Could you find out if the Pre has a true alarm clock like a BB... ex. when you power the phone off will it power on at a specific time the alarm is set for?

Let's get this straight...completely new operating system from the arguable inventor of the hand held PDA, beautiful new hardware, screen, and innovative charger, and you want to know if the alarm will power on the phone? Really?

The alarm?

my bad i for got the s lol. its a great phone, i wouldve never thought it fit so nicely in my hand. it is kinda small but man its a nice phone. also the keys are a little to close together for me, since im a 755 user the keys are spread out more but on the pre they are closer together. the keys are gel type so when you push on the button it feels nice and your finger wont slip

2 year upgrade price and "new customer" price is the same. You actually might get a better deal if you are out of contract then if you are a new customer.

Anything we can't find a source for. Too many people have "friends" or "insider info" or "heard it from a rep".

Sorry, nothing personal, but, without proof, this is meaningless.

I am much more inclined to believe you then people who come on and say: I heard it was coming out (insert date here), 3 different reps told me so it must be true, lol.

Question for you, could you tell if the screen was glass or plastic?

well its small than the 755p ill tell you that and as for the ppc6800 i never had that in my hands, the screen is beautiful i love the screen, while the screen is smaller than the iphone but its really not that big of a deal. when you open up the phone its as tall as the iphone but when closed its a bit smaller than the 755p, ill measure it up again and let you know

There are two lights on the sides of the gesture area to give some feedback when you're using it. I don't know if there's actually a notification light in the button itself or anything besides that though... besides the fact that's just a render.

I feel like if the center button lit up for notifications they'd have shown it already, though that wasn't final hardware, and it could just not be finished yet.

that is 100% correct, when i was playing around the gesture area i noticed that on either side of the main button had little lights when you run your finger across from it

i do have a travel alarm....its a htc 6800 love it. i take it everywhere with me. lol, just joking....but it is true. ill buy the app if needed.

i am not one for the two year agreement. i dont like being locked into anything for any time line, or at least one i can aviod. they only knock off 150 bucks then make you pay 200 or more to get out of the agreement. does not make since to me. i just spoke to them and they are giving me the mail in rebate never the less so i get like one hundred buck back.....better then nothing.

i do have my wife on an agreement, she needed a phone and i did not have enough money to pay full price.

this way when i leave i leave. that is just me.

even IF the tethering is turned off, there will be a way to turn it back on. it will not take long to figure that out. not by me mind you.

Hey Eden- how do the search functions work??? Are they as slick as we are all hoping for? Specifically, the Google Maps and Wikipedia portions. I don't think I've seen any of that on the demos yet. I'm hoping that Google Maps is as solid as it is on other devices. Curious also if they are going to allow for replacement applications. Yeah, Google Maps is the best right now, but someday someone else has to take over right? Afterall, there was MapQuest and ok, not much else previous to google...

Haven't you watched all the videos? There are a few floating around with a Vodofone SIM in it (GSM) but the CDMA version like the one on the Palm Keynote, and the hand full of vids after it showcasing it, show that it is very fast in rotating pages, opening and closing pages, etc etc. We are fine, GSM's is going to be kinda laggy..

But I have also watched videos of the iPhone rotating fast. I have played with two different ones (both new with less than a page of apps on it) and they were both very laggy. Yes I am aware of what you are doing. I was born in the morning but it was yesterday morning. I have modded this forum for a long time and I know people such as yourself.

You have blathered away in several threads about having this device and have offered no proof. You are just trying to stir up ****. I should let you know that I don't like it when people stir up ****. :)

You put the eBay info out there and members can do with it as they wish. However, I am getting a bit tired of seeing you say you have this device yet you have 0 evidence of that. So as I stated, put up or shut up. :)

I have T-Mobile so I couldn't care less about the Pre but seeing that these threads maintain a sense of decorum and civility is important to me.

Way to start off your first day.

kthx.

I dont know how to do that seeing as though I only have the one phone and no digital camera. The seller seemed pretty cool to me though and answered all questions before I bought it. If it seems shady to you, don't buy it. Besides, I paid through PayPal so I am not worried anyway. Not to mention I paid w/ my credit card - they will reverse the charges in a minute if something is shady. So far, I'm not worried about anything going wrong. You guyz act like I meant the seller in a dark alley lol

I have T-Mobile so I couldn't care less about the Pre but seeing that these threads maintain a sense of decorum and civility is important to me.

Just curious. If you have T-Mobile why aren't you moderating some T-Mobile Users forum? Seems like a conflict of interest. Maybe if you had Sprint (and I suppose that I can't assume that you don't have Spring in addition to T-Mobile) you would be a little less quick to pull the trigger on some of these threads.

Maybe having T-Mobile makes me a little more objective when dealing with these threads.

I used to have Sprint and was made a moderator here when I did. I still have access to phones and devices on all carriers. *edit* Well the carriers available in my area. :)

oh and BTW, I am a moderator on a a couple other forums, too. ;)

I say, a video of the phone, find out if there's a notification light. Did they throw flash in yet or is it not done being developed? How is MMS? Does it have push email? I think it was said the screen was plastic? Can it be confirmed? (thinking you were the one saying it was, if so, forget this question). In comparison to the iPhone's capacitive screen, how does this capacitive screen stack up? as sensitive? does the plastic screen (if applicable) affect the phone in any way in comparison to the iPhone? (don't you dare start with me guys, I've owned the iPhone and a iPod Touch before, Just want to see how close the screens are as far as sensitivity goes)

Great! FYI, I didn't mean like a light flash. I meant flash support for browsers, apps, etc

Well, Honestly, I don't think there is anything else to find out, outside of what you can get access to, you know? Sounds pretty straight forward, and mostly accurate from all that we've heard. I think we've heard everything there is to know about the phone, until we can actually have some hands on time (several weeks, or just simply owning the phone) to find out what more the OS can offer.

^^agreed. I think now its just a matter of getting hands on experience to find the quirks, niche little items and what not.

I'm curious tho as to the system specs, like processor, and amount of RAM, and that sorta thing, but other than that, I just want the damn phone already!!!

Thought that sorta stuff was released already? I'm thinking maybe the developers might have info on this? The ones using SDK? IDK if they would or not, but I'm thinking so if they need to know what the device is capable of as far as processing power, memory, ram/rom, etc etc. Who knows.. I could be way off.

Most of the development for the device is almost identical to developing for the web. So no, you don't really need to know the hardware of the device to develop for it.

Ok OP. I have some questions for you.
1. Speaker volume is a BIG issue for me. Does the phone ring loud and how loud is the music? What ringers does it support?

2. How do you sync all of your contacts when you dont use outlook? I use the activesync via google exchange on my pro.

3. Battery life info?

And I am also an alarm clock as a must have on the phone.

Thanks

Could you find out if the Pre has a true alarm clock like a BB... ex. when you power the phone off will it power on at a specific time the alarm is set for?

It doesn't need an alarm, it thinks ahead for you. The technology used to charge the phone via the touchstone also picks up your delta waves while you sleep. So let's presume you have an appointment at 7am. You go to sleep at 10pm the night before. The phone will pick up the delta waves emitted by your brain as you are in deep sleep.

While you are sleeping the phone is looking up your appointments and planning your route ahead of time. It knows to be on time at 7am you need to leave your home by 630am. However based on previous traffic reports for previous days the flow of traffic says you should leave by 610am. So now you need to take a shower and get dressed. Should take you 40 minutes to do so. So now it knows you need to be up by 530am.

It does all these calculations while you are sleeping. So at 400am your phone will emit K complexes which will reduce delta wave activity in your brain. Bring you from stage three to state two sleep.

at 4:30 it will begin to emit beta waves to bring you from stage two to stage one sleep.

by 5am you should be in stage one sleep. The phone will adjust from beta to theta waves. This will give you a smooth wake up schedule to prepare you for your normal day. No more sudden buzzes or alarms to disrupt your beauty sleep. Now the phone can gradually awaken you.
