I've been a Sprint customer for nearly a decade. Over the years I've been tempted to leave, and when I call to cancel, they have always made an offer good enough to keep me. When I called Yesterday, the guy made NO effort to keep me. He even gave advice on how to port our numbers over to AT&T! I've got 4 lines, and actually my last 'deal' wasn't all that good so I'm probably paying a bit too much each month. I ALWAYS pay my bill on time. Is this why Sprint is losing tons of customers?

I guess they feel if you are not happy and want to leave why hold you. They most likey see that is was happens each time you want to leave and maybe they felt they did enough to keep you and now it is time to let you go..

Don't let one rep discourage you. Keep trying is the key.

1. What do you want from retention - more minutes/cheaper price plan/free add-ons/free phones?
2. Try to get one thing at a time even if you want all the above added - like cheaper price plan and/or free phones through retention, then more mintues through echat and free add-ons through ecare.

Keep on trying my friend. Most people here didn't get what they want on the first try.

This is true, but it sounds like he has gotten stuff from them before maybe his account is red flagged. I do know they do that to accounts the more they ask for and the more they complain each time you get a mark added to your acct.

Your last "deal" wasn't all that good? Um if it was any sort of a discount off the normal prices of plans then it is a deal none the less.

I have a feeling this will be another If sprint doesn't give me a pony threads.

Is this thread supposed to be about tips and tricks for not getting a good deal or is it a rant? :)

You people have problems on this site. Why are you bashing the OP? All he did is say that in the past Sprint has offered things to keep him and this time they didn't. He never said he wanted his service for free or anything close to that. Most of you act as if you own Sprint or something, your a joke get a life.

Now in reguards to the OP, I would just call back and get a diff rep more than likely the outcome will be alot diff. KEEP TRYING

I suppose in the past I've gotten very polite, professional reps (From the retention department only), and this time it sounded like someone young, with an accent, and didn't seem to care too much. At this point, I'm likely to just get an iphone. I'm just amazed that a good customer ($100 a month) was looking to leave, and they didn't do anything. He didn't even try. I don't know if it's the rep, or if it's Sprint. He seemed to read the notes in my account, and asked if I had called to cancel before. He also seemed to make a lot of notes (On what, I don't know), as it took 10-15 minutes. Call it a rant if you want, I was just looking for points of view.

Call again, Sprint is known for one rep offering one thing and another rep saying something totally different.

this post alone proves why sprint should not give you anything... you would pay att well over 200 a month for less and u want sprint to pay for you phone sevice...

if you can get a iphone and its plan for less than what you are paying at sprint, then good luck, but I have a feeling that you are willing to pay more at at&t, don't quite understand this, who are you proving a point to? you leave to pay more to prove a point, because in 2 years I bet you wont get to negotiate a better deal with at&t, just my two cents,

if he truly wants a iphone, then why go thru retentions, and complain about not getting a great offer to stay?? like I said if he wants the iphone, then god bless him, but dont be complaining about not getting offered to save money with sprint, and then say you are going elsewhere, people who truly want to leave never call retentions looking for a deal, or a reason to stay.

Stop whining and let the OP figure out what he wants for himself.

Agreeing with jaewang... so many times I see a rant over one call.

I'm glad sprintusers forum here is active or I wouldn't get my plan otherwise from trying and trying again. It took a few months and about a dozen calls, few e-chats and e-care. I have been with Sprint for 10 years and been paying $100/month for the first 8 years.

After reading this thread I have come to my own conclusion which is this: My feeling is that the OP has "the grass is always greener" syndrome. Upon calling Sprint and subconsciously hoping they will give him an excuse to leave, they seem to have done that. Now the OP seems to have come here hoping for someone edify his reasoning in doing so. Obviously he/she is an adult and does not need anyone elses approval to jump ship on Sprint.

With that being said I do have some advise to the OP:
Whatever you decide to do I suggest you go to ATT before actually canceling your Sprint acct or porting your number, if you like the service, the device and their pricing you can then port your old number and cancel your Sprint service. Just make sure you make a final decision while you are within ATT's money back guarantee period, which I believe to be around 2 weeks (not 30 days like Sprint). Make sure you are very clear about that time frame so you can comeback without a hassle if you should choose to do so.
Good Luck with whatever choice you make.

Again this is only my theory and observation on this post so don't bash my opinion.

Well, if I was inclined to try again, how well will that go over? He seemed to take some notes. I don't even know if I'm cancelled at the end of the month, or if he didn't actually do anything, and figured the switch to AT&T would automatically cancel Sprint.

So, any advice on how to try again?

I've only been with Sprint for a short time but I have learned one valuable lesson about Customer Service. Always always call before noon EST. I have found that no matter what dept I need to speak to that I get the best Reps in the AM hours, no overseas call centers, etc. Also make sure you are not asking for too much, I'm very happy with Sprint but I know they are struggling financially and it's possible that they are just giving too much away.

Just food for thought. Good Luck.

Oh sorry, to answer your question. I suggest being candid with Retentions and call inquiring about the status of your acct. Explain to them that you were a bit appalled and put off by your last call to them and that the rep made you feel like a completely disposable customer, chances are this call will be completely different from the last. Be sincere and don't show hostility. You will always catch more bees with honey than you will vinegar.

Whatever notes he put doesn't matter. When you call back tell them you would prefer to stay with them and see what the new rep offers. Doesn't hurt to try

I'm a ten year Sprint customer. In Summer 2007 I negotiated a plan with retention for my LG Fusics at $65 + $14 insurance for 1200 shared minutes and unlimited data and Sprint subsequently gave me 1000 free texts on each phone. I am only looking to buy Palm Pre to replace one Fusic. After email to Sprint, they tell me I can't keep my plan and hafta switch to an Everything Plan with Data. My charges will probably more than double. Can some one furnish the current retention phone number. Do I have any chance of negotiating anything these days? Any ideas? Maybe a phone creit for any out of pocket cost for Pre? Again, Its been over 2 years since I last replaced phone. And I'm not looking to currently upgrade second phone.
