It keeps trying to plug in words for me even though I've already turned the T9 into alphabet. Is there anyway to make that permanent? I just want to be able to type freely like all my other phones. This is rather annoying....

It sounds like you have Predictive Text set to ON, you need to turn it off. It is in the message settings.
