My Treo 800w (have had for 7 months) has a loose charge/sync connector so it disconnects and PC says "USB Device not Recognized" if it moves when it is plugged in. I have tried other microUSB cables and the same thing happens. This has been a problem since late January, but I have been hesitant to bring it in because I don't want to get a brand new 800w when the Pro is a week away (and it has been "a week away" ever since January ;)).

I know TEP isn't an upgrade program, but if my phone is actually broken and I have the opportunity to get the new revision then I will definitely go for it. My question is how soon service centers begin replacing a phone with its replacement when it is EOL'd. Should I hold out for a few more weeks or is it going to be a 6 month wait and I should just go in to get it fixed now?

Your probably going to get a refurb 800w as a replacement.

Last time I had an issue with my phone (keypad backlight on Centro stopped working) the store gave me a NIB Centro replacement.

Replacement phones can be around for sometimes over a year after the device goes EOL. The 800's are going to be around for a pretty decent amount of time as TEP replacements.

I'm trying to find out about ESRP replacement, not through Asurion.

The stores and Asurion have basically the same replacements. If Asurion is able to get a refurb, the stores will be able to order the refurb. Even if you go to a store, they are going to order you a replacement about 90% of the time, unless that replacement is not available. It as also possible they will not consider a Pro as a replacement option for a Treo800.

You dont need asurion or a replacement , if you are not getting the usb cables recognized BUT your charger works, you need to go to www.palm.com/support and download the usb recognition software, its free and you need to put it on your sd card then install it on the phone. After that you shouldnt have to do anything else, your data cables should work.

they wont all the replacements ive seen are refurbs and the warehouse has tons of them since they dont go through that many of them, the only time you see asurion or service and repair center will give you another model is if the current model is out of stock. IE the Palm Centros= Weve had to replace so many of those phones that they are sending new in box ones to the store to replacce the old devices.

Two words.. Advanced Exchange.

They can check the stock to see if there are any NIB's available, they give you a little USPS pouch to return your old phone.

Pros: You get a BNIB device (depending on availability)
You get to keep your current accessories/box while getting a BNIB of accessories
They don't charge you for this replacement. No $50 deductible, no charge for the full price of the phone until they receive your old one back

Cons: None for the most part..
