the 1200mAH battery be bigger in size - dimension wise?
So far I am surprised how I like this phone. At first it did resemble a woman's make up compact but soon one will get over that especially when introduced to its neat qwerty design and vibrant screen.
Only thing that troubles me are the missed calls and messages displays. It should have better visual alert because the white blinky blink that it shows hardly draws attention to the user. Otherwise the Lotus is a fantastic device.

I just saw this post and checked my phone and it does say 900 but Ididn't realize you could by 1200 and that you had to check the numbers. The other day my mom had me order her a home charger she lost for her phone and she bought me a 3 dollar car charger since I am on my 3rd Sprint one that went bad and I saw a battery for 8.99 and she bought me that too. It hasn't come yet but I thought heck for 8.99 I'll have an extra. My battery doesn't drain as bad now though since I took one click off but I have had a couple of instances where it died completely and my car charger didn't work. So keeping a fully charged battery in my purse will come in handy. I won't need it that often but for 8.99 I thought I would try it. I hope it's ok but I am sure it's the same as I have now the 900.
Edit I just checked cellphoneshop.com and I dikd a search for LG Lotus battery and the one I bought came up and it says 850MAH oh well for an extra one it will be ok for me heck it was only 8.99

Update from the 1200mah battery i have purchased about a month ago.
1. It fits snug but perfect in the lotus without any alterations needed.
2. It is a little better and holds a charge a lot longer.
3. I have noticed it can drain at a fast rate when using internet and doesn't show me any real performance difference with high usage.
4. I haven t yet had a real test to see if this is a REAL 1200mah battery. (I have my doubts)
5. I will continue to use this battery until i have another option.
I am a heavy user of internet, instant messaging and email and downloading of pics, ring tones and video. It is a little better but im not sure its worth the 24.00 I paid for it. I maybe might have bought a 950mah for 10.00 on ebay and swapped batteries when needed. If i had known there wouldn't be a big difference in performance. I hope this small review helps.

Update on 1200mah battery:
I received it about a week ago and have been monitoring it. I'm not at all impressed by it. I only see a slight difference. There is a difference but not $24 worth.
I am probably a less than average user of phone and internet. Until yesterday I had email going on the device but disable that to see if that helped battery life.
Either way, the these batteries are small enough that I just tucked the original into the back of my wallet and barely notice its there, so I'll always have an extra if need be.
I would not recommend the purchase. Perhaps the 950mah on ebay is a better buy.

Another update!
I had to take the battery out due to it discharging rather quickly now and the stock battery is far better then the battery (1200mah) i had in there. I am very dissapointed and totally give this battery a F- it was ok until it startered acting up taking a longer time to charge and loosing a charge quickly. I discourage anyone trying to buy this battery.

what you got was a defective battery. The "failure" rate of the cheap chinese batteries is a lot higher a percentage than for stock batteries.
when they are $3 a pop who cares you buy 5 or 6 and if only 2 hold up you got a bargain. but at $24 not so great a deal :-)

I agree with the previous posters. Mine is no better than the old battery. I still have to charge daily, and I'd consider myself a moderate user (350 min, 500 texts per month).
It would be fine as a replacement for the stock battery as long as it's expected to give the same performance as the stock battery.

So it's been a few days and the battery definitely lasts longer than the original one. I could never even make it through the day without charging my phone and now my worst case scenario has been one bar left after what I would call a normal day which typically includes an hour of music, 45 minutes of browsing, 30 texts, a few calls, bluetooth enabled and, automatically updating mail and weather.
All in all, a good purchase for the price.

^ Sorry to hear you had no noticeable improvement with yours, bp. Did you do a full charge/discharge/recharge first? It's a good idea to do this, to help set the memory range. I know, Lithium Ion is not supposed to have memory issues, but I've witnessed first hand that starting out without a full discharge seems to affect the maximum stored power. After that, you can discharge/charge at any level you like, but I try to fully discharge once every few months.
- - - - - -
Well, it's good to hear that these cells are actually 1100mAh. I'm surprised that they actually have a Sprint logo on it... I wonder if it's legitimately OEM, because you can't buy these from Sprint. Is there a holographic sticker? Supposedly the cost in making those deters the imitators.
Anyway, I've got 3 OEM Lotus batteries that I constantly rotate on recharging. So if I'm on the go and a battery gets low, I can quickly pop in a freshly charged one that I make sure to keep in my laptop bag. And when out on the town, I take a spare as well. Using the Sprint Nav uses a lot of power, but it's so handy when on foot to an unfamiliar destination.

I have 4 batteries I need to find away to charge them without my phone. So i always have one ready. As much as the battery problem is annoying. I can't find another phone I like. I was hopping that the 1100mAH battery in the lotus would make it stay charged as long as the elite. But no such luck. For me it feels like the battery life on the elite is almost double the amount the lotus gives me.

I have heard a few other people say the Elite has a better battery life and is also more than double the speed of the original. But the new design just doesn't appeal to me enough to go for it. Plus, I'm very disappointed in the loss of some functionality, especially when invoking the LG menu in place of the carousel. LG shouldn't have taken anything away... kept the good menu options system as designed, and still allowed for 12 shortcuts.
If you prefer the original to the Elite but the battery issue is your biggest problem, you can charge the batteries independently of the phone, using one of THESE (http://www.wirelesshunt.com/product_info.php?cPath=3_1392_4676&products_id=1004). It's a universal LG battery charger. It's only for AC outlets though, no USB.

Actually there's an even better price on "that auction site." Lowest I see out there is $3.35. Pretty inexpensive experiment if it doesn't work out. For $24 I would rather buy 2 batteries from amazon.
Also if you are looking for extended battery you could just buy 2 batteries and use a clip charger so you can charge the battery outside the phone.
I purchased this one off amazon and works like the original.

Lucian, thanks for the battery link. Looks like a pretty good deal if it's a totally brand new and reliable battery for $11 shipped. I've had enough mixed experiences from battery sellers on "fleabay" that I just don't trust them any longer.
You also mentioned a clip charger. Never heard of these. I searched on the Internet and turned up nothing useful. Do you have a link to that charger for sale somewhere?
BP, how's your battery charger working out? My first one was a dud. The seller sent me a replacement that seems to work, but given the flimsy construction of the plug swivel, I don't have high expectations for it lasting long.

1. Lenmar PPUCLIP: This is an awsome charger and compact easy to bring on the go. You have to plug it in a USB charger. Most new phones come with a USB charger.

Well... I don't know if I've just become unlucky with a particular battery, but something has gone strangely wrong. It's an LG OEM battery and, even with a full charge, it'll just suddenly stop delivering power to the phone. The phone will shut down and I won't even know it (no sound, nothing).
And guess what--it only happens with this particular battery, which is the ONLY ONE I charged with this universal charger. It was fine before I started charging it with it too. That leaves me unsettled about the charger. There could be some kind of flaw in the way it charges that might screw up the battery chemistry.
BP, have you experienced this with any of your batteries charged by it?

I tried both chargers. I left both batteries charging for 12 hrs . They went from dead to 1 bar. A complete waste of time and money. I think the chargers have a better chance of going on fire then giving my battery a full charge. I gave up on my lotus. I have the rumor touch now.

Wow, OK. That's another testimony of bad performance on these chargers. I'll update my review and hope that fewer people will make the mistake. Thankfully they're cheap!
I went ahead and recharged the battery that appeared to be "faulty" using my USB cable instead, and now it seems OK. I'm going to try charging it again once it runs down, this time down to 1 bar, and see how long it takes to recharge and if that peculiar power behavior still happens.
