Yesterday morning I woke up to my phone's alarm function and turned it off. I noticed that after doing so, the phone "locked up" and wouldnt respond to any of the keys or side buttons. I took the battery out and put it back in - it responds to the end/power button to turn the phone on, but after it's on, none of the other keys work. :(

I can receive calls and texts, and the phone seems to be working 100% absent the fact that I can't interact with it besides removing the battery.

Is this the phone's death knell, or is it salvageable? I'm asking since I won't be able to go to the sprint store until tomorrow - I'd like to have my contacts saved at the very least.

If the phone powers on, more than likely you will be able to get the contacts out. Have you gotten the phone wet? Do you have insurance?

If you answer no to the wet and yes to insurance, the service and repair center should be able to fix it/ replace it. If you have TEP and it got wet, and you know it did, dont even bother taking it to the store, just do an insurance claim through www.phoneclaim.com

No insurance and no wetness. Sorry to see this phone go - it's better in many aspects to what is offered today.

The exact same thing has happened to my phone. It was working great one minute and then nothing the next. This has also happened once before, several months ago, and I really don't know what I did, but it started working again and until yesterday I haven't had any problems at all. It's never been wet so it has to be a problem in the phone.
