View Full Version : sprint cracking down on late bills?

so I guess my last bill was due a week and a half ago. Today I get an email saying I need to pay it within 10 days or my service will be terminated. Since when do they do this? I usually just wait every few months and have my parents pay it (college student). But it's not even 2 weeks late yet. Just wondering if this is a new policy or something, as I used to not pay it for 3 months or so and then just have my dad pay it for me...

so your saying your constantly late? if so i can see why sprint is threatening to terminate your service its nothing to do with cracking down sprints policies state they reserve the right to terminate your service for poor payment history. which only paying every few months IMO is quite poor history.
the only cracking down sprint may be doing is actually taking steps to go after customers with a poor history such as yourself. where previously in the past they may have just let it slide.

Nah not constantly. I would say 1/3 of the time. I guess I could pay it on time but then that would come out of my pocket and not my dads lol.

1/3 of the time late is still considered to most people as being poor payment history. I've been a Sprint customer for 10 years or so and have not paid late ever. Now if you were to pay late maybe 1 time a year that is understandable as things like that happen. But 1/3 of the time, c'mon who are you trying to fool. Sprint has threatened you because they are sick of dealing with this. If your adult enough to have phone, pay your bill ontime.

i would say that is pretty consistently late...sprint does not stand for late payments

Lol I have 2 phones. But you see I am a college student. IE I don't have a job. So I only have about 30k in my checking account that is for things other than paying Sprint. So my dad pays it lol.

You mean how much is he NOT paying monthly...lol
If you late for a plane, it leaves without you. If you late paying bills, the utility companies nuke you.

I know I had a job through college. even part time is enough to cover your phone bill.
or like others said maybe don't have a phone. if your dad pays the bill why not be on his plan then. Oh and 30k in your bank account and not even a smidge of it can be used to pay Sprint. You won't be getting much sympathy around here my friend.
why not cut back on a weekend out or something.

You have 30K in your chequing account and you aren't paying your phone bill?
You're late once every 3 months and Sprint threatens to cut you off and you call this "cracking down"?
Maybe it would help if you were to pawn the silver spoon...

welcome to the real world my friend....it's people like you not paying thier bills, mortgages etc. that have caused this current economic situation we see here today. I too wish i could make my own rules, but guess what ain't gonna happen, at least not in reality where we all live. I'd find a part time job, or ask daddy to be more responsible himself.

yes i did eyecon because i was annoyed by you pm'ing me and wasting my time. anyways, why all the hostility? I was only asking if this was a new policy. If I were a poor single mother asking this question you people would be sympathetic.

You said you have 2 phones? Honestly, you admit you pay late 1/3 of the time, and also have your parents pay for it. It's a policy for people who can't pay there damn bill. Get a job and pay your 2 cell phone bills.
Eyecon82 just ignore it. Don't even waste your time. We all know how shocking it is.

if your family is on AT&T and you don't "feel" like paying your own Sprint bill then maybe you should just join up on AT&T and let daddy take care of the bill.
$0.02 and I'm now done feeding the fire.

You read my mind. Credit scores don't mean much while you're in school, but that's going to bite you in the ass once you graduate.

Must be nice. Hey if you don't feel like paying your bills, then that should be the least of your worries. So, at least you can focus on school.

Nah not constantly. I would say 1/3 of the time. I guess I could pay it on time but then that would come out of my pocket and not my dads lol.
IMO, you're lucky Sprint didn't cut off your service and send your account into collections. If my customers were late with their payments 1/3 of the time, that's what I would do (and I DO). Sprint is pretty lenient with you (and/or your parents).
Honestly, if you're old enough to be in a university, then you're old enough to make sure your bills are paid on-time somehow (either pay them yourself and get "Dad" to pay your cell phone bill for you, or make sure you remind your Dad to pay your cell phone bill EVERY MONTH). If you're not old enough to take responsibility to pay your bills on-time, then sorry, but IMO your service deserves to be "cut off" and/or account sent into collections.
Just like you, I went through university without work-study, but I did work during the summers and saved up enough to at least cover my cell phone usage for the rest of the year. If your cell phone bill is too expensive for you (or your parents) to comfortably afford without missing payments, then I would suggest you drop your cell phone plan down to one you (or your parents) CAN afford comfortably... or change carriers to a cheaper one... or change to prepaid and don't use your phone if you don't have the money to "recharge". :thought:
Dude I can afford my bills but I don't like paying them. That's not really your business though. And yes, 2 lines.
Dude, I really don't think ANYONE LIKES paying their bills... so what makes you so different?
I guess I just figured I could make my own rules and pay whenever I felt like it
Are you joking? Or just extremely naive? Have you even paid your own bills before? Unfortunately, this is NOT how the "real" world works (as you probably guessed by the other responses you got)... and the "DUE DATE" Sprint gives you (marked in big, bold letters on the front of your bill or e-bill) isn't just a "suggestion".
Credit scores don't mean much while you're in school, but that's going to bite you in the ass once you graduate.
I agree. OP, you'd better watch what you're doing to your credit before you do something you're going to regret later on. It may not seem like a big deal now, but trust me, it WILL BE a big deal later on when you need to make some big purchases/loans, need to apply for more credit cards, or even need to get a job (yes, most employers do check your credit before hiring).
