So after 6 months and 2 phones (the Instinct & the Diamond) i'm back with my trusty ole' M1 again. I always loved the phone but left it cause it doesn't have all the features that today's current product line has; but it was never a bad phone. But i've come to the conclusion that even though it doesn't do as much as newer phones the things it does do it does them VERY WELL. the phone is supper reliabel and sturdy. phone quality is great. SMS and MMS are awesome on it. and its probably the best camera i've ever had on a phone.
As for MMS in particular this device shines well above the Diamond. the diamond has Sprints clunky, horribly slow and unreliable "PictureMail App" for Windows Mobile. Its well know and complained about that it ussually never sends your pictures; they stay in pending forever. And when you do recieve one it takes several screens and menus to get to it and its a low quality image on a white background. here they have a VGA screen to play with and they deliever low-res pics in a slow and unresponsive app. The M1 delivers a full screen high-quality image that looks great even on its QVGA screen.
and the camera on the M1 beats both the Instance and Diamond hands down. The Instinct's camera is horrendous! horrible image quaility and the camera had ABSOLUTELY NO settings at all. could not change quality, screen res, colors; nothing. and no flash. The diamonds takes decent pictures if you can hold the camera still for 15-20 seconds while you wait for it to auto focus; its horribley slow. The M1 not only has many optoins for its camera, but also has built in features to edit a photo even after its taken. And a quick auto focus feature and a flash make it rock.
So even though the M1 doesn't promise the moon like some other phones, it at least delivers what it says it will flawlessly.

You can say that again. That's the best phone I've ever had. I tried the Diamond myself, and did not like the picture mail problems at all. I tried the camera, and while it has great resolution, it was slow like you said. I also do not have the patience to deal with windows mobile at all. I wish Sanyo or I think Kyocera now, would just make an updated M1, I'd be such a happy camper.

I hear everyone rave about the M1. Makes me want to hunt for one on ebay and try it out.

donblay - have you tried a LG Lotus? I had one and sold it which now I'm regretting but hopefully I'll have a M1 in the next few days. :fingers: I tried using a 610 and that didn't work out that great. I prefer having a Qwerty keyboard.

yeah... i have the touch pro now and its SO much more complicated... takes longer to do everything... the M1 had the customizable favorites menu... i could get to almost anything within 2 button presses..

but I do have to say, the touch pro is still an amazing device, with MUCH more capability... so i'll stick with it for now... but my M1 is never too far away...

this is the same reason i still use my M1, and keep my mm9k, both still work great and do everything i need, essentially when i need tethering and not bluetooth i use my 9k and when i need bluetooth and a good cam i use the m1.

both phones have gps navigation :-) both phones have opera mini and bolt installed so im good to go!

I got my M1 today and I just can't believe that a regular phone that is a few years old still has better camera then today's $500+ pda camera phones. Also those expensive pda phones don't function as quick as the M1. Nice to have a flashlight again. lol
