Although I think we all are in desperate need of a notification light (why we've installed Butler), I dont know that you can come to that conclusion?

Maybe the graphic was just illustrating that there was a button on the bottom?

I was thinking the same about it, I mean, the button looks chrome/solid. But there could be a small light ring thats around it, or the space between the case and button could glow.

hmm tough call. If your lighting it up only to bring attention to it.....then why are you bringing attention to it....just to say that "we have a button here"....it would have light up all the buttons then?

Or maybe to say that this one button is where everything centers around.......

Tough1, I hope it does light up

That looks more like something added to the movie for visual effect. As with everything else, WE NEED MORE INFORMATION!!!

(Sigh)

Yeah, that's the same video that I linked to in this thread (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181012) (although Palm has changed the video now). I sure hope it has some kind of notification light and @Palm_inc on twitter has said it will.

Hopefully they use the light sparingly. I'm still sore over the HTC Mogul's perpetual "heartbeat light" debacle -- no customer should ever have to install third party software just to manage LED notifications.

The video is a render anyway based on what they expected at the time. It sounds like at one point early in the design that it had a center button that lit up and they've since changed that to the gesture area lighting up for feedback when you're using it. Maybe those lights will be controllable though for alerts.

I didn't hear anything about the center button being a notification light, other than it will light up though...

I'm about 99.9% sure it will be a notification light. There's no reason for it to light up otherwise. Plus, she put "shows functions" which obviously we aren't able to see..

Even if it's not for notification I'm sure programs/hacks can make it be so.

Here's the YouTube video of the Q&A for the Center Button (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7xV0fLbLJ0). Basically he mentions it lighting up as a conformation you pressed it and not that it'll be used as a notification. It would've been better if the question was more specific. Hopefully Palm will add it or as meatpopsicle mentioned, an app or hack will get it to work that way.
