View Full Version : Qchat, NDC, direct talk?

One of the cool things about the old Nextel direct connect is Direct Talk - you can set up your phone to transmit directly to another phone, no network coverage needed, for serious communication reliability. Does anyone know if this feature works with the new version of NDC on the new phones, like Sanyo Pro 200/700?

I'm in a market that doesn't have EVDO yet, so no Qchat, no new phones, but I'm looking at what's coming in the future.

I understand that qchat is on EVDO-A, and the old NDC is IDEN (IIRC). Does the new version of NDC, qchat, support Direct Talk, or is that function only compatible with the old IDEN protocol?

that function only works with iden radios. since its a phone to phone connection no towers invovled.
